View Full Version : Luton Aviation Enthusiasts Fair

7th March 2005, 12:51
Just wondered whether any other forum members were there on Saturday? This was the 3rd one I've been to and the AA content had increased from 2 dealers to 3, plus a couple of stalls that were selling a few older AAs along with their other aviation stuff.
Prices weren't as spectacular as those mentioned on the Lincoln thread, but I came away well pleased - see the "What Yer Bought.." thread for details. I'd have been even happier if someone else hadn't snapped up the £7 Legends Phantom before I could!
Next event is on 1st October, but as that's the day before the October Shuttleworth Flying Day which is usually attended by 2 of the same dealers I might give it a miss.

Seafire,
Was there for a while. I believe that the same guy that had the £7 legend Phantom also knocked out an Armour Harrier for £15. Mr Corgi (you know who I'm sure) couldn't see where any proffit was in those deals..
Still quite surprised some of the prices being asked on the not so rare Geminis, anyone paying £25 for BOAC B747s ?? I also saw a 1/400 dealer selling a few AA's but not enough to antagonise the two regulars :D
Had not seen the other guy there before with the limited range of AAs and Geminis but felt that the prices asked for on the 1/400s was still off the mark.
Decided I definately DO NOT like the Gemini 1/250 737s, maybe with the cart up they look better but be advised the Stand is an extra.
And Finally, for those still reading, I am now told that the Gemini 1/250 VC10 still appears to be a way off contrary to what I posted last week, I'll keep schtum on that until I see one now :( :(

Diecaster,
Nice to hear that I wasn't the only one. Interesting though that out of the crowds of buyers around the diecast dealers stalls only 2 were members of the forum. It just goes to show that there's a lot of people out there who buy Corgis, Dragons, Geminis but either don't know about the forum or aren't interested. I've argued before that we shouldn't assume that views expressed on here (even the ones that most people agree with) are representive of the majority of Corgi's customers.

Luton - first time going and was well impressed, a good range of allsorts and all aviation related. Good to meet some old faces and put one or two faces to names, having ordered stuff from some of the guys off the Bay.
What was interesting was just how much more popular IMHO the civils were and what a following the 1/400 has.. even the 1/200's were disappearing fast and a great deal of self control was imposed - thankfully I was too late to snap up the Inflight BOAC 747 at £120.. but I will be back for the Herpa 727's..
On the Corgi side there were some lovely displays from Mr Oddie and Mr Holt with Nimrods, Hercs, Corsairs and Spitfires in evidence... Loads of Legends to go round, some very competitive prices, but there really wasnt anybody buying much... compare that to the 1/400 lot, all jostling to have a look to see whats there... and some very serious money for something the size of a cereal toy.. gives much credence to the desire for civil airliners and illustrates many of the points made on the forum as to the hounds marketing abilities.. anyway, well worth it after Huntingdon and looking forward to Feltham... could be some serious money...
Purchases - A Convair 440 - £25 and an SAA 707 - £60..
As to bargains.. there aint any if you walk round with Goony..!!

I was there from the time the doors opened at 11:00 until I struggled out with my purchases (see "What yer bought" thread) at about 12:00. A very enjoyable morning thanks to Bob, Geoff and Steve.
Agent - I saw Geoff showing the 1/200 747 to someone - not sure if he bought it. It looked quite nice, but I really can't get enthusiastic about modern airliners, especially the 1/400 ones that need a magnifying glass to be seen. The only model I saw that might tempt me back to the civils was the new Super Connie.
Agent X20
3rd October 2005, 09:37
The little guy bought it..( not a forum peep.. didnt have a PC..). along with two 1/300th 747's..... ....the taller guy slobberring all over Geoffs table was me.. :D The 1/200th series seems IMHO about the only scale that is doing 'decent' models.. yep the Corgi ones are fine but thats about it, the join lines are too oppressive.. although to be fair the SuperConnie aint too bad.. Viscount 5/10 though... naw.. there are 727's and one or two others coming out now.. ( that 440 is a magnificent little model..)
There is also the 'promise' from Inflight of some further mouthwatering schemes such as an Air France 707 which gives one something to look forward to.. yep I shall most probably buy the Corgi's.. more than likely pre order from the States... hopefully Mr Ross had pursuaded them to do one or two tasty ones, trouble is I cant see them doing another 707 as I dont think there are that many collectors left.. we have all moved on to buy other models (as well as buying a few from the hound) .. the Inflights (and Herpas) for civils IMHO are in a different league.. 1/400.. leave them to the peeps with the eyesight.. :D

3rd October 2005, 13:58
....the taller guy slobberring all over Geoffs table was me.. :D
...and I was the guy with the beard slobbering over Bob's table! :) I probably saw you, but to be honest I was focussed on the models, trying to work out how much I could afford and what represented the best value for money.
By the way, did anyone notice the date of the next event at Luton? They're usually March and October, but I forgot to pick up one of their leaflets on the way out.

Must admit Bob did have the best display of models.. perhaps not the most varied, but I bet you could have spent a coupla hundred easily.. and to be fair he most probably got better prices than at the 'regular' toyfair.. In fact spent a very pleasant half an hour talking to him before it opened... as someone had said it was 10.30 start.. well the side door was open and the arrow said aviation whotsit so I went in.. paid me dues the 'other side' of the fence..
Seafire47
3rd October 2005, 15:50
I bet you could have spent a coupla hundred easily..
Well the total for the day was heading that way, although not quite all of it with Bob. Fortunately the guilt overcame the greed before I got there. I don't think I could have carried any more though. Thanks to a recent birthday I was relatively solvent when I went in.... but half of what I bought has now been put away for Xmas. My excuse is that I probably won't see bargains like that again this year, so it was only sensible to stock up. ;)

I'll be there in the queue before 11:00. Sadly the finances won't stretch to the feeding frenzy of last October, so I'm going to have to try to be very restrained:( . The plan is to stick to picking off the models from my "must-have" list that are in the bins and avoid getting diverted by the bargains that are just "nice to have", or the new releases that are bound to be cheaper next time I see them. Well, that's the plan......
Still, really looking forward to it after the famine of the winter months.:)

That Phoenix 727 Pan Am 1/200 yesterday was $25 BIN with $16 postage = $45 = £27

Well Luton was very pleasant..
Wandered in 5 minutes early, to find a big queue, so sod it back outside and had a lovely chat with an old timer who remembered working on Stirlings, Yorks, Connies et al.. facinating...
By that time the queues had disapated and it was straight in... twenty seconds later am accosted by Goony, so my chance of ever finding a bargain was gone..
Well the Phoenix Pan Am 727 had been bought by Mr Oddies mate, so sauntered over to the stand where the TWA 727 was evidently in situ... sorry this is iconic stuff so £35 became £25 and with a Rozos Convair 440, the bill increased to £50... but both are safely back at Agent HQ... Thanks Mr Moitie..
Anyway the Goon had found the Balair DC8 that Bob Oddie had 'rescued' from our previous encounter the week before.. so he was happy..
Well if I had raided the bank for £51 million, I suppose I could have bought some of the Inflight 747's that were about - at £140 gentlemen, you are pulling our preverbial plonkers... we have not got that kind of money and they will with the numbers issued, be bin fodder..
ARD were there, nice to see them.... some tasty stuff, but the above applies, £140 for a model is a 'special' purchase..
Back to have a chat with Mr Noble.. a little bit of pressure and he dropped a fiver on a Lufhansa 727, so it was a brace of 727's and a 440..
..it could have been so much more...:D
And the time its taken to type this.. lost out on a Wong Original..!!!
Nice to see Mr Diecaster....

I gather one has cast dispersions about Luton which might put potential showgoers off...
The Toyfair is actually held well outside the environs of the Luton Town Centre, in fact held at the Vauxhall Sports and Social club, just beneath the end of the runway at Luton Airport.. ample free parking and a very short walk to the fair itself... cant recommend it highly enough....
Luton itself, the town centre is an absolute shitehole, despite the local council spending fortunes on the Arndale Centre, tarting it up, (they have the money as they own the Airport...(one clever move)) ....it aint exactly the nicest place to be.. and if the shape of things to come.. I/We is moving... (look out M.Froggy..)

I was shocked how bad Luton was last year. Had a few hours to kill so went into Luton Town Centre. I cant think of any where in Scotland that bad. First time in my live I felt like a minority in my own country. Even Luton airport was really nasty. Glad to get back to bonnie Scotland. Great Yarmouth is not much better. Not worried about the Poles and Eastern Europeans.....when their own countries start benefiting from all the EU handouts and they realise they're being used & abused by employers over here then they will go back.......if they do stay, they will become assimilated like most others and a couple of generations down the line you wouldn't know the difference, apart from the unspellable names.....have to say the Polish builders a family mamber recently used were far harder workers than their UK counterparts.....

I was there first thing. Bought a Swordfish and decerted Sabre :) . Plenty of other bargains that I'd have liked to splash out on, but the thought of another Swordfish "must have" being released next week, the Hobbymaster F-104s and the forthcoming Catalinas meant I couldn't spend out the way I did this time last year.:(
It seemed a bit thinner for diecasts this time with only Bob having his usual big display. The Luton fairs are usually held on the 1st Saturday in October and I'd expected it to be next weekend. I also heard that there was a clash with another event elsewhere which I think accounted for Geoff's absence.

Yep I was there, it was very quiet... saw that 737 at £50 and thought if that was on the Bay, I would have had it.. it was later replaced with an A300... or that might have been another seller... but you walk round and round and you realise that all is not well at all, in fact the patient is very sick... anyway that perhaps should be discussed on another thread... Saw Bob, in fact spend an hour or so with him... Mr Holt was there, even with a £27 Carvair..!! Mr Moitie with fewer than normal 1/200's.. and then I got to the sweetshop.. ARD... sod all releases for a good six months and ker..... pow.......!!!! I could have parted with about £500......
Had a good look at the pooch produce... the Swordfish is most probably the best military mass produced diecast I have ever seen, however Bob and I were of the opinion that a tight wingover could be hazardous...
.....that and the Glads was it though... the rest of the pooch stuff that appeared to be going were £35 Hurricanes....
.......There are now some new people on the block and the pooch has just let em walk in and take his bone...
Didnt see anyone that looked vaguely forum(ish) so hung around until about 2o'clock, more chats with others and finally left when the choice as to whether to buy the CP Air 727 was made for me by someone else.. .. it went..... However bought a DC9 and a 727, the latter I will be taking photos of, however everytime I wipe it clean I find yet more drool on it... so it may be a couple of days before I can get a lens to focus on it.......:D quite simply another piece of superb diecast.....
Hey ho.. roll on Huntingdon....

.. and one did......
well despite getting there an hour too early... I thought it started at 10.. it wasnt too crowded and I snuck in about 10 minutes after it opened at 11..
Bought a few planes... met Mr Graham.... and then..
....met Mr Seafire47.. I do hope yer dads okay and hes now got plenty of firewood....then Mr Diecaster and friends...
then met up with an E Bay peep who aint a forum member but as he had 4000 civvie models, reckon he's a top bloke.. someone to aspire to..... need to get himon board to fight the cause..
Then just as I was leaving Mr Aviaction, fresh from work turned up..
.. so half an hour at Luton turned into nearly 5 hours..!!
As I was early, and wasnt allowed in...I popped over the road to the outta town shopping centre where there is a blo*dy great Toys r Us... huge hangar filled with toys...
... they had three Airfix Kits and no pooch produce whatsoever.... not even a batmobile... Mr Darren/Arsenal chappie is certainly starting from the bottom..
Good day, but I cant see it continuing..... dont think the dealers were that impressed with their take.....
No ARD or Steve Holt this time...:(

Despite my doubts, some negotiation on Saturday morning meant that I was able to get up to Luton by mid-day. It was good to meet Agent X20 and put a face to the name after all this time. (Yes thanks - Dad was fine and we got the fallen tree cleared quicker than I'd expected.) I was a bit pushed for time so didn't have more than a quick look around the hall, but there were certainly fewer diecast dealers than last time.
For me the March Luton event has always been a bit special as the first chance to buy in person from the bigger dealers after the end of the previous year's airshow season, but this year Stevenage got in first. I'd had a nasty suspicion that if I didn't make it, I'd hear that there'd been stacks of cheappie Catalinas, but it seems we're still waiting for them to hit the bins.
I eventually settled for a Witty Sea Fury from Bob and a de-cert 111 Sq Meteor from Geoff. Not quite what I'd had in mind when I set out, or even what I'd thought I was going to buy when I was talking to Agent, but very pleased none the less!:)

Popped up to Luton this morning, I couldn't stay to long, had a quick chat with Agent, bought a Shuttleworth Lizzie from Mr O, model dealers seem to be getting thinner on the ground with every visit, only Geoff and Bob really with any real amount of stock.

Luton .. well a funny old day... nice to meet up with Aviaction who picked up most of the bargains until he ran out of wonga..:D .....Saw Mr Graham who was politely told that if he bought a Russian Spitfire, then that would be revealed to all on the forum... so he opted for the black lizzie instead... and what a gentleman.. he paid full whack..... yer gotta at least have a bit of sport with these dealers..!! ...you might have got 50p off...!! I think he made a wise choice.... no coercion at all...:D :D :D
Then bumped into Mr Seafire47 who was clutching a couple of Furies for a chat and I thought that would be it.. home having spent the princley sum of £2 entrance fee.... but no.. A Carvair.. 3 DC9's.. 2 ATR42's and a little painting... ah well that left enough fer the bus fare home..!!
From the dealers perspective, although it seemed busy they didnt seem to be too happy with the take, a couple stating that it was quite poor....
Roll on the next one....:D

Arrived about 11:30 and had a wander round before picking up 2 Witty Sea Furys from Mr.O - the 2 seater and G-FURY. Both very nice!:) Saw the Century Wings Intruder but at £40 a bit too steep for me, especially as I prefer the forthcoming USMC version. Surprised there were no HM Luftwaffe F-104s to be had, but had a look at their Mirages (not really bothered one way or the other) and the RNZAF Avenger, which I thought looked really good.
Nice to meet Agent X20 and Aviaction and compare notes. As Agent has said, there seemed to be plenty of people there, but the number of diecast dealers was down to 2 and they didn't seem to be doing as much business. At previous event I can remember there being a solid scrum around Bob's and Geoff's stalls and having to wait to squeeze in at the front. On Saturday (at least when I was there) it was easy to just wander up for a browse and a chat. There were still bargains to be had and in the past I'd probably have come away with a lot more. But it's the combination of less cash to spend on diecast, less storage space and the thought of releases like the Wessexes, CW USMC Intruder and HM Spit XIV still to come, plus the stuff like the TT Canberra that's still to bin that made me hold back.
Roll on Stevenage next month - time to do the Christmas shopping!

Thanks for the warning. I haven't decided yet whether I'll be going as February has been an expensive diecast month by my standards with 8 new models, some of which haven't seen the light of day yet. First there was the Stevenage Toyfair (2 x FAA Predators + Luft. F-104), then (HM Buffalo, JASDF F-104, Swordfish floatplane + Olds P-38) and finally a Jayhawk this week.
After that the finances are a bit thin and think I probably need to build up the reserves ready for the forthcoming releases.:( It's a shame it's not a few weeks later, what with a new batch of HMs due to arrive mid-March.

Yep.. oodles of bargains to be had... no real crackers though... as there is so much choice... and I feel that dealers are wanting to shift some of the stock... so prices IMHO were lower..
Serious dumping now are the sandy Ju88's at a score.... one or two Hobbymaster Harvards about for a tenner.. a stall holder wanted £95 for his silver Halifax...
Me a Carvair and a Tu154.. nothing too interesting - a bit of infilling..
Nice to see Mr Diecaster and Mr Graham....
Graham
1st March 2008, 20:55
A few bargains to be had although dealers a bit thin on the ground. Picked up the HMS Nabob Avenger and HMS Emperor Hellcat for £14 each from Mr O.
As Agent said, one stall had a pile of yellow Ju-88's at £20, mind you Mr O was knocking them out for the same price.
Seafire47
2nd March 2008, 12:21
It sounds as though I did the right thing.:)
I've already got the 2 FAA Predators for the same price, and I've got absolutely no interest in desert JU-88s at any price.
At the moment my wants list is a combination of released Corgi stuff that I'm hoping will eventually appear at a lower price (as the Olds P-38 did recently), and forthcoming releases from HM (affordable, but so many!), CW (excellent, but pricey) and Corgi (a very small number that I'll buy on release at the best price I can find, e.g. Shuttleworth Gladiator).
Now I can't afford everything on this list, without getting distracted by impulse buys of models that are just "nice to have". If I'd gone to Luton I know I wouldn't have been able to come away empty handed, leaving less cash for the ones I really want.:(

Well 6 months have gone by so it must be time for another Luton Aviation Enthusiasts Fair tomorrow. With the forecast pointing to a wash-out at Old Warden on Sunday and the Stevenage toyfairs having been dropped ,I'll try to attend for my last chance this year to actually see what I'm buying before I part with the cash.:D
Reading what I posted back in March, not a lot has changed. I've just spent more than I'd intended on another influx of models, some are still in their boxes and I'm still waiting for the Shuttleworth Gladiator! And there's still the never-ending battle between the head saying "hold on to your cash for the forthcoming goodies (HM F-100s, F-4s, Beaufighters, COW Wessexes / JU-52 / Halifax?)" and the heart saying "Ooh that's quite nice, it's way down on the wants list but it's a bargain!".

Fine day with Agent AX20 (thanks for the lift:D ) Good to see Mr. Aviaction( Did you see how cheap that 1/200 DHC-8-400 demo model went for! ) Nice event with a good range of stalls, got 1/400 ezy 737 for a reasonable £16-95( thanks Geoff) and as the party was nearly over got a Legends Lizzie for £9 minus a 1/3 and a red white/blue Hawk for £8. Lots of stuff there, few corgi bucs going for £25 and 3 different corgi 1/144 Vulcan’s and 3 Victors all at £30-35 each and not one moved.........(any hope for a 1/200th one:eek: ) New corgi wessi £30, Hawk £25 and Canberra £40.
Final purchase of the day was a FM 1/48 EL shark mouth A10, which started off as an Oregon F15:rolleyes: It is the 2nd FM A10 I have, and imho is the best diecast A10 on the market, and has enough diecast in it to make 200 corgi vampires or 300 HM UH-1's:LOL:
Some dodgy looking VC-10's doing the rounds:LOL: and a Saudia bizjet tristar 500;)

Exceedingly good day.. in fact could have been the second largest forum meet outside on airshow.. went to pick up a VC10 and somewhere along the line seem to lose a bob or two.. and came home without a VC10...
Seemed to be that one or two were flogging off their collections... Mr Noble had purchased 'a lot' and there were one or two interesting items that caught the attention and despite a 'thats the wrong shade of green' came away with an Aer Lingus 737.. Mr Moitie had a selection of Dash 8's that needed further investigation and despite some heckling, a Schwarm was purchased.. Mr Oddie was on good form and hopefully he will remember to put aside a bizjet Tristar... and that with a few photographs supplied, Mr Webb may be able to provide some new fonts for the VC10..
Mr A was on good form today and some serious bargaining was going on which resulted in carrier bags of stuff.. long time since I have seen that at a show..
Did feel that Mr Arno (military bod) would be a little out of it but he wanted a 1/400 EasyJet number... and after purchase of same, he carried round this tiny little box for a couple of hours.. however with five minutes to go turned up looking like some kid out of Crackerjack balancing this box the size of a house and a couple of carriers... Value for moneywise he wins the prize.. the biggest A10 i've seen... well apart from the kid that bought the 1/48 Ju52 for a tenner.. he looked like the cat that had got the cream... good on him..
Nice to meet one or two forumites and one or two new soon to join members....:)

6th October 2008, 10:46
Sorry to have missed the forum meet. I made it there, but for a variety of reasons (including getting lost because of the roadworks!) it was a fairly short visit.
The last one I attended a year ago was quite subdued, with only 2 diecast sellers and surprisingly few punters. This was a return to the good old days with 3 or 4 sizeable diecast stalls plus several others having a smaller selection. The hall was also a lot more crowded, at least while I was there and Messers Noble and Oddie certainly seemed busy.
A limited budget meant that purchases were limited to the new RN Wessex, which I got for only £25 from the Shuttleworth “character”, and an Israeli Witty F-16 for £12. The F-16 was in a bargain box on the floor at one of the kit seller’s stalls; 1 for £12, 2 for £20. They had a couple of Witty SU-27s in there which would have been a serious amount of metal for £20, but I couldn’t get enthusiastic about either of them (Uzbek AF and Russian AF “Evil Eye”). If they’d had the Ukrainian AF or Test Pilots versions it might have been different. I don’t know what it was about them, but they looked rather “toy-like”. I did wonder whether if was the absence of panel detailing on such large models, or perhaps the paint finish, but something just didn’t seem right. I dithered about adding an HM MiG-21 as it would only have been an extra £8, but the stall holder really didn’t help his case by slagging off the panel lines everytime I opened one of the boxes to take a look!
Tempted by the B(I)8 Canberra which could be had for £40 which seemed a good price for a new release - but still a lot compared to all my other Canberras. I’m was also tempted by the multi-coloured Catalina which was available on a couple of stalls for £35. Mr Oddie had one of these out of the box at Shuttleworth a couple of weeks ago. At that point I couldn’t decide whether I liked it or not, but it’s growing on me as the price comes down! The trouble is that I’ve already got 3 Catalinas with only room to display 1.
All in all a worthwhile visit and good to see this event thriving. Roll on March 7th.:)

I spent just over an hour there this morning. It seemed fairly busy with several stalls selling diecast. However I was surprised to find only one seemed to be stocking a significant range of new Corgi and HM releases. The others were either civvies or old stuff.
Picked up the night fighter Beaufighter (and very nice it is too!), but there was no sign anywhere of HM's new USAF F-4E and the only Pensacola SNJ I spotted cost more than it would for me to get one mail order including the p+p!
I got a bit side-tracked by a stall where they seemed to be selling off an AA collection. I ended up picking up the RAF Transport Command and Raspberry Ripple Daks, plus the 79Sq Hunter for a tenner each. All models that I'd always meant to get way back, but somehow never did. I think I only bought one 1/144 model in the whole of last year (RAF Transport Command Britannia) and I've already doubled that total after only 2 months.
The same stall was also selling some of the old Aces range for £20 each so someone probably got themselves a bargain.
I heard Bob telling someone that his order for 16 Me-262 night fighters had been cut back by Corgi to only 7, and that only 400 had ended up in the UK with the rest in the US. I'm glad this is one that I have no interest in.
Overall not a bad morning but there are certainly signs that things are changing. Even "Stig" was only selling old kits and a few Corgi Showcase models - no £20 NF Me-262s. With rising prices and diminishing quantities available, I wonder what the October event will be like.

Spent an hour mid morning, mainly a civil aircraft fair, with the odd stall with mil aircraft. One stall as mentioned was selling older AA stuff at cheap prices, was all for an Ex-servicemen stress charity, picked up the legands BA Chinook, as it was the only one missing from the collection( at least I don't think i have it in the loft:rolleyes:
Geoff Noble had a nice selection with the new Flybe 1/200th DHC8-400Q at £41-95 ! Sign of the times...... Also had inflight DC-10's Laker and Pan Am (Market value has dropped like a lead f**t on these, as originally only 16 got to see the light of day, due to licensing hassles, and the other 284 were talked about being scrapped have now started to surface.........)
Same guy was there with various Vulcans, Victors and Sunderlands at around £35 each.
Got a Spacemodel 1/100th easyJet 737 for the good sum of £50, been after this for a while, normaly around £85 mark, so happy with this:)
BO had a good selection of models on display, but missing some of the newer HM stuff as stated like the USAF F4E etc.
All in a nice little show with a few older AA bargins to be had, if you hadn't already got them in the loft:o

Yes, got a lift with Mr Agent, nice event, with even ARD in attendence, Bargins..... not to much, if your in to spam cans , Mr Noble had some good prices, not much on the Mil front, Mr Oddie being the main player. Seems as if the civil model scene is being overloaded by too many manufacturers making the same models in the same schemes:confused:

Mr Agent was seen to leave clutching a carrier bag, with 'High Quality Ladies Fashion' on the side:LOL:
Please do get it right... 'A Touch of Class - Ladies Fashions'... from Mr Noble - he had quite a supply of them and they are good camouflage and less prone to collapse unlike second hand Tesco bags... anyway I didnt need it as Mrs A is away this weekend... I bet she notices it in the pile of carrier bags...
Twas a funny old day... and judging by the body language the dealers are having a blo*dy hard time out there.. It was busy as a boat load of Aeroclassics (and AV400's) turned up last week and there is a lot of British Retro stuff suddenly on offer so I suppose it bought all the big guns out, each trying to get their share.. In addition a ton of 1/200 has hit the shores and yep this time five years ago I would have bitten yer arm off for some of the subjects, now I dunno... it's lost a lot of its appeal.. and I think the hobby has too.. you only have to look at all the squabbling and subject matter on any of the forums..
As to the Corgi stuff.... I dont think I saw anyone with a black box...certainly not a big one and even all the new Spitfires etc, no one was buying.. not even Ju52's at £39..... let alone civil DC3's..... which is a shame ...... that new 110 looks absolutely gorgeous, they have the mottling, the aerials, but no blo*dy customers.. TSR2 then , the swansong..?
Bought very little.. a Western off another collector , a DC9 with a couple of bits missing:( ... and the obligatory Vanguard... Certainly didnt get any further with a Delta Tristar that is owed, but that's another rather pathetic story..
Nice to see one or two forum bods..:)

I was in two minds about this one and only decided at the last minute to give it a miss this time. An order of 4 models incoming from Norfolk and knowing that Bob was bound to be at Shuttleworth on Sunday tipped the balance for me. Talking to him yesterday he told me that it had been a poor show from the traders' perspective and that some felt that the event might not survive.:(

That would be a pity... as for the diecast airplane collector Luton IMPO is far better than Huntingdon..

All sorts of things are beig affected like this.....I only went up to the Whitwick Aeromart yesterday after having found out that, after 14 years, this was going to be the last one.:(
