Thanks zed :)
The Arrow, Phantom and Skyraider look fantastic. July for the C-17 :D
The F-22 looks a lot better than the pro-pro pictures.
This turning out to be a golden and very expensive year for diecast.

Most of the newer issues from all (Gemini, Hobby Master and Skymax) were very early pre-pro's, pre-pro's and mock-ups (especially the Skymax Provost).
Oxford Diecast also had a good mixtures of aircraft in their cabinet which looked quite interesting and a blend of manufacturers tools now being used, but my images are pi$$poor....
The Gemini Skyraider is very nice as is the Phantom, but again Zed needs to do some more research as he has said.... ;) :D
The Avro Arrow once again is very stunning as is the Raptor. :cool
Not bad for a quick jolly around today... ;) :D

This is the early Skyraider that Gemini were going to do until Hm released theirs.... It's changed now, but they were displaying the original planned release. My guess Kev, this is the one.

Skyraider..... More Gemini vs Hobbymaster sh*t then or 'tother way round.... :D ... ::mad: FFS about time they started talking so as the punters dont end up with two molds.... what a waste.... there is so much else that could have been done.. this is getting as bad as civvie world.... One day no L188's.. now we have four separate molds.. and still no soddin Trident...
C17 looks a fair old bit of kit though and the F4 looks (for me) as though it should fly... wait till the rivet counters get their myopic viewpoint across...:(
That P-51.. whatever you do, get rid of the vertical joint line... I could build kits like that at 3 years old.. NOT acceptable on diecast.... It's far too messy around the nose and wing joint to be considered acceptable as a model going forward (2010 and all that) .... DYAF..... scrap it now....

Agree Mr.X20.. Joints don't look much improved over pre-pro and what is it with the piece on the underside of the cowl, why would there be a need to make that a seperate piece? Whoever developed this mold should be taken out and shot...:(

C-17 looks cool, and when they get round to an RAF one I'll have it. Will partner my Tristar nicely, now if JC would like to get round to doing their "Super" as a tanker, that'd complete the set nicely :cool
Arrow's looking excellent, don't have one ordered but it's looking VERY tempting. As for the Phantom-agree Mr A, looks excellent, much better than any previous one. Still want a decent F3 though-one mould that IS worth doing again! :(

Dunno about a summary execution Harry, but IMPO in this day and age, that sort of casting, that type of mold, irrespective of subject matter..... should never have gotten offa the drawing board..

looks like they made the HM F-22's canopy clear instead of that hazy effect in the pre-pro shots- but I still don't see a HUD?
for the C-17, is that 1:200 or 1:400?

The Gemini Camo Phantom looks well :cool :cool :cool , although their Skyraider doesn't look as sharp as HM's. Provost looks like it could be a nice little thing. Gotta agree with Agent about the P-51's joint over the nose and everything needs tightening up by the look of it, including the wobbly u/c....

C-17 is ****** heavy:) another tristar is being looked at;) VC-10 super lets hope:) skyraider is a rough casting mock up,mostly hand finished at the factory apart from a few minor details added so is not even up to prepro standard.
the phantoms will get better craig and as to the F3 who knows because the witty one really is awful once you look at one properly in the flesh, its not just the canopy but the fin aint much cop.

The C-17 looks good, the Charleston gang are old friends. Is GA going forward with the Skyraider? Like the Camouflaged Phantom, will be getting that one. Pity the GA customer service folks don't answer their mail. Still need the missing gear doors for my RN 004 Phantom.

Then maybe a caning behind the shop? 50 lashes?
The overall shape looks good as does the canopy shape, But if HM releases these as is, mine will be stripped, the joints filled and repainted.. Just can't have it looking like this.

I am sure the undercarriage can be fixed. The tooling placing the join lines across the nose and the wing root? Highly doubtful. Tightening up will help a little, but the fundamental problem will remain. This tooling has got to be HM's worse design yet... and done to such an iconic subject? Whoever tooled this and approved it didn't do it with any TLC. A miracle isn't going to save this tooling. The best miracle that can be hoped for is HM cuts its losses and cancels the release.

Sadly, I reckon you've got more chance of being bitten by Napolean's Dog:rolleyes:
Various are "assuring" us that this "final product" won't have those "upside-down speech bubble" join-lines (or, if they are, they won't be as loose as a 'Whore's-Drawers'........yeah:rolleyes: I'll believe it when I see it)
As you say; an 'iconic' plane (one I would've thought MIGHT be treated sympathetically).
I CERTAINLY WOULDN'T expect to "have to" lash-out the lions share of £ 40 & then be expected to buy a tube (or TWO) of Squadron-Signal Body-Putty (filler) in order to "put things right".....
Kinda defeats the object of buying diecast in the 1st place.
Thank God Tamiya do a decent 48th kit (of which I bought loads in the '90s)
Personally, I can't see 'em changing their tooling (call me a born-cynic)
BTW Elmer (B), I'd re-phrase that line you wrote..."whoever tooled this..." (towards the end) with, "needs shooting" instead of your (polite) "didn't do it with any TLC"............ (too-kind, by far:cool )

Yip, that Mustang's a right lemon, horrible joins. The Arrow on the other hand looks like it'll be the diecast to have....dare I say perfect? Will wait for 201 to go with my TSR.2.
WANT! WANT! WANT! that C-17, but like most I'll wait for an RAF one. The Camo Phantom has been at the top of my wishlist for years, so I'll be getting that. I'm only sorry Corgi couldn't have sorted that one alot sooner though.
Skyraider looks phenomenal for those interested. The Raptor I still find too toy-like in my opinion.

You are right HC. And sadly the dog's bite would be much less painful than accepting this tooling as the D Mustang standard at 1/48 for the next umpteenth years.
I will never look at speech bubbles the same... ever again. They will always be a painful reminder of what could have been. Within the bubble I will never see text but putty.
Thanks for cheering me up, HC! At least you gave me a laugh at the expense of HM. But I do not think I can acclamatise, mate. ;)

The JP looks good, I will need a few of them , the 43 Sqn phantom is now ordered and with the GJ Skyraider I hope we do get the FAA AEW now.The C-17 if it appears in RAF markings will be joining the list as will a grey Tristar if it's made.

Although to be fair, the Gemini Skyraider wasn't a secret so no talking necessary :) HM just saw the potential of getting the Skyraider done first although it looks as though the Gemini model won't be too far behind

If you delve back to the very beginning of the HM Release Information thread, you'll see that HM had plans to produce the Skyraider back in 2007. (In post #2 Sniper was hoping for an RN AEW version!:D ). They also had a load of other models in the pipeline and after Gemini unveiled their Skyraider prototype (along with the Spey Phantom) HM dropped out of the race.
However with the huge delays that Gemini hit and the uncertainty whether we'd ever see any new castings from them, HM obviously decided it was worth dusting off their plans for the Skyraider and going for it. (They managed to announce their Phantom, develop it and get 3 or 4 production models out of the door in the time it took Gemini to go from their prototype to the first, badly recieved production models.) I seem to remember that at the time the decision was very well received as most of us had given up any hope of seeing Gemini's Skyraider.
Whether it's worth Gemini proceding with their Skyraider now that they've been beaten to the punch by HM only time will tell. (Echoes of Corgi's A-10 and A-4?) I just hope that we get an RN AEW version from someone!:)

Can't argue with that, and given that Gemini have this one tooled already maybe its an ideal one for them to launch with and beat HM at its own game especially in the UK market. However, given HM's Skyraider quality and lower price (based on HM vs. GA Phantoms) maybe I should shut up and wait for HM to get a round tuit  :D

CFBC (or Zed), any sign (or even crap pics ;)) of Oxford's WW2 Meteor/V1 combo as seen in Nuremberg? I contacted Oxford recently about this but other than saying its not announced yet and they have about 40 aircraft in their range, I didn't get any joy.

all atlas stuff were in a cabinet hence probably why CFBC's pics were not too good to show you.
i did'nt bother as the range holds no interest to me.as to the skyraider you may find the comparisons of interest and as a certain person thinks i will be bias with my involvement i will be dealing with basically the pros, cons accuracy etc particularly of the kits that were used as both company starting points you can then judge for yourself.
