keep your nerve Martin, you know it makes sense!!! :D funnily enough I popped in to East Kirkby yesterday and someone was walking out with a 1/72 Corgi Lanc under their arm  now that would've been RRP plus.. but its all for a good cause..

Hi MB - which shop in Newark was it out of interest? Tks

He probably means the Air Museum - which is usual stocked with Corgis, as I don't think there is a Model shop in Newark itself....

:)

Martin Bull
30th January 2005, 13:23
Sorry - it was indeed the well-stocked shop at the Newark Air Museum. It is most certainly NOT local to me - it's 130miles there and 130 back  - and I was there for the AGM of the British Aviation Archaeological Council as well as my annual homage to the remains of 'J-for-Johnnie Walker' which hopefully Corgi will do as a L/E Lanc...... ;) :p

I shall definitely be going for the 109 Sqn Mossie - it is going to be the one for me !

Aha, yes thats right..... Sorry M/B.... ;) . Hope you got yer passport stamped at the Gap...... Border control.

Thats right Typhie.... Newark Air Musem id WELL stocked-up and indeed a good source for some models.. There is a small model shop in Newark, but he has long since given-up on Corgi...... Typical RRP/Corgi blunderings about and he said he just got fed-up of buying full RRP stock and three months later, well easily being undercut...... :(

Must go there as there dont seem to be any other places advertised as much on this forum. :D .

Martin Bull
4th February 2005, 07:03
Didn't mean to upset the applecart by 'advertising' the NAM shop. But I look on these places differently to ordinary retailers. The smaller, private museums need all the income they can get ( I know, I help out at one of them ) so, buy in the shop, support the museum.......

CFBC
4th February 2005, 07:35
No worries, M/B.. Fully understand your posting and quite agree... Some would not and argue the fact as "us" being biased, but not that way at all..... :)

NAM is a nice place to visit and they have some very interesting books and materials, etc...... AA'wise, well we all know they are full RRP, so it's the punters call......

Called in at Holborn today ; they've got all three 1/32 Mossies on display.

They're all nice, but ( IMHO ! ;) ) the 109 Sqn MkIX is the bizzo !

The colour scheme and finish seem to set off the Mosquito's lines perfectly, and Corgi have got the nose detail correctly. It's got that 'must have one' appeal - a bit like when 'S-for-Sugar' hit the shops.

The model is a fitting tribute to the Pathfinder Mossies......

Did they have any Spits left...??

The Mossies were there when I called in a couple of weeks ago.. just cant get over painted plexiglass...

Martin Bull

Polish Spits finally, definitely OOS, black Spits still in stock at RRP.

You'll have to speak to 109 about the painted plexiglass ! ;)

Nerve only just holding - but I may go LMF !

Can't bring myself to pay RRP but equally I don't think I can wait for them to appear on vilebay for 50 quid.....and I'm not going to be able to wait three years like I did for 'Reaper'...... :(

Have patience Mr B..use the force.. they will be fifty squids.... the secret really to it all is..

1. Find out how many they produced.

Under 1000 .. better get one in the next two/three months..
1000-1500 wait...they will be £50
1500-2500 wait.. they will be £40
2500 plus wait they will be £25...

Think in any case they will be cheap if the numbers are produced and Corgi go to dump them... cos really much as though I would like one, it would be a NO from Mrs Agent.. (weell after buying the PRU one when its £25) and I really aint got the room.... which must be case now for at least 90% of all collectors..

2. There is no number two... :D

warbirdguru
9th February 2005, 19:52
the sound of twin Merlins on a Mossie again. For the 1: 1 scale fans I can tell you that there are two Mosquito projects that will almost certainly fly again, plus one other 'hovering' in the wings. Firstly the Fighter factory (Jerry Yagen in VA USA) is having one built by Glynn Powell in New Zeland and Bob Jens has an aircraft in Canada making good progress....the third would be conjecture at this point so I'll keep quiet......my Benson Mossie sits on the desk here and will do until I can get some glass cases. Then it's evacuate the loft time!

warbirdguru

to crawl all over it - literally - when it was a BAe Hawarden having the paint and fabric (or the other way around) renewed by Vintage Fabrics just months before the crash. It was only then that I realised how big the Mossie is, and how clever the construction is. Ahhhh, happy days.........how to get high on the fumes from the dope!

Thats right M/B, very exceptional place for Mosquito loveres, however they are only open partially throughout the week and bn closed when Ive popped in on the way past..... :( . My fault though....

I have acquired some "original" fabric from them though via said auctions... Sat nicely in my room.... :)

Got it at last - it was well worth waiting for this !

Sorry, everyone - I'd love a Squadron of 1/32 Mossies but I just don't have the room; so this is the one.

Despite the paddle-bladed-props, this is a really gorgeous model. It absolutely captures the charisma of the full-size Mossie. OK, I could spend weeks trying to make a Revell 1/32 kit but it'd still end up not looking anything like this.

Drool !

CFBC
9th March 2005, 12:48
Box of tissue's heading down your way M/B.... Better than the other two I take it.... Canna wait to obtain one myself now. Got it saved for me, just gotta go collect it and pay for it.... :D

Martin Bull
9th March 2005, 13:03
.... Better than the other two I take it....

Did you mean the other two 1/32 Mossies, CFBC ? I wouldn't go that far, all three look brilliant.

But somehow, the colour scheme on this one is my favourite and it's an important model for my collection for various reasons :

- It's a Mossie ! ;)
- It's Bomber Command
- It's a Pathfinder
- It flew from and was destroyed at Little Staughton ( an airfield I know well )
- The unfortunate pilot is buried within walking distance of here
- And, of course, there's only 1500 of them......

CFBC
9th March 2005, 13:08
M/B.. Ive only got one excuse to acquire all three..... Actually two....

1) I am foolish....
2) It's a Mossie...

No, wait.... Three....

3) They look bl**dy excellent..... :)

Martin Bull
9th March 2005, 13:11
I''ve just had a helpful thought, CFBC...you live in Lincolnshire. Why not buy an old airfield, or at least one of those old T2 hangars which are dotted around the countryside...? :p

Forum members could then combine a vist to The CFBC Collection with the BBMF, East Kirkby, etc..... ;)

Hey, wow.. Good idea M/B.... Just one problem nowadays..... Mrs CFBC... Ive just had to re-organise my office at CFBC terrace mansion and have more display case room now, but I think she would draw the line in me investing in a small plot of old airfield.... To her, to me.... History.... :D

"Loft conversation" put on permenant hold thanks to Mrs CFBC's parents saying it does not add value to the housey.... :(

I am also running outta hiding places too... So when I acquire this third 1/32nd Mosquito, well... I will maybe have to come clean straight away....
