Does anyone have an interest in the classic diecast airplanes. Most of these were marketed as toys but had details that would be lost on most kids. I believe that many of them were intended for "older" kids as the diecast airplane models that we now have today did not exist back then. There is a terrific variety of models that were produced by manufacturers such as:

Playart (Fastwings)
Tekno (Denmark)
Solido (France)
CIJ (France)
Dinky (UK)
Playme (Spain)
Pilen (Spain)
Tomica (UK)
Tintoys (UK)
Edison (Italy)
Zylmex (Zee Toys) (Hong Kong)
Mandarin (Hong Kong)
Lintoy (Corgi) (Hong Kong)
Lone Star (UK)
Mercury (Italy)
Frankonia (Mail Box) (Hong Kong)
and several others.

I would like to share my collection and experiences with you if you do.

As you can see there is lots to talk about. For example corgi did an excellent rendition of the SAAB Draken in a Dark Gray comouflage and a bare metal finish in about 1/100 scale. So there is a link from there to Corgi's Aviation Archive.

So is anyone interested in the very long history of diecast airplanes? If you do not, do you know of any forum/site that would have that interest?

BTW most of the above models are very scarce and sell for BIG bucks. There are lots of collectors out there, many with deep pockets (or small bank accounts). My quest is to find them and make contact. It could be a whole new forum.
