Internet research into the history of the British WWII bombing campaign has revealed serious shortcomings. The Americans, quick to spot weaknesses in aircraft design, began secret production of a high-tech B-17 designed to correct these design deficiencies even before the initial Forts began to arrive in Great Britain.
Only now, sixty years after the fact, can the true facts be revealed from recently declassified files.
Gentlemen, I present the 17-B GNIEOB! :D

Nice one Bob :D
My research revealed that after testing at Boscombe Down, the 17-B GNIEOB, manufactured by Taken Hobby Inc., had excellent performance.
A top speed of 584 mph was recorded during its preferred regime, the vertical dive, which in turn led to further developments including;
the automatic ‘Shhito’ transponder which broadcast on all frequencies once top speed was attained
a colo(u)r neutral, self inflating, anti-discharge ‘Ohno’ under garment for all crew members
the innovative ‘Nobloodyway’ automatic pilot to satisfy the shortage of qualified (ex Bedlam patient) volunteer pilots/copilots.
Although bestowed with outstanding performance for its time, the 17-B GNIEOB’s fatal flaw was its total inability to carry any significant bomb load (3 x 13 lb smoke/incendiary ‘Smallboy’ munitions, the fourth position was devoted to the custom made vacuum flask for coffee and donuts {doughnuts}) due to its crewing requirements.
A typical flight crew comprised of 28 members including;
23 air gunners, each equipped with a 50 cal. machine gun with 20,000 rounds of ammunition, four packs of gum, six cartons of sweets, a box of cigars and a pair of sheer nylons
A Radio operator whose primary task was to monitor ‘Shhito’ transmissions
Bomb aimer, specially trained on the secret ‘Shinto’ bomb site which enabled the rapid discharge of ‘surplus’ stores (see below) on the unsuspecting enemy below
The Air Load Technician (dedicated rest room {lavatory} attendant) also charged with issuing replacement ‘Ohno’ equipment and the reloading of the very large effluent dispenser controlled by the ‘Shinto’ bomb sight
A Navigator issued with a map of the ‘best joints in town’ to plot the after sortie activities
The Air Electronics Officer who specialised in controlling the cockpit ‘Nobloodyway’ master switch and the ‘Bail out now’ klaxon
Unfortunately, development ceased after the Japanese Government cited infringement of its Kamikaze patent for aircrew selection. This led to the Japanese taking dramatic out of court action on 7th December 1941 which ultimately proved entirely fruitless.
The last known example of the 17-B GNIEOB can now be found in the vivid imagination dispersal area of Stillwater International Airport better known as Corgi field.

Wow, D/C! You've really done intensive research! You've been given access to these declassified files, then? :confused: ;)
p.p.s. Hows the undercart work..?
And, Agent, the 17-B's undercart arrangement may be clearly discerned from the photo. Two retractable main wheels aft, a skid plate under the chin turret forward. :D
I'm uncertain as to the viability of the ZwillingLanc. It's conceivable it resembles the He 111Z so closely that Fighter Command would have a field day on it.....
(great Photoshop job, though :D )

Whilst not being total on thread ( suggesting this thread actually has a set theme ) the above info reminds me of a suggestion I sent to the Minister for Defence ( before PC he had a real title did'nt he ? Minister for WAR ) during the recent Iraq Defence ( see how awkward PC gets ) . This was to carpet bomb Iraq Divisions with the contents of my cats litter tray . I assured him that if the stench from the conservatory most mornings was anything to go by it would swiftly bring about unconditional surrender . I'm still waiting for a reply though , manners of some people !!

Naw.. you see you have the pre-pro model there... :o
Because of the appalling crew losses in 1943/4, it was decide to adopt the Buy one get one free principle, to therefore utilise two Lancasters, with only the one flight crew... Admittedly you needed a few more gunners.. :D
So attached a rare photo of the production model... :D
Could do it with a couple of Lancs a sharp knife and some superglue..!!

I like it too, VB3. It would have been quite believable if Agent hadn't made a fatal flaw. He purports to show what is ostensibly a British aircraft, but one which has the steering wheel on the left!
Even dem Yankees know the Brits drive on the wrong side of the road. The ZwillingLanc's steering wheel should have been shown on the right if we were to accept this photo as being real. ;) :D
