As has been discussed at length, the latest HM BF-110, a G-2 day fighter/bomber operating over Italy in 1943, has a number of issues. Chief among these, the thick canopy frames aside, is the terrible mottling job, with the insides of the tail fins not even included. Also in question are the poorly placed fuselage markings ( on my model at least ) , a rather strange light green used on the upper surface ( instead or a darker gray/green to represent RLM 74) , an overly dark undersurface rendition of RLM 76, missing markings ( such as those triangular fuel type indicators at the main gas ports) , a white pitot head ( unlikely ), an unpainted landing light, etc.
So, tearing myself away from our animated discussion of the new Corgi catalog and the newbie, Red Falcon Diecast, I've done a 75% redo of HM's sub par BF-110. I decided I could live with the light green topside color---even though I don't think it is right--- providing I lightened the undersurface and fuselage side base color, did a more realistic mottling job and applied new lettering. Oh, I also had to bend the rear MG barrels into a correct shape as they were hopelessly out of kilter and, of course, there's a bit of weathering. Here's how the model now looks.
