I don't know if anyone has started this topic, but here we go. I received my 2 Autoart's Aeroart collection 1/72 P-51 Mustangs. One is "American Beauty" flown by top MTO ace John J Voll, and "Mary Mac" flown by ace Gordon McDaniel.

I'd say they are ranked between Dragon and Corgi, which way depends on personal preference.

Sorry I didn't put pictures but I couldn't seem to them to work!

Did you get rid of the extra Stars and Bars on the wings? I did on mine, used finger nail polish remover with acetone in it. Just a dab on a tissue and a very light rub and it comes right off, doesn't hurt the paint under it. Be careful not to get any remover on the wing tip paint because it will come off too. Only rub as much as necessary to remove the stars and have a couple of q-tips to help remove paint from panel lines. It sure makes the model look more authentic.

WOW! I must be blind because I didn't even notice until you told me! What the heck is wrong with my vision? My long term vision has always been better than the now! Thanks

Don't these have incorrect canopy's Abbyvilleslayer?
Sure i read that somewhere..........

That's a good question! I've looked at them but am unsure!???

To me the canopy isn't that much of an error as the Stars and Bars. It still makes a nice addition to my collection once the paint was fixed.

Yes, I agree with you FV! The canopy is a little bit longer but not a problem. I removed the right side stars and bars so it matches with my new SHU SHU-Chuck O. Thanks for the advice on how to remove it. I left the underside S&B because I never see them anyway.

I wish they would do a checkertail clan P-51 of either Herky's or Robert Barkey's. Only if they could come up with a way so we could put who evers nose art we wanted. Maybe it's time to start purchasing some extras of these and clear the numbers and nose art and get the 1/72 decals, that way I could do a large diorama with a FG.

I am seriously considering buying the 1:48 Spitfire - I hope their 1:48 range is up to the task!

I wish you well! I'm sure they are but, take a close look at the landing gear if you decide on the 1/48 mustang, the outside panel on the LG is too short!?

There were in fact two faults on the Models, the planes were modelled off of the two seat cockpit reproduction planes, rather than the single seat original.

And as already mentioned the Stars and Bars on top and bottom of both Wings instead of Alternating.

They are supposedly correcting this in future productions, but no more has been heard - with only the 1/72nd Mustangs produced so far. The other scales have been promoted for over a year but still no ship date has been announced.

A shame as they look very nice.

I hope they don't do any Mustangs that have already been done!!! I was happy with these two even though there were a couple of goofs! Fix the cockpit and the extra stars and bars and I'll keep buying these little beauties! Great attention to detail, nice flaps and undercarriage, wheels, etc.
what do you think? :D

Abby... Quite agree as it was my two we photographed..... Despite them being wrong, they are very good....

Are there just the two, from what I can find out there are at present....

CFBC, that is all I have seen. It says at the beginning of the forum, when you go into Aeroart, that they have three, but like I said, I've only seen the two. I suppose though that they will have to do "Bunny"??????? Why can't these companies figure out what we want (P-51 B/C), amongst other planes, and give them to us. All they need to do is read the forums, don't they????
Anyway, they do good work, and just need a little advice once in a great while!! HA :D

Beside the mistake in the markngs, the canopy is actual for a civilan conversion of the P51, if you look closely you'll see the second seat. Found the modeled version of this P51 on the web, in Forida, USA I think.

Got one of these just to see what they are like. Quite like it, looks like a Corgi legend with dragon wings flaps (except on this one ALL the flaps move)

Like the simple, functional box (would house Corgi legends very well indeed...hint, hint :D )

As others have said it's just a shame they didn't do a P51B/C instead.

Had a proper look at my P51 last night.

I actually think the quality of manufacture (not talking about accuracy :) ) beats or at least equals anything else out there (1:72 warbirds)

Ignoring the errors look at the cockpit detail for instance.....superb!...panel lines where needed (cowling looks as if it would open up)....wheels detailed but rotate as well.....all flaps move but still sturdy...........

A company who really has potential to make some great 1:72 warbirds if they wanted to (.........p38, me110, typhoon, sea fury :D ............. please :) )

I have two and they are very nice given the inaccuracies. I actually bought them because the price was good and I thought that they were more detailed that the Corgi Legends. Normally I prefer my models displayed flying but these are exceptions.

I dont really count them as "innacuracies" as such
just pretend they are Cavalier Mustangs on the airshow circuit
