Agreed it does look awesome but I've resisted downloading it. At 25 euros for one aircraft, I think I'll wait for the "Spitfire" program and get a whole bunch more to play with including the Mk XIV. :D

Haven't seen it yet, but I ain't been lookin. It was due for release on the 4th, so it should now be on the shelves.

The price at Play is VERY good concidering the RRP is 29.99! I'd keep ya cash mate and get the plastic out instead! ;) It'll soon be May, and with Duxford being a two dayer, I'd use the cash to buy me self some AA's! :D

A rather nice addition to the Spitfire package is this Tr IX IAC-161 from Aeroplane Heaven. It's been made in conjunction with Historic Flying Ltd who have restored the real thing and recently flown it for the first time since rebuild.

Check it out here http://www.aeroplaneheaven.com/HFL_SPITA.htm

Anyone got "Spitfire" yet? I've been reading some stuff on the key bunfight forum about poor textures and some of the shapes not being quite right, though of course these were the same people that had a 100 page thread about shapes and sizes of Hurricane spinners! :D

I've had the Spitfire add-on installed for about a week now. Looks and sounds pretty damn good to me!

I havent yet got the spitfire add-on, but I am not really too keane on aeroplane heaven or justflight. Aeroplane heaven tend to be very inconistent in terms of quality, and justflight are not picky in any way. I would be nice if they created a flawless package.

The RealAir spitfire is incredible though. RealAir are the only people who create flight dynamics which vaguely resemble the characteristecs of the real aircraft. This is down to Rob Young who is responsible for their SIAI Marchetti and both their Decathlon and Scout. All of these planes have been modelled by Rob, in conjunction with real pilots...that is what you get for the money in terms of the spitfire....realism. Also, you get contra-rotating props!!!

Please, try and land the AH spitfire in a 24knt crosswind. Then do it in the RealAir one. See what you think.

You think Just Flight aren't picky? You should try Abacus, they'll flog anything! :D That said though, I've just got a very nice AH-64D Apache from them.

Yeah abacus are the worst company in regards to flight sims I have ever seen! I have never bought from them as most of what they sell is freeware which they have bought copyright too, and with searching arond, can still be found.

Who makes the apache?

Abacus products are pretty awful, especially when there is much better freeware out there. I got the Flight Deck III set, and the aircraft are what could be best described at amature. The only thing that redeemed this software is the superb USS George Washington, plus the launch and trap programming is pretty clever stuff especially as it will work on non-abacus aircraft too.

I bought the Apache on a "fly before you buy" seven day trial from the Abacus website. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with what I got, and seven days layer I purchased it. It flies like a dream, especially when flying down between the trees, and 2d panel and VC are superb.

You can buy the Spitfire package in part form from www.aeroplaneheaven.com. I bought the "midwar" package as this included the Mk V through IX and includes many of the warbirds seen today such as OFMC's IX MH434, and Shuttleworth's Spit Vc AR501. This package also includes the two seater Spit IX found at East Kirkby owned by the Bayliss brothers. There is a nice IAC-161 skin available for it too on the regular FS addon sites such as Flightsim.com.

To be honest I would get the whole thing in the Just Flight version, as it includes the early, midwar, and late spits (including the BBMF's PR.XIX's). I wouldn't say it's as good as the Wings of Power products, or the RealAir Spitfire Mk XIV, but it's still a nice package, plenty of skins and the VC also is very functional.
