They obviously much better than any scale model that I could build but I'm not too keen on seeing them at air shows;

Quote "Fowler is building a bona fide Spitfire squadron from scratch that will take to the skies within two years. This is no schoolboy fantasy. The squadron has been approached for major events in Germany, Holland and Sweden, for the Air Tattoo in Fairford in 2013 and the D-Day anniversary in France in 2014."

It won't sound like a Spitfire so leaves me cold I'm afraid.

The article says the exhausts are tuned to sound like a Merlin. I have nothing against them and would like to see whole squadrons of them at airshows. If I had the money, I would have one in a shot! If I had the real thing would be too scared to fly it.

Still....

Gleed was only as tall as me and he was a great fighter pilot so theirs hope!!

But with 250hp as against c.1000+, they still won't sound the same.

Well for starters you could most likely recruit Hammond from Top Gear :LOL:

Once the entire Squadron is airborne and performing a fly past it might sound like 2.8 full sized Merlin's. Do the math. ;)
