Nice place to visit CFBC, boat ride on the river, cathedral etc, also Edith Cavell's grave to pay respects. All that and a collectors fair :)

Shame the journey there is such a crap one!

my dad says that in the cathedral there was a library paid for and dedicated by lots of parents of american airman that died, but unfortunatley it burnt down.

The Norwich Toy Fair is at the Sports Village just outside Drayton near Asda if that is any help, very easy to find. Not a bad show, worth a look I would say.

Agreed Snafu, Norwich is a very nice place indeed, except the drive getting there which is not good.... I will ask Mrs CFBC upon her return and see what she has to say... Nice early morning drive, early morning walk around a toyfair and a lovely afternoon in Norwich city centre..... :D

Oh, thanks Jimbo for the directions. Appreciated. Always useful when you have never been before.

The american library was actually in the main library when it burnt down in 1984 (I think).
A replacement of sorts has been included within the new Forum building which also contains the main library.

And yes, Norwich is a great city, but I would agree with comments relating to the journey.
The road system is not very good at present.

If you just wan't to go into town, I'd use the park & ride. It's not expensive, they have nice new buses, and it saves you the hassle of fighting with the traffic! So far as road links, yes they are cr@p, the A140 becomes more of a nightmare each year, over 100 people have now lost their lives on that road(including a girl of 13 who I knew personally and who's funeral I attended back in 1996) and yet STILL nothing gets done to improve things. Their answer is more cameras, and more speed limits, and the result? It would be quicker to walk!

So, anyone going tomorrow?

If you hadn't noticed, I'm keen to go to a toyfair this summer! Maybe it's because I haven't visited any stalls at any airshows this year - been rooted to the flightline!

Looked at the Forum calender, didn't see it.
Found the thread, didn't give any info.
Looked it up on the internet for the dates (3rd-4th of Sept. unless I'm missing something), and found them doable.
Looked at the participant list, and that clinched it! Did I see a Ju-52 there? I think I did! (and this had better not be a repeat of the Duxford 3-year-old list fiasco where I got all excited about nothing!) :D

Looking forward to 18 spitfires as well. I'll be at Duxford for sure. Looks like an airshow a week for the first half of September...

Victory! Got my desired SEAC Wellie for £30!

Not to shabby for a toyfair - just got back. Nice day out as well - stroll by the river in the PM, Punch and Judy show (bank holiday entertainment for kids was on by the river), walk around town and to top it all off, a lovely sunny day!

Braniff 707s (lots of) for £6.95
Presidential 707 for £10.95
32 Mossies for £45
109s for under £30
Duke for £12
etc. etc.

Aha! So that's how it works is it? Wasn't sure if it was:
(a) get there early to get the bargains, or
(b) stay until the end to pick up what they don't want to take home!

Hmmmm, I obviously have a lot to learn. Is it the same with airshows? Bought my Biggin tickets yesterday...

Observation for those contemplating marriage - if one were to go to Diverse Images at Brighton on a Saturday, and then go a toyfair in Norwich on Sunday, one's wife may organize a party for you : -

Hey, not me today... I think that would be the case though MB.

Duties today, pub tonight!

Kev64's heading that way though. I heard there was a traffic jam on the small back roads of Norfolk due to the loading and containerising of all the AA's he has bought and as such hired the whole toyfair hall for himself!

In protest, other toyfair traders set to work ensuring he and his soon to be parted collection does not make it that far..... In shame, he can only stand and watch!

Just got back from Norwich toy fair, not too much different, 1/32 Me109s for £22 and Mossies for £32 !

Wish I hadn't bought one when they first came out.

DOH !!

Attended today, would be rude not too;) Mr J was there in force, lots of B24`s from £25-£45, Got the RCAF Wellington at £35, an old R.A.E Hunter for £10 and the new olds F4 for £35. Stinger P51 was £20 but Me109s (the newer ones) where all £35 and decerted so left well alone.New Spit prototype was £ 75. Reds Hawk was £12 and typhoons where £35 with MR J and £32 at the other AA stall, but with over 4000 of the F2`s , thought I`d hang on ....;) Some bargins to be had, but not like the old days of £6, £8 £10 etc, prices seem to be holding unlike this time last year, still NEC next week. Lots of decert stuff 1/32 Hurris by the lorry load, and a couple of Jumpin Jacques too.Lastly picked up two 1/48th Helos for £13 each.

As another a/c forum calls it.."a 'Zombie' thread" (beats starting a new-one !)

As I've STILL not got round to buying a 'Sat-Nav' (& I'm wasting it on Die-cast, instead), I figured I'd ask exactly whereabouts this 'Norfolk-Showground, Dearham* Rd (sic) is situated ???????????

Is it on the A.47 (from Dereham)......?????????

If so, sounds like a different location than the aincient 2005 posts on here ?

.....(*J & J Fairs call it 'Dearham', but It's obviously Dereham)

As you approach Norwich from Dereham on the A47, take the first turn off on the dual carriageway and right at the roundabout to go over the dual carriageway you have just left.

The fair is on the Norfolk Showground - signposted from the turn off.
