The Altaya websites goes to 60 and shows numbers only for another ten, giving us a total of 70. Qite a set indeed. One of the planes in the last ten will be an Me 323 with a 38 cm wingspan!

All of these are made by IXO. I do hope that they continue the series.

So they were Altaya, then IXO and now DeAgostini. The art of re-branding I guess

All of the 1/44 Bombers have been made by IXO. Altaya and DeAgonstini are just publishing houses/distributors. Still, I am not sure that we would have this amazing set of models (and the previous sets) if it had not been for this arrangement. IXO have a winner on their hands and are struggling to make sense of it. I hope that they get it and run with it. This may be why the bomber set has been extended to 70! I sure hope so.

Anyone seen these in newsagents yet?

I figured the Lancaster has to be worth a try at the introductory price, so made enquiries in my local newsagent, but they have had no info. from their distributors regardng this series.:(

A quick update, just in case anyone else besides me is looking for these.

I made enquiries at my local WH Smith today about the availabilty of this partwork. The staff member was most helpful and, since she had no information regarding this series, she phoned her Head Office.

Head Office told her that the series is currently only receiving a trial launch in Preston and had no further information regarding whether or not it would later get a nationwide launch.

Hope this helps.

P.S: Just realised that this thread is in the wrong place. Instead of Civil 1/144th, could an admin possibly please move it to Miltary 1/144th?

I took out a sub, have got the Lanc and Grief so far, both very nice, mags ok as well. Subs freebies are nice, a 1/72 Arado 264 with V1 piggy backed on it and a V2.

Shame they couldn't do a Tu-95/Tu-142 "Bear". :(

They have done - apart from being a tail-sitter, it is very impressive !

Got mine about 18 months ago from a dealer in France, used to have it on display flanked by Lightnings!

It is in the loft somewhere!

This stuff is all WW2, its the IXO range so looks good and a bit cheaper than dealer prices too.

I think that you are referring to the Atlas model of this Soviet heavy bomber, dating back about eight years or so.

How come this has ended up in the Civil section. It's a conspiracy by the Military mob. Not content with just their own section, they are taking over this one as well.

Well, maybe our Admin, or one of our helpful Mods, will be kind enough to shift this to the 'Military - Warbirds and Jets: 1/144' section so MORE members can get involved in this thread!

DeAgosini/IXO have a whole shelf in Basingstoke.

The Mariner, a "Betty", "Emily", Halifax, the big Blohm & Voss Flying boat plus others, no prices on them but I've never seen them in a shop before, only at airshows and on the WWW.

Had a look at a few of these in MZ this week. Like a lot of models, they seem a lot better in the metal (plastic?) although the camo colours on the Halifax really bugged me.
Some of them are pretty substantial in size - there was some six engined jobbie (sorry, no idea what it was:o ) that seemed close to a 1/72nd JU88 in size. £24.99 didn't seem a too unreasonable price for that one at least.

Was tempted by the Lanc, but I'd just bought my Corsair, and I didn't have time to query the price. (£19.99 in the shop, £14.99 on the website)

Hope the Manchester and Hampden turn up over here.

That was the Blohm & Voss BV222. For the money it looks pretty impressive and almost tempted me to start on a 1/144 binge.

Both £10 off in Basingstoke, I was tempted by the Mariner if only because its unusual, but I only have 8 or so 1/144ths and in the past month or so I have bought in 4 new models, so not for me.

Not great models but maybe worth a punt at £15 for the unusual types that nobody else will ever make.

My local MZ seems "fully stocked" still and I wondered if anybody had been tempted either by the price reduction or the unusual selection of types on offer.
