Fatal Balloon Accident - Carterton New Zealand leaves 11 dead

A tragedy in every sense of the word :(

Dead are the pilot and 10 passengers, 5 couples from the greater Wellington Area (lower Nth island of NZ).

The pilot was a very experienced aviator with more than 10,000 hours logged in fixed & rotary winged aircraft as well as balloons.

The eye-witness accounts are horrifying to read & listen to, condolences to all families and friends, a dark day in NZ aviation history.

A tragedy indeed. I wonder if the article is correct in describing it as a hot balloon as eleven people sounds like a high number.
