Managed to get a few snaps of this - weather did not help, as it was scheduled to do a display at 11.00am, but there was some serious mist about so was postponed until 1.00pm, when the weather was better, but as you can see from the trees in the background, it was still slightly hazy.

The one good thing was we were standing there in T-Shirts, camera in hand, only a Slight breeze, Sun shining down - Bliss sheer Bliss

BRING ON THE AIRSHOW SEASON

:) :)

To me the Spit does not look right in the scheme, just seems like a waste to me.

I have to agree with Charley, different schemes are always welcome, besides do we really need another grey/green Spit? As long as the scheme is authentic, (which it is) then it's fine by me! ;)

Bring on the airshow season? Yep your dead right tiffie, not long to wait now.

I see Alex Henshaw who tested this aircraft in 1944 went up in it again yesterday with John Romain. The flight included a loop and a few victory rolls. Hope I can do that when I'm 92. :D

Bet it brought back the memories.

Hope I'll be able to do anything at 92....

See why can't corgi produce something as radical as that then?. The colour Scheme that is and the markings. Not too sure about the the double bubble cockpit thingy though! Yuck!

erm.....I think the IAC only operated two seat versions....

Bet it wouldn't be "Yuck" if you were sat in the back!!! :p

Hmmm probably right. But from an outside view, kinda spoils the lines abit don't it. It's like "poor old spitty what have they done to it?"

Agree, you wouldn't describe it as 'pretty' however very authentic. I like it. and nice to see a different scheme!

Oh for a Corgi MK9....'Modified Tooling' for a two seat! :D

This is the ONLY authentic scheme for this aircraft ,the RAF didnt have any T9s anyway I hope to see it in the flesh so to speak as its coming to the Newtownards show ,would be nice to get pics of it beside the 4 IAC PC9s that are coming.

Charley,

The IAC also had some single seat Seafire III's. This one is from No 1 Sqn which was based at Gormanstown from 1944, however the naval gear was removed.

Don't do it Corgi......doesn't fit into a theme.....all other similar "way out" schemes have hit the bins (South Africa Bucc, Aussie Sea King, etc.....even Israeli pair now at Buy It Now at under £30).

Do it Corgi, it fits in the foreign air force collection.

Charley,

The IAC also had some single seat Seafire III's.

I believe the main reason the IAC operated the twin-seat version was to train pilots for their Seafires......
