Sadly not. :( Hope to get some pics soon though. Along with Peter Vasher's Hurricane Mk 1, and the possibility of TFC's P-51C, it looks like a bumper year.

I though a guy called Rick Roberts owned her at the time of her accident, which killed Norman Lees and Greg McCurragh? It has had so many owners it's hard to keep up! :D
We have a good history of this machine on our website at www.ukwarbirds.net, just click on "Warbird Histories" and you'll find out more.
Quick heads up, Spitfire Mk 1 AR213 is very likely to be airworthy again this year after a major restoration. Can't say much more now, but I hope we will run a piece shortly on her restoration project.

Who's is that???? Where is the restoration being carried out?? Blimey they are gonna run out of Flight Line at Duxford for Legends this year if all this comes off!!!

I had a close look at her recently and she seems a little way off 'airworthy' a lot of the panels particularly round the engine area seemed a bit 'loose' and most of the exhaust stubs had holes in them :(
Im no expert just a casual observation :o
But Agreed would be nice!!! :)

funny you should say that, we were looking at the engine cover the other week and it did look a bit agricultural.. reminded me of a car bonnet that had flipped up then been beaten roughly back in to shape with a club hammer.. I should think probably just a little bit of TLC needed, main problem is that shes been sitting around doing nothing for ages, the worst thing that you can do to anything mechanical..

I'm not at liberty to say at the mo, but the restoration is going well, and providing it continues to go well it should fly again later this year. A Mk 1 Spitfire in formation with Peter's Hurricane Mk I would be a dream for any Battle of Britain enthusiast. I wouldn't count on it being at Legends, but the September show at Duxford is the 65th Anniversary of the BoB, so my guess is they are aiming for that one. ;)

Hey no problem Charley, we try to make our business to be nosey! :D
The guy contacted us regarding our warbird listings and provided a pic for us telling us that the restoration is now more advanced than the picture. We have AR213 listed at Booker Bucks, and he didn't correct that information so it's safe to say that's still accurate. I've asked the guy to provide some info regarding the restoration for our news page, so hopefully he will oblige. AR213 flew as part of the 60th anniversary BoB celebrations at Duxford in 2000, and was "dirtied up" in 609 Sqn markings for an authentic look. My guess is that she needed some major work and was stripped down for restoration, pretty much like TFC's P-51C, and OFMC's MH434 back in 1999.
I've uploaded the picture he sent us to our warbird directory (fighters), but as mentioned earlier he said the work is a bit more advanced now.
I'm really excited that we will have airworthy examples of both the principle RAF Battle of Britain fighters 65 years on from that epic battle.

what I never understood is why AR213 was built/delivered as a Mark 1 in 1941, after the later marks had been introduced? which is why it didnt see front line service.. P7350 a Mk2 is older
(nearly) all you ever wanted to know about Spitfires is here....!!

I notice the link to 'Merlins Over Malta' on your website... nice work! I think the project is a superb idea and probably very unlikely to ever happen again especially while the veterans are still with us... :(
Ive read the book 'Fortress Malta' by James Holland twice now, its just so fascinating!! Well worth a look!!

I heard it's a good book, and saw Mr Holland at one of the MoM events last year. I'm still ploughing my way through "First Light" at the mo, followed by "For Your Freedom And Ours" about 303 Sqn, so I will eventually get there!
