A while ago, someone posted a list of Corgi's Showcase series models with a list of what scales they were( Gooneybird?) Can't find it, so appreciate if someone could paste that list here, as I have been asked to do the research for these and I have a PLAN!!!

Albert - are you planning on consolidating scales by type - ie: WWII fighters 1/120(ish), WWII bombers 1/xxx, etc?

Great plan if so... :)

No, that's not it. Think Bob The Yank worked out the scales of these models. I need to know which are closed to 1/144th? I know the Mossie is, but are there any others?

No, but I have a plan, but can't reveal it until I know what scales they are?

Do my sensors detect a possible promotion for certain Showcase models into the AA 1/144 range ??.......... ;)

Huh? Did I just do something useful? Anyway, that list has been dredged up from a few sources. I had a formulae worked out for figuring out the scales easily on the Showcase planes but can't remember it now.

Albert - I know the P-38 is very close to 1/144 - only off by a digit or two.

Yes, I know as long as certain models are fairly close, I think we can combine them with AAs.There is one set coming out in the second half that will do exactly that!

Israeli KC-97 with trailing Phantoms? :)

I see the Phantoms are not to scale, but Israeli F-16's trailing behind a
KC-707 would be close. :)

Israeli KC-97 with trailing Phantoms? :)

Ha, that's exactly what I thought about doing. Trouble is the Showcase Phantom is the wrong variant, as the Israelis had F-4Es with the gun, or variants of them.

This is obviously why the RAF Sentry is late. Corgi have been developing 1:144 Tornado F3s to go with it.

Bless their cotton socks.

Picked up a showcase mossie for £2 at the last toyfair. Wouldn't have bothered but I remeber reading on this thread that it was approx 1:144 scale (thanks to whoever worked those scales out!) Looks good on display with my 1.144 lanc, spit, hurri :)

:) Mr. P51D,

Whats the wingspan on the showcase version? If its half the size of the 1/72 then its 1/144 btw..................:) The showcase models are excellent value for money though the differing/dubious scales let them down big time.........;)

Thanks for the info spock (seems to be exactly half the size :) ) Your right about the showcase models, good quality, excellent value shame about the (lack of) scale.

Havn't seen any of the QC issues on the showcase series that we often get with the AA range!

I bought a showcase Me109 by mistake (Doh) from ebay for ?2.99. I usually collect 1/72, but I was surprised at just how good it was. If you are short of space and this model is anything to go by then I think they are a good way of building a nice collection. There seems to be a good range of models too. At the moment I am a happy man. I now have a nice set of 4 Corgi Me109s 1/32 scale. All my other models are 1/72 but these beautifull birds I just had to have. But they take up a lot of space. My problem now:rolleyes: is to find a Hurri and Spit in 1/32 to go with them but have you seen the price of them!!!! This all goes to show how easy it is to get tempted into something else and then were does it end. I guess thats the sorry story all of us can tell!!!

Yes they really are pretty good quality, but as Spock has pointed out they are let down badly by their lack of any set scale! The 1:144 fighters that Corgi have released are really good but you couldn't build much of a collection with them as they have made so few.

Depends what you expect from a 1:144 fighter I suppose and where/how you display them. I am very happy with the way my 4 look on display (far happier than some of the larger scale stuff in fact!)

Why do you think they are crap Agent? (and no mention or pics of 'inflights' in the reply please :D )

BTW didn't actually realise I had posted in the 'civils' section sorry about that! :o

Why do you think they are crap Agent? (and no mention or pics of 'inflights' in the reply please :D ) :o Think all agreed at the time when Tri posted an update on his BBMF set that the fighters were a little 'naff'...

http://www.tricatus.co.uk/49501b.htm

......and sorry but compared to Inflights.. well you cant as they are in a different league...... so how about a Hogan... and its 1/200...not a massive 1/144....

and a lovely £7..!!!... result....

This loyalty to the pooch is quite commendable, however it is only real canines that remain that faithful...

Hmmm, what the Forum agree on (me included :o ) and what looks good in the cabinet are not always the same thing though:D

Nice pic of a decent looking 'Hogan' by the way Agent! I know it's 1:200 but approx how big is the model? Do they make much military stuff or is it mainly civils?

Its mainly civils, the Dak was a surprise find at Heathrow... but looking at what Corgi produce, it fast becoming evident much of it is crap be it 1/144 or 1/72 Spitfires.

What I do find odd is that they manage to get the general shape of the 1:144 Spit (approx 2" long!) about right and then produce the 1:72's and 1:32's with almost no dihedral

Picked-up a couple of the Corgi Showcase Vulcans yesterday when I grabbed my Hobby Master items and had a look today....

Ok, they are not collectables, but for around £3.60-£3.80 plus VAT, then these two Showcase models ain't bad at all and come 2009 Airshow "if" the Vulcan will be in the air then these will sell like hot cakes to the public and kids wanting something small and cheap.....

Here are a few photographs I took quickly today. :)

Cheap and cheerful I guess. They look like Vulcans, even if the nose does look a little strange. Good choice on doing XL426 for the other aircraft too...

I won't be buying one, but can see for the fanbase the 558 stall will probably knock plenty out. As you say, does exactly what it says on the tin!

After looking at these pictures of the 2 Vulcans - XH558 and the White bird - got me thinking, how about same scale versions of the Victor and Valiant to have a miniature V-Force? Also how's about a Nimrod MR.2.
