Now that would be really sad.
I have very fond memories of Marshalls of Cambridge.
That's where I obtained my PPL courtesy of a Flying scholarship back in the days of brown Hercules jobbies.

'Possible new sites include Mildenhall as well as Alconbury, Duxford, Wyton and Waterbeach in Cambridgeshire'
Wow, what part of Duxford?

Duxford has already said 'thanks, but no thanks'..! Alconbury has already had a campaign by local residents not to allow aviation use since the USAFE left.. the BBC report says that the MOD has already OK'd Mildenhall.
its not clear about what happens to Cambridge Airport if Marshalls did move out.. they're saying it would would remain as an airfield, but probably would end up being run down till its not viable and end up as housing ..

It's a real shame, but it's been on the cards a while. I also have fond memories of flying Chipmunks with 5 AEF as an Air Cadet, though it does seem very odd how Mildenhall has been chosen as the new site.
With Marshalls srvicing aircraft as large as 747's, Duxford was never a serious proposition was it?
