I think they are going to get a lot of 'mileage' out of that Nimrod. Plenty of schemes still to do. Still interested as to the details behind Corgi's first 1/144 helicopter!

I don't collect 1:144 scale aircraft but these are a very nice addition to the range. That vietnam cammo on the Connie is superb! :)

The Connie and the Nimrod have had a negative effect on my future bank balance. I hadn't considered extending my Connie collection but this one looks particularly good.

Nimrod and the Herc on the list immeadiately. Heavy consideration to the Connie.
I remember from an earlier discussion Albert says he was looking into 1:144 sets so I assume that the Pavehawk comes with it?

On further examination of the Nimrod look what is on the wing hardpoints..........Sidewinders!

Definitely like the Nimrod and the Herc, but not bothered by the Connie.

The Nimrod is a must have. Not keen on the Herk. Not sure about the Connie (it'll probably look better in the flesh) - I was hoping for a Warning Star.

At last, a Nimrod! :D The Herk and Pavehawk dio was a nice surprise too. Oh dear, I thought I'd stopped collecting 1/144 scale, but with the RAF E3D Sentry too I will denfinately have to reconcider!

The Sikorsky Pavehawk is from the US Division's Showcase collection and just happened to be close to 1/144th scale, so we decided to use it with the Herc. tanker.

....you haven't seen the line-up that Corgi have got planned for NEXT year, that I'm working on now   . More from the 'wants' list - Corgi know there is now a lot of stiff competition out there and we have to meet this head-on with something the others are not doing! I AM paying attention to the Forum, as the Marketing Manager hasn't time to, and passing on all the 'wants' (the sensible ones! :o ) to Corgi and here we are - we have a result!

Albert,

I have to agree with Bob. This is the most exciting batch of new releases that I can remember. Please keep up the good work! Now, can you also fix a Lottery win for me so that I can afford everything that I want from the catalogue ? :D

Nimrod is a definite so gotta start saving now. The Connie looks sooo tempting but then i will need the Vietnam Herc to go with it and i am already playing catch up with so many of the other earlier releases

We will now require an R1 Nimrod and one of those new Sentinels to finish of a modern RAF Waddington diorama since the new Sentry AEW Mk1 is arriving soon(ish). Can we have an R1 Nimrod first half 2006 please. The Sentinel will have to be an Airfix jobby.

Think it'll need some modification to the tooling as the R1 has no MAD boom, and the "current" MR2 looks like the boom is cast as part of the whole fuselage.
As you already know 51 Sqn is the only unit flying them, so I really can't see corgi making the modifications for just one model.

I agree that the Sentinel would make a great kit!

ForkTailedDevil

Well, squeeze as many MR2s out of it as is reasonable, then redesign to make a Nimrod AEW and an R1 to finish of the set. It'll keep me happy

Ah yes the Nimrod AEW saga! I remember in around 1989, those airframes all sitting at RAF Abingdon covered in protective film. Apparently they couldn't re-convert them back to MR-2 standard so presumably they all ended up as razor blades!

I actually saw one of these fly at Finningly air show one year. One of them also ended up as ground engineering instructional aircraft there a couple of years later. I have one or two photos in my collection but wasn't in the habit of dating them at that time. Shame.

Just saw a retailer listing the Nam Super Constellation as this

"Corgi 1:144 Lockheed Super Constellation EC-121R Korat RTAFB Thailand (AA35103) "
That would mean it had this sort of history

"The Air Force converted thirty ex-Navy EC-121Ks and EC-121Ps into EC-121Rs. They had Serial numbers 67-21471 -- 21500. The radomes and the AEW equipment were removed and they were used as airborne relay stations to detect and transmit signals from air dropped seismic devices dropped behind enemy lines. Based at Korat RTAFB Thailand the Rs processed data received from Beech QU-22Bs, which was picked from seismic devices (called ADSID) planted along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. "

It was on the BBC website a couple of weeks back. I agree it will be sad to see them go, but the Cold War is well over and they are needed elsewhere. :(

Curse you Albert! Just when I thought I could get away with a 'Hemp' kipper fleet Nimrod and call it a day you have to talk about the first MR colours......then I suppose it will be a Nimrod R, then an AEW 3..........

Will we be getting the Pavehawk here in the UK as a Showcase item in the near future. I'd conisder a few for diorama building. Team it up with the Furuta MH-6 and u get an instant Hulbert Field. Also, how about a respray as a USCG Jayhawk t go with the USCG Hercules. Any way Uncle Albert could pitch a request for Pavehawk Showcase models and an HH-60 Jayhawk to the higher ups?

Thanks for the link to the piccies Arno.. those Nimrod piccies are a darn site better than the CHC offering but IMHO it just looks too plain, the finish should be more glossy.. ah well we shall see how far it gets .. if it dioes hit the bins then boy theres one or two that are going to have to eat humble pie all the mouth they are giving it... :D

It has a run of 2300 on the paperwork in the box, Some retailers have sold all there ones, but looks like a marketing ploy, release a ltd amount of the run, then the demand will go up, and then slip another 1000`s out. Saying which , it is a nice model and I pleased I have got it. Not so happy with the MC-130/ HH-60 combo, the herk is very plain, no other markings, or chaff of flares and the HH-60 is a major let down, looks like a cheep kids toy, the demo one had external fuel tanks, which would have looked better.
I think Corgi, need to look at there 1/144 tooling and catch up with the rest of the other model firms, the nimrod is nice, but for new tooling, it is very retro , early day AA.

Gald I haven't ordered the Herc/Pavehawk. From the looks of it the pre-pro Balckhawk was far superior. Will just try to get hold of a Dragon Blackhawk and add a refuelling probe if I ever buy the set. Also, is the Pavehawk not meant to be black?

Just got to say congrats to all at Corgi for the Nimrod. Picked mine up yesterday and a real corker.

Spend the first few years of my working life on the AQS-901 acoustic processor for the Nimrod and spent the odd week or three at RAF Kinloss. Scotland in December, happy memories...

Just arrived ,Herc and Nimrod, dissapointed with the Nimrod, looks totaly wrong the hound has screwed up with this one,the Herc I like, the Pavehawk looks OK but comparing it to a Dragon one its far too big and FTD its supposed to be Gunship grey only the army 160th SOAR MH60s are black ,airforce are grey or lizard camo.
