Started work on the DeAgostini Bell 412 I picked up turning it from an Italian Carabinieri cab into a 60 Sqn Griffin HT.1 . paintwork is just about finished but need decals, so I have to track down the ones from the Revell kit of a few years ago or wait until Model Alliance release theirs in February. The other one may stay as it is or end up as a grey schemed 84 Sqn one from Cyprus.

They are 1/72 diecast from a magazine released in Itay ,picked up for £7 .The Griffin HT.1 is the RAFs multi engine training helicopter used at Shawbury and at the Search and Rescue Training Unit at RAF Valley the HAR.2 version is used by 84 Sqn at RAF Akrotiri . They're helicopters ,what's not to like:D

Nice one sniper, I'm in the middle of doing an Akrotiri Griffin at the moment same base model, I've weighted my model so it sits nicely on the ground, have you? Just got to sort the radome out and it'll get a coat of paint. May try to pick another up and do an Army grey green and dayglo one:cool

Haven't weighted it yet, still to paint the interior and varnish the whole thing after applying the decals so plenty of time. If you can find the Italeri 212 kit it has the correct radome for the 84 Sqn cabs .

Here's how my Griffin stands at the mo. Not 100 % happy with radome, may look for a cheap kit to rob one. Word of warning Sniper this took quite a lot of lead and is still a bit unstable! BTW any luck with those Puma Decs Sniper?

Still looking ,found all my Wessex ones I have a feeling they may be in a file in the Sqn building so will not be in there until start of the new year.

That's very, very nice matey, may give me the impetus to get on and do mine, like i mentioned the base model was so nice i've left it alone for a while, don't want to join the Cormorant and Apache languishing in the shed:rolleyes:
When i get round to doing mine i may try and fashion a weight from zinc from work:unsure:

There are a fair few of these operating in Aus mate, and a handful in NZ supporting the offshore gas / oil exploration work.
Here's an Australian 412
