If you think 1/18 F14 bad how do you think I cope with a 1/18 P-38 :D

Just announced that JSI will be releasing flight crews and vehicles for the F-14.
http://www.talesofthecat.com/
Personally,I will have a tough enough time displaying the model by itself.Never mind in a diorama setting.
A good effort, but I don't think that they will sell many of these.
I would prefer that JSI put its resources into making the F-15 and Su27 a reality.

Details and more pictures.........Here (http://www.merit-intl.com/month/jsi-f14.htm)

There are more details on the Pheonix missiles than some manufacturers put on their planes.

I'm (more than) eagerly awaiting my F-14 from Bad Cat.

I've got the P-38, too (Haleakala II), but you've got to realize that the new plane will be seventeen inches longer with eight inches more wingspan (unswept). That's something like twice the shelf space required for the P-38, unswept; or 68% more, swept. I've only got one place where it will fit!

I've noticed a few issues with the new model:

The vertical tails appear to be just that, vertical; while the real ones are canted slightly outward. Seems like it will be easily fixable with a touch of sandpaper to their bases.

A bit more difficult to deal with is that the squadron numbers on the tails appear to be painted at a weird angle on all the photos I've seen.

The intakes and exhaust nozzles are both in their restricted positions, which would look a bit unnatural for hanging (flying) display. Some fabrication may be in order.

Finally, there are no pilots, and the JSI crew set appears to only have ground crew and vehicles. I guess time will tell.

Can't wait to have the possibility to buy 1 of these "gattoni", anyone has got some clues about the date?
I read that currently the pilot and the r.i.o. aren't available but as long as the a/carrier crew they'll be made soon.

That looks stunning, sadly no room for a big beastie like this one, nor the money!

Bad Cat just announced a projected date range for the plane's arrival at their warehouse - December 8th to 18th. Getting them to customers before Christmas is hopeful, but not promised. They're predicting a complete sellout; so if you want one, better order it from them or the other outlets who are taking preorders. Apparently, there will be future production runs, but the current Jolly Rogers paint scheme (early 1980s) will be retired. The modern low-visibility scheme would look pretty cool, too.

The delays experienced so far are due, at least in part, to the fact that the F-14 is the largest and most complex 1:18 scale plane ever produced. Judging by the pics, that's not hard to believe.

They also said that JSI are planning a flight crew sometime in the first quarter of next year.

I just came across these pics of the Tomcat in production. I'm amazed at the scale relative to the people (especially the last two pics, which show one of the horizontal tail sections and the lower rear of the F-14), and also that the planes are being extensively hand-built and painted.
