Not sure where to post this one but thought some of the Forum Tiffie fans might like a heads up on this one!!

Popped into the Duxford shop today and picked up a DVD by DD called 'Typhoon at War' 77 minutes of classic Tiffie footage. A truely excellent DVD. Highly Recommended.

There were several other titles in the series including Tempest, Mosquito, Spitfire,Hurricane and Wellington.

I thought it was quite interesting how the 'Invasion stripes' were applied loosely instead of being neatly masked off like they are on a lot of Warbirds and Corgi models today! :D

Need to send a copy of this DVD to Corgi...believe me after watching it you'd be straight on the phone to china!!! Get that model cast and include the 'wonky stripes'!!!! :p

Yes I have had my eye on that - I think it's £11.99 at Play, also the Tempest and Mossie one as well.....

With my Friends of Duxford card it came out at £11.99. I nearly got the Tempest and Mossie ones but wasn't sure so thought id play it safe.

I highly recommend this DVD...Go for it!!!! :D

Mmmmm I noticed these last time I was in the shop at Duxford. Made by the same peeps that bought us Flying Legends 2004.

Wonky invasion stripes. Exactly what's needed on most of the D-Day type models, Though how neatly they were applied depended on the unit, and how long they were given to do the job. Apparently many stripes were applied using a yard broom!

yard broom!!! Fascinating!!! :)

Can you imagine if Corgi released a model with 'wonky stripes' it would look very strange...imagine the complaints!!!

I was tempted by this Typhoon DVD, until I read a review on it - too many talking heads and repeated footage! :o Would settle for just a little footage on my Hisory of the RAF DVD

Id disagree with that write up there Albert... at £11.99 not the cheapest however i thought it was aquality DVD!!!

Way-hey at last got it.

Was at Duxford today and they had one left in the Shop so using my wonderful Friends of Duxford discount purchased the little beauty - viewing for tomorrow sorted.

Also was attending the Time Capsule buriel for the Hanger One project and we got a display from the latest Aircraft Restoration arrival - The Sptifire Tr.9 161 Irish Air Corps.

So some piccies of that to be posted later - a good day all round.

There are a few clips shown repeatedly and I could have sworn I saw a P-26 being spun - Lord alone knows why it keeps cropping up in the strangest of places! Oh and a Spitfire ditching upside down accompanying tails of trying to crash-land a Typhoon - oh well, a bold try and good to hear from the vets

Interesting bit about the ground crews being removed from the squadrons in an ‘efficiency’ drive, then hastily put back because it didn’t work – seems we’ve learnt nothing because the same stunt has just been pulled at Lyneham
