Incredible.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow,
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget.

If they haven't done one already I think it's about time that Corgi issued a model commemorating the life of this very fine gentleman.
Blue skies Group Captain Drake.

You know I was just thinking the same thing. I would very pleased with a HM 1:48 1 SQN MK 1 Hurricane flown by Group Captain Drake.

Sad news.
Can't be many Battle of France veterans left.
I was present at Duxford at a Fathers day show a few years ago when Billy gave a talk in one of the hangers.Very humorous and sharp as a pin, especially when he described having to land a Typhoon with 2 bombs that were armed and hung up:eek:
RIP sir.
