Looking forward to visiting this island for the first time and to see the aerial and static displays.

Craig took some nice pictures on his last visit and if I can get this flamin camera to work properly I will take some as well.

The website is not bang up to date so no point in adding the url.

If you go to the airport the night before, you can get on the back of the ramp, well worth doing. Enjoy the show.

Its a week tour for us old fogies and a three day trip to the show is included riding in a Bedford OB coach :D Airside visits included.

We have had a rubbish year and need some quality time to enjoy and relax.

If you are going to be around the airport a couple of days before the display you can get some great approach shots (if arrivals are approaching from the east) at the eastern end of the airport. There is a footpath that skirts the eastern edge of the airfield that you can get to by taking the road on the left immediately after the aeroclub.

Access at the western end of the airfield is limited although again there is a road that skirts the western edge but because of the topography all you see are planes flying over you.

If visiting aircraft are parking on the southern side of the apron there are some good views to be had taking the road opposite the petrol station on the main bus route from the airport to St Helier.

( I know all this because my folks moved to Jersey in the 1970's and still live there and I spent a couple of happy summers working for British Midland at the airport as groundcrew.)

If you are talking about places to view the display from then anywhere along St Aubin's Bay will do but my favourite position was at Noirmont Point at the western end of the bay.

I don't want to dampen your hopes but I don't think there will be many stalls/dealers there. There are a couple of shops in St Helier that used to stock a limited range of Corgi AA but it was limited.

Red Triangle Stores in the Central Market in St Helier might be worth a look and the other stockist was a shop called Bambola. I don't know if it's still trading.

Red Arrows recommence public displays
The Red Arrows will recommence public displays today, Friday 2 September 2011, when they will display at the Chatsworth Country Fair and the RAF Linton-on-Ouse Families Day.

Unfortunately the Red Arrows will not be displaying at the Duxford Air Show and the Northern Ireland International Air Show over the weekend of 3-4 September as they will be attending the funeral of their colleague Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging. The funeral is private, for friends and family only, but a public memorial service will be held later in the year.

Squadron Leader Ben Murphy, Red 1, said: "Jon, as a Red Arrows pilot, encapsulated everything that is the 'Best of British'; he was an exceptional pilot and a dedicated RAF officer who saw service for his country, but, moreover, he was a selfless and compassionate friend who will be sorely missed. The fortitude, resilience and pride that Jon showed in life are exactly the qualities that define our Armed Forces and it is these that will enable us to get back on our feet and move on. For that reason, and in Jon's memory, the Red Arrows will recommence flying displays to the public on 2 September."

Hope you are all well ans will endeavour to log again after the show.

The weather is still terrible. Just got back from the airport where visibility is down to 30 metres

Could hardly see the aircraft parked up and we managed to get a small mini bus to take some of us airside. In fine weather it would have been fantastic but still managed to get some reasonable shots from inside the steamed up bus. Had a good look at the T28 Fennec and had an arguement with a guy that insisted that it was a skyraider!

The RAF central band (squadronairs, are at our hotel, and played at Liberation square.) Very good too.

Whilst there met and chatted to the local owner of the Fennec Martin Willing who signed a spare :D copy of the airshow proggy. Should make a fortune on the bay in a few years time!

The B17F Sally B was in the guise of the M Belle.

Off home tomorrow. Thank gawd as the weather is still carpy.

 Had a good look around Bombolas and the Red Triangle Market but virtually no Corgi diecast at all just fit the box stuff. There was the odd Atlas naval model but none that anyone was interested in.

Theres a very large shop called imagination on Queens road trading estate but its all modern kids games etc.

So nowt bought except imbibing juice

There are some excellent WWII German sites and met an old chum from Armortek who now manages the German Tunnels at Ho8. These were converted for hospital use towards the end of the war but never used.

Fascinating island and well worth a visit and not as expensive as I thought it would be appart from property.

Ive taken nearly 300 photos and will post the ones that;
a. Are of the most interest. And......
b. Those that have turned out with my very expensive camera  which was FREE with 100 Green Shield Stamps :D :D

I came back from Jersey on the 6th, just as the bad weather hit. Sorry to hear it wasn't good for you. I spent 5 days on the island (first time since I was a child in the 70's) and hope to return sometime soon to explore, particularly the German defences of which there are many. I visited the tunnels and found it very moving. Beautiful place.

Just going through and editing the pictures. Nothing like the experts work on here but they look good to me and well worth the 100 green shield stamps ;)
