N3249, GR-P, No.92 (East India Sqn.), Flt.Lt.Robert Stanford Tuck, May 1940.
Am I right in thinking that the actual model will be a regular Spitfire with the removable cowlings, flaps and gun covers, and that all the noise making and prop twirling rubbish will be contained in the stand. There looks to be a suspicious black bobbly thing at the back of the exhausts in Tricky's picture. :(

I cant see any suspicious black bobbly thing.. apart from Stanford. :) .. hope they paint on his moustache... ;)
The black things at the wing root is the stand...
To me as long as the model comes off the stand and sits with the others without trailing wires etc etc, then it MIGHT be an Agent purchase as I have all the others..
MIGHT as in £30/£40..
Gotta get rid of 1940 of them...
Would have thought any speaker/battery be in stand, but motors in plane...

Just behind the third exhaust, looks like a small black stub which is not on the other Spits, hope it's not a contraption to start the prop spinning! :(
Must admit that's my initial and totally disloyal to Corgi plan. :p Wait until the dealers are bewailing the fact that they're only worth twenty quid then pounce from out of the sun. :)

That "black blobby thing" looks green to me, and looks a lot like the corner of the engine cowl, if you look it matches the camoflage pattern perfectly....

 Whatever it is I cannot see it having mass market appeal!! :o Would likely do better in the Fisher Price catalogue at £29.99 and then likely end up in the all year round sales at half price!!!.........

The latest Aeroplane (May 2005) has a small feature and competition to win the 'electronic' Spitfire this month (don't bother as I am going to win it :D :D :D ). The Product manager at Corgi, Robert Hinchcliffe, gives a bit of background to the product and also states that the P-51 is a candidate as the nest subject!

Ps, Robert Hinchcliffe, please contribute to the forum!!

Dear Sir ,
If in the recent cabinet shuffle you are the new product manager I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and wish you a long and successful reign . You have the difficult but not impossible job of saving many peoples favourite supplier of die-cast aviation models . If you have been the product manager over the last 6-24 months I respectivly suggest you embark upon a career more in tune with your abilities .Perhaps practising such phrases as " Do you want fries with that " ? " Do you want to supersize that for an extra 30p "? and " What drink do yo want with your Big Mac ( whoops sorry is that advertising ) meal mate " ? , will I have no doubt put you in good stead for the future !!
Yours etc.etc

And he met a fire breathing Dragon.........took up his mighty sword, limited edition of one, and the handle fell off. Corgi Quality control rides again.....in the intervening period the Dragon had already ripped his 'ead off, and became the ruler in what was to become known as The Kingdom of the Plastic Diecast, inhabited with the nissen people.

Well if he can get a P51 undercart to retract in the CORRECT order from engine startup... and tailwheel.... he gets me vote... be some feat that....

Yep that would make a change for a P51 1/32 but I still find it hard to believe someone sanctioned the production of these . I predict a production run of 1 , unless they have blown so much of the budget on the R&D they have to make a go of it !!

An unbelievably crass idea - 1940 run - interesting to see if it manages that. Love to find out what the pre-orders have been on it!

Naw sorry Mr Kev.. aint no way they will get doors to open.. cart to retract doors to close, then doors to open cart to display and doors to close.. whilst the tail wheel is doing its own thing.... However might be the only P51 where the tailwheels stays down..
Naw .. think yer mans talking bollix....

Saw one in the flesh today at Cosford, have to say I was impressed by the way they have done it.
The Engine cranks up slowly then speeds up, and the Merlin noise matches this.
The retracting U/C was good as well.
However, my own personal opion is that the novelty will wear off in about 10 minutes, and that they are just glorified Executive toys.
But 10/10 for the way they work.
Not available until July though.

Me? Noooo. Mrs CFBC will not allow it. Bad enough with 500+ diecast around, but with one now making the sounds too..... Oh my....
Would like to see it though... More curious than anything.
I did ask Typhie if he had any shots of it, but he was told he was not allowed to take any shots or he would face a firing squad.... :D

Mints .. if you mention dump price/bins.. the thought police will nab you... its evidently an offence, naturally we all know that the only way they will get rid of these is to take 50% off the RRP ( at least) .. silly sods have told us their game plan (i.e that there is 1940 of them..) so with about 75 collectors that might want one the other 1800 or so are going to sit around til long after tiffin.. Sure its lovely (Might do well at Hamleys..) but as all me other Spits cost £40 or less then we shall wait.. and if P51's are £15 in the States.. then I may even wait a little longer.. cos if was to buy at £100 and it then becomes available for a score.. I wouldnt be very happy..:D
Rather than the Hound dumping, hes gone into squirell mode... storing it away for a rainy day.. :D
