Here's a piccie of a Vulcan I took at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha Nebraska USA. I hope it comes up ok. I took this years ago. This was the main base for Strategic Air Command and there was a good museum there. The Vulcan looked shopworn but the Yanks I talked to knew all about it and they seemed to revere it. They thought it was a great aeroplane with character. It looked tatty since they didn't have the information or material to keep it up, but you could tell they admired it. It was nice to see the Yanks cared about the plane and liked it. You can see they kept the tyre covers in place. I guess I like Vbombers too. :)

Nice piccie VB3 and good to get a little history/story too...

I live near RAF Waddington here in the UK and I know my Uncle has a mass of pictures he took while he was based there... He's just got to find em!!

Hope he does as they are nice beasties... :) In their own way of course...

Nice photo, Vbombers3. When were you in the States? Some years ago a new multi-million dollar museum was built south of Omaha and the Vulcan, along with all the other aircraft at Offutt AFB, was moved to the new location.

There are three Vulcans in the US at present, and yes, the Yanks know what they are and think they're very special aircraft, indeed. The expertise and funding for maintaining these remarkable bombers is not always available, unfortunately. Thanks for the kind remarks regarding Yanks, by the way. :D

Red flag?

It's a joint multi-national fighters weapons air combat maneuvering exercise performed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Vbombers3. The Brits, sorry to say, have always excelled whenever they've performed ( :D ). The dang Valiant, Vulcan, and Victor, you'll be pleased to hear, have always ended up with top marks in the various bombing competitions held in the US.

Naturally, that's why you want a Valiant! :)

Since you're new to the forum, you'll need some guidance. Yanks, being intrinsically lazy, will habitually drop the letter "U" from such words as "honour", "favour", and "colour". Moreover, they will spell "maneuver" frightfully wrong, and they will always leave the toilet seat up. I was explaining all this to Datacroft earlier today, and you might as well just get used to it. :D

Hey, Goony! Yes, I'm alive. I just came back to see the photos of your George Turner Models 1/144 Valiant burning. Can't seem to find them..... ;)

Nice to see you are posting again Bob, need some civil support.

Surely it's the female of the species that always leaves the toilet seat Down

Bob, Complex things here. It's what I call the third option. For example, if you flip a coin 200 times the average will be fairly evenly split between heads and tails. But every so often it will land on its edge.
Or take the old adage: is the glass half full or half empty? The engineers answer is the glass was twice as big as it needed to be in the first place!

NEVER, EVER, forget to consider the third option.

What this has to do with Corgi planes I haven't a clue!

What a philosopher you are, Goony! I see three things here:

1. I ain't never forgot the third option. (Comes naturally to one who works in three dimensions.)
2. It's Corgi what's forgot the third option.
3. The relationship between Corgi planes and the third option is.....is.....

....the flippin' Vickers Valiant! :D
How can you have three V-bombers if you ain't made the third one? :D

Ahhhhhh. Valiant. The missing link. Trouble with Corgi is it will be another Vulcan, this time with Skybolts (please). And we haven't had a gloss camouflage Victor. cheaper as existing castings and a bit of plastic.
