Typhoon,
Very good pics and thanks for posting them. No pressure, but why were you at Duxford today? Something Corgi related per chance? :D What with the 'Lev' there as well and Albert going mad with the hints I feel an update going on.....!
I have a branch office in Royston and I suddenly feel the urge to visit it next week!!!
My Duxford VE day airshow ticket came through today. I hope this baby is flying then? I can't wait!

Yes it was the North side visit and mighty interesting it was too - if you have never done it - then highly recommnded.
Took a flyer (pardon pun), and bailed on the tea and biccies, and decided to go South side at 4.00pm, and luckily they had wheeled her out, as she was in the hanger at Lunchtime.
P40 was also parked next to her, but they did not start her up.
Rumours also were knocking about regarding the two mysterious Crates next to the TFC hanger - and that one maybe opened in the next few days, and a certain Hawk might be making an appearance.
I feel another visit coming on in the next couple of weeks.

.. and a certain griffon engined Spitfire in t'other... ;)
yep I did the Northside tour a year or so, map rooms and archives really interesting, plus all the other 'stuff' laying around.. lots of boxes to poke around in!

Typhoon-MKV,
I saw those crates yesterday. I thought they were loaded with 'Free Die- cast Aviation Samples' for the Forum big wigs ;)
Anyway, where were you?
From the angle of the pics, you must have been quite near! Were you the one with your dinner down your jumper?
I think we should commission Die-cast Aviation Forum T-shirts for this summer, so we can all be recognised at Airshows. Mine's the one with the Shark on!!!

Seriously,
It looks as if we will all be able to enjoy this magnificent beast this summer. She looks close to air testing and will be a welcome addition to the Airshow circuit.
She had one of her 'mates' with her!
We had a little treat there, Mr Tiffie, did we not! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Cfbc,
Go for it - a great idea.
I'll bet these don't end up in the 'dump bins'!! :D
I may even get a highly collectable, signed, low number Agent X20 shirt!
Now that would be worth having!!!!!!
Can I get one with a hole in the back for my fin? Should be a bit cheaper - less cotton.

Back on topic (guys, how can you let a woman get this thread back on topic? Come on, standards are slipping :D) Doesn't Princess Elizabeth look stunning? I so can't wait to see her fly. All that hard restoration work has really paid off - hearty round of applause for the guys who did all that tender loving care, and lets face it hard work! (mind you, it's work I'd be quite happy to do, if I had the skills!)

Had a good day at duxford today and saw the Princess Elizabeth undergoing extensive engine trials down the far end of Duxford neat the Tank Museum and beyond out of the way of happy snappers and co... :)
She sounded mighty fine and dandy, lets hope she makes an entrance to be remembered in a couple of weeks time....
Oh her tow back, managed to acquire a few piccies.... I am sure there are more to come from other members I managed to bump into while visiting...
A new thread soon also!!!

Yep a good day, and an unintended mini forum meet too! It was good to finally meet Charley and CFBC, good to be able to put faces to names and all that!
As CFBC mentioned, it was good to hear a Merlin's roar after so many months, and they certainly put the P-51C's engine through it's paces today. We took a jaunt up by the Land Warfare Centre and got some shots just before they started the engine runs.
Carolyn Grace was also out and about today, and took ML407 for a trip into the wide blue yonder.

Yes, Got to admit it was noce to see the twin seater Spitfire of Grace.... The second person in the Spitfire I think could have been her son after seeing a doc on the Spitfire, it looked awfully like him in a few shots I have. (could be wrong though)....

yep the watch office /tower is Strubby.. the Chain Home mast (a WW2 survivor) and the other dishes are at the RAF Steingot site.. the dishes are the remains of a NATO comms sytem that was abandonded in the 80's I think.. in true lincolnshire fashion they just pulled 'em down and left them where they fell.. :D they were on legs..

Well Done PJ! I was certain those closeups of PE were shot at minimum on a 5mp camera!
I'm hoping to sell my EOS3 to buy a Rebel 350 in time for Chino (our version of Flying Legends) next month. I'll share some pics on the forum if I can do the deal in time. :)
Ms. Grace... how about a Big Brothers/Big Sisters program then?? :D
