Glad to see another Jungly and glad I held off from the earlier SFOR scheme now - I personally think they look better in green. I'll be ordering this one and I think I may even now look for the BN Chinook as they will make a nice pairing. Great choice :cool

Nah, stick a .50 cal in the door, lovely stuff:D
I did wonder if Corgi considered doing USL's for some of these helo's, then i remembered a certain Chinook and Landrover:LOL:
Next scheme?

If the photos of the actual aircraft are anything to go by, the model doesn't need carson blades.

No just composite ones, though they probably will not be ready for this release.

The composite blades will be good.
A potential opportunity to flog myself and the rest of the sea king nutters a set of replacement composite blades to retrofit the sea king models that require them.
I'd be up for a kit of bits to do this...

Thats a shame....... I would have rather have waited for them to get the blades sorted before releasing this
Nice pics and good work with what you have done so far. It would be nice to see a full Afgan Fit (Prophet 11), with Carson blades and 5 bladed tail rotor
For info, the MOD did not buy enough Carson blade sets for the whole fleet, as they only really need them when 'Hot and High'. So the aircraft get a blade change when in theatre.
From the RN website:
"CHF Sea Kings have been modified to operate in the demanding Afghan environment with Carson rotor blades and a new tail rotor to provide greater lift, an extra door gun for improved all-round defence, and a significantly enhanced night-flying capability system along with an upgraded defensive aids suite.
Due to these upgrades the aircraft can cope with the very high altitudes during the summer and can now survive extreme temperatures, talcum-powder-like dust, and pitch-black nights.
The rotor blade system was changed to a Carson system and they modified the tail rotor and main head; it helps as the air is thinner and it offers more lift.
All the aircraft struggle in the heat but the Sea Kings are holding up and offering a good capability. Our people like it, it's a good and reliable airframe that is proven to be able to do its job."
So in the Box art should say 846 Sqn RNAS Yeovilton 2008 not 846 NAS, Commando Force, Joint Helicopter Force, Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan 2008
Anyway still looking forward to this, its an HC 4 :D Just need another 846 cab, around the Falklands Time, VZ would be very nice :D
Also could you get them to add the strake on the left hand side of the boom, missing on all the sea kings, and must be simple to fix??
Keep up the good work Sniper, I am sure they will get it right in the end  After all, we have come 100% ahead from where we were 3 years ago
Once you get this one, you will need to get your weathering paints out, as this one is a really mucky girl ! Some pics from the RN flypast at Northolt last year.

Thanks Sniper for the pre-pro pictures.
The model is looking very good so far.
What's missing on all the seakings are the handgrips on both sides of the tailboom. These should be very easy to make (metal ones please).
Maybe Sniper can pass this information on to Corgi.
Thanks for the good work!!

Final pre-pro of the HC.4 ,flare dispensers fitted (not 100% correct but it's a reasonable representation) good news that the blade issue is being looked at before the next release.

Sniper,
Even if they just charged for their costs plus some P&P it would be a nice gesture.

I would be happy to BUY a set of replacement blades to rework the models already made that need them, providing they didn't take the p*ss...
They could make sure they are the right colour for the Falklands HAR3 at the same time

Scheme already noted Chally though the SK may be taking a back seat for a while as there has been one in the last four catalogues.

Mine arrived today from the IAT shop sale.
All rotor blades look the same to me so did the Carson blades get fitted in the end? Any illustrations that show the difference?:)

No they didn't ,no budget to do new sets of blades or amend the existing tooling, pity.

If anyone is interested in sets of resin Composite Main Rotor Blades then email me,rpountney@aol.com, to discuss as I have plenty left. I had these made for me by a professional after market resin producer and they make all the difference to the Sea King's appearance. They are a straight forward replacement and just need painting in your chosen scheme colours.
