Just got this one today. Looks a nice little kit ready for some special TC treatment. Is nothing safe.......

And on a completely different and `nothing to do with this build what so ever` note, I was passing my local model shop, which deals mainly with RC models with the smallest of plastics kit stock you have ever seen, when I spotted this in the bargain bucket........:D
http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac81/tc2324/003-55.jpg
Thats right, 50p......! No idea what I`m going to do with it but added it to the stash for a rainy day.:)

Maybe some fusalage and wing extensions with 6 or 8 engines? Nothings beyond the realms of possiblity the tc's 'what ifs' And more the fun to watch for that reason :)

May leave that one for another time DC...... :D
Anyway, got my `J` kit today so will be starting this AC-130J(UK) soon. (Think that should be a pretty good hint as to what I`m trying to achieve..;) )
Have to say I was very impressed with the reference guide that came with it. Never seen anything like this before coming with a kit. Lots of good reference pictures for the more experienced modeller and not a `butcher` like myself...:D

Ok, admittedly I haven`t got much done with this so far. Although the fact that I`ve spent most of the night at the hospital being in the presence of the birth of my second son is a pretty good excuse. Spent a few hours at home just now while they checked things over with the wife, so managed to sort through the bits I need and stick the wings together. Was pretty impressed with the size of this kit so I thought a comparrision picture of this and my other `what if` gunship was pretty apt.;)

Right, back to the hospital to see if they are staying over night or wether I have a sleepless night ahead of me.......:D

Cheers chaps for the best wishes, much appreciated.:) Both mother and son are doing well, however due to a slight complication during the birth, the doctors have kept both in overnight.
So what to do...? Spend an hour on the Herc, or get a good nights kip in...? There`s only one way to find out.....,
Obviously nothing to do with the build, but heres a pic of little Sam about 20 minutes old. Can`t wait to start brainwashing him with all things aviation....:D

P.S. Before they get home - camouflage the Herc with a large bunch of flowers!

Congratulations TC, nice one.
Good luck with the brainwashing, if it helps at all, I was doing "Phonics" homework with my 7 year old daughter last week. We go to what sound "Ph" makes, and words and definitions etc, one word on the sheet was "Phantom" so I asked what a "Phantom" was, "is it a jet daddy?" she says.....
I was looking for two seat, twin engined multi role combat aircraft but it's a start.....

Promise to get back on track with the Herc build shortly once I`ve changed a nappy or two......  :D

I would say 1% deposit(!) by TC and 99% construction effort by Mrs TC. I bet she would agree as well.
I hope TC is helping with the nappies?

Your not wrong. Talk about planting a seed and watching it grow so to speak....:D
Don`t worry all, while the missus takes care of little Sammy, I`m on nappy duty with my other 18 month old son Tom, who it has to be said, produces a far more potent nappy.....
Again, thank for all for the kind and funny comments.....:D

Got the fuselage together last night and I`m surprised how complex that part of the construction was. If I`m honest, I think I was putting more trust in god rather than my modelling skills.....

Congratulations to you both TC, I'm only a few months ahead of you in the new baby game, you have my sympathies!
Great build by the way, brings back memories of building an old airfix one with my dad then using it to deliver some matchbox 'special forces' jeeps deep into enemy territory - my brothers bedroom!
Cant help but think that a diecast C-130, although highly unlikely, would be a licence to print money. The schemes would be endless, just about everyone uses them and very recognisable to the general public. Big lump of metal tho!

Cheers Scott, thanks Coastie. Very happy about having another boy. I now have a full Tornado crew....

Nice job TC :) but can I just say, how about you give the prop blades a little twist, if you look at the booklet with the "J" kit (post 10) youll see what I mean

thats what I did to mine the plastic on my kit had enough give to allow me to do it without fear of breaking them off but its up to you m8ty. BTW have you seen on youtube the "Js" doing there party trick of going 'Backwards' after landing :D

i'm gonna have to build one (or two) of these C-130s for the hobbyroom eventually ;) in late 60's RAF desert scheme and the RAF 'J' would be my preferences....not before 2012 tho...these things take room

Again, with the weather playing ball today, I took the opportunity to adjust and update this model. As suggested by Mr T, I tweaked the props so that they have that `J` feel about them. :)
