Typical.

I was also interested to read about the possible disappearance of 'that' Lightning near Newark. It's been one of my favourite landmarks for a long, long time......

I know it's very mean-spirited of me, but I really do get thoroughly ****** off with all these aircraft going to the States. :(

Yeah, I can see what you mean M/B, but that seems to be where the money is..... Simple fact.... Heritage here, money there..... Tis a shame, but the main thing is that it flies again..... Just a shame we ain't gonna see it flying :(

The Americans can have all the Spits and Mustangs they want, they're ten a penny, but when we see aircraft like the B25D ("Grumpy" being the worlds only flying D model) and this Bf109E dissappear across the pond, then yes it is very frustrating. :( Sadly as Agent pointed out it's simple economics, they have more money, and more people who can afford to run a warbird. Apparently Mr Grey did try to keep "Grumpy" in the UK, but no one wanted it.

Agent pointed that out? Please DO NOT confuse me with Agent on this thread.... I don't have 6000+ post's.... :D

But, the sad fact is.... Money talks... So, they did offer "Grumpy" in the country then prior to it going stateside.....?

Oops, sorry old fruit, took me eyes off the ball there for a mo! :o

Yes apparently so, tho I can't remember were that snippet came from, so it could be a load of b0llocks! ;) Steven had her up for sale for quite a while before Mr Allen purchased her.

and we arent 'losing' an a/c with this 109, belive the basis of the restro was originally owned by NZ interests  then sold to the current owner who decided to have it restored in the UK. which is a good thing I suppose?? yep shame about 'Grumpy' though

I know..I KNOW.. we're not 'losing' it - but to me, it's a Battle of Britain veteran, not the battle of Texas or wherever.... so it should be here !!!!

Hawker Restorations have rebuilt a couple of Hurricanes that have gone to collector stateside, however this season we shall be mostly seeing a genuine, bonofide, 5 kill, Battle of Britain ace of a Hurricane! :D
