View Full Version : Rise Soon & Skymarks 1/200th

Has anyone bought any of these. As far as I understand Skymarks are quality solid plastic jet airliners, Airbus/Boeing, with push fit wings, but much better quality than wooster/pacmin. From what I have seen they offer near diecast quality, and finish ala Starjets. "Rise soon" appear to make the Skymarks, but are now being marketed under thier own name. Good prices mean a 1/200th Boeing 747 comes in at £25-£29. There is a also a DC8 BAX Global at £18.

Does rapidly appear as though 1/200 the way to go. Herpa diecast now do B727, ATR 42, adding a Convair 440 !!! and others to come. Hogan wings, as stated elsewhere, are doing competitively priced 200th Connies and DC3's. Inflight doing older jets b707's Dc8's.
Corgi rapidly out of the picture i'm sad to say. Tis a changing market, and has changed rapidly in the two years they stopped civils. Maybe if they had not been so rapid to destroy their 1/144th civil base, they may still have had a chance, but myself, and I would guess others, can obtain what we want elsewhere.

And A Big Thank You to admin taking AgentX2O to task and offering us a 1/200th section. We can now fire some more ammo over the mil threads bows :D

Hi Goonybird

from what I've seen some of the Skymarks models are really nice - the BA 747 for example , but others are a little lacking in detail. The Hogan Wings series upgraded by Socatec are the most detailed 1/200 civvies around at the moment , all the Air France short haulers are fab. The Starjets moulds which were definitely the best available are soon to be released under the Gemini brand so hopefully lots to look forward to

Capt Bob..

Released or re-released (ie same liveries/colours different boxes..?) as Gemini..?

Is there a full listing of the models available anywhere..?

Agent nearest I could get to a listing was looking at
www.airline-hobby.com\dcsjpl.html
List is to Oct 2003 , then just looked at ARD to update. I think thats all they made. Starjet website non-existent. As CaptBOB says gemini starting to do them again under their own banner, see eastern polished on their web site.

Any 1/200 StarJets fans may be gutted :D to know that they are being dumped at very silly prices. I understand that at Huntingdon TF at the weekend a staggering 5 pounds a piece could get you some of the many Airbus A319/A320s so keep 'em peeled, at those prices they really are too good to miss.

More importantly I am told that In-Flight stuff may soon be finding it's way onto the cheaper Market, will let you know but you could be looking at low 40s, :) time will tell.

Not sure where to post these piccies. From the top down are GJ400's with a few Dragon 400. then GJ 1/250 DC8 stretch. The two 737's are unknown producer solid metal 1/250th limited run from mid 1990's, then Starjets :)

Nice collection GB. I know they're plastic but I quite like the StarJets. I have the BA A319 Union Flag tail and although I will never buy any more now that Corgi are my main collection I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

Specially place Northwest at front for Bob. And 3 at bottom left for Spock's benefit.
The old joke - " how many ears has Spock got... etc etc. :D

Bought the Airbus A380 "Skymarks" model from MZ Holborn yesterday.

Saw it and fell in love with it, not badly priced (£26.99) and good quality.

Other people must think so too....last one in shop window, though probably left there as it was right next to a three figure price tag for a locomotive in same cabinet.

"Singapore Airlines " livery, though no registration marks (obviously!)

Looks very nice next to my Concorde model.

Very nice display, G/B, thanks for sharing! And I love the Northworst Airlines birds in pride of place. Too bad their customer satisfaction ranking isn't the same. :D

Enjoy.......(hopefully!)

Hi,
That A380 look v.nice. :)
Just hope the schemes on these are accurate , as not seen yet. e.g. look at all the A380 models that appeared in old airbus livery.

Nope, just put on wings, tailplanes (optional like Dragon F14 :-)

Add wheels, engines and stand........et voila!!!
