I liked the cover of the Osprey book "Victor Units Of The Cold War" so I got in contact with the artist and got me a copy of the art work.
Here it is ......its image is about 32 inch by 22inch

fantastic bit of work that, much easier to digitally replicate the motion blur than it is with oils, I should think ;)

Brilliant prints.
I dont have any aviation prints. Years ago when I first started collecting I often looked at a brilliant website in Scotland. It was a company that sold Military prints, really enjoyed browsing that website.
For the life of me I cant remember the name of the company.
I think once the mancave comes to fruition a couple of prints is in order. :cool

I contacted the artist and asked purchased a copy off him :)
It is the cover of the Osprey book, Victor units of the cold war :) ......I think he also did the Vulcan one to.......but I think the Victor one is better :)
The artist also did the artwork of the Osprey book on the F105 Thunderchief......I'm very tempted to ask about that one to

Just the next step in the evolution Dan, just like painting on canvas was just an evolution from painting on cave walls :)

yeah i dont mind it, but its not really answered the question 'is it art' ?
bieng a talented artist like taylor(s) trudgian, west, smith, saunders to name a few and there individual painting styles is what draws and seperates us as collectors, some liking the style of one to another, can that happen with computer art??
im not sure
but like i said, i like the print

It is art.....but its not oil painting.......its just a different medium :)
Funny enough, the artist has started doing some oil paintings......and they are looking exceptionally good. He is one to keep an eye on for sure :)
I suppose the big difference in PC art, is that the image is created digitally, rather then transfered to digital. This would mean that you could transfer a whole aircraft into another painting by the press of a button.
If you could actually create a 3D aircraft, you could create different images using the same 3D aircraft, but view it from a different angle.

I think digital art is an art in itself - it certainly takes quite a bit of skill to create.
Well, you have to visualise the finished scene in your head first, then transfer that concept to whatever medium you feel most comfortable with I guess.
I like to work in 3D and then post in ps for a more 'painterly' look. It doesn't always come off I will admit.
It's a superb image all the same. Very inspiring.
