View Full Version : Any chance of an F-106?

To continue with the Century Series aircraft that HM are putting out, how do people rate the chance of an F-106?
The aircraft itself has a nice and prominent history, but it seems to be often overlooked in both plastic and diecast to date!

Well, I rate the chances to be about 100% better then a couple of years ago. With HM producing an F-104, F-100, F4 and and now a F-105 I would say that they must have it on their long-term roadmap. Maybe CW's is also an outside contender?

well, if HM made their decisions based upon my input only, I'd rate the chances at just under zero...The only Century series jet I would want even less would be the F-102.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if they eventually do both of them though, and I hope they do...it'll give me the opportunity to save some money

The Delta-Dart has always been one of my fave a/c' for many years.
I was lucky-enough to amass a decent collection of 1/48th scale decals representing various '106-units, to accompany the Monogram 1/48th kits.
But, one evident factor which weighs AGAINST the F.106 making a fast or forthcoming "soon" appearance, is it's "limited-user/operator" factor.....
(i.e., name some that were 'used' outside of USAF or NASA & you'd be hard-pressed).
Coupled with it's (USAF) ADC.16473 overall Grey means the ONLY variations in the liveries carried, will be the units themselves (i.e. Montana ANG, New-Jersey, etc) in order to break-up the difference between one a/c & another
Don't get me wrong, I'd STILL buy 'em, cause I LOVE 106's, but I'm mentioning all the above from a manufacturers point of view, rather than the 'enthusiasts'.....:(
(Ltd 'users' & Ltd colours won't "endear" the a/c "sales potential" within the eyes of certain manufacturers; inevitably ???????????)

CW have done the SR-71, which has even less options !
Bring on the '106, I'd buy them all !!:)

I love the F-106 and would get several. It's an important Air Defense Command aircraft.

When Thunderchief details first emerged, William was quite open on doing the whole Century Series, but I do not think F-106 being a possibility due to its limited numbers and service, on the other hand if HM produced P-26 maybe F-106 is not that far fetched as we think. What I am certain is that HM will produce both Voodoo and Delta Dagger. F-107 is of course out of the question.:D

I'd love a few.
The F-106 has to have some of the most attractive schemes of any of the USAF fighters IMO.

I believe everything's possible. I'd love the F-106.

I'd gladly take one......which may be the problem this plane has in motivating HM or CW to make it. For such a tooling to make a profit, one needs a decent proportion of multiple scheme buyers. I doubt that there are enough schemes of this plane, which had little or no actual combat service, to generate the required sales volume.

Here are some schemes I would not mind seeing:

I'd prefer a Thunderstreak and a Voodoo (in that order) - more mileage for schemes too...

I wouldn't be interested, something I seldom say regarding diecast planes. :) If I wanted a delta of that era, I'd look no further than the Mirage III. ;) An outstanding aircraft with numerous operators and a credible combat history. Another option would be the Saab Draken. :)

Yup -- count me in too. At the very least one, perhaps two or so. In fact, I'd prefer the F-102 that Merlin really wants!!:D;)
