NeilD

thats what I was wondering... saw it advertised in one of the model mags and I think in Aeroplane Monthly as a 'special offer'... that was a couple fo months ago...

..its mentionned on Mr Tricatus' site, but no piccie

Damn - yeah - good point it was in Aeroplane magazine and I was going to order one, but forgot, and heard nothing about it since.....

News on the BBMF 'Pegasus' Dakota seems to have gone very quiet.
No mention of it in Aeroplane/Model Collector. Wonder if they didn't
have enough pre-orders and have abandoned the idea.

Would be a shame as one of the few Corgi models I was looking forward to.

The Corgi Showcase version has come out, so the research work has
already been done and would just be a case of scaling up.

yes I forgot to order one too! I was even going to pay full price, but don't tell anybody!!!

Glancing through the September issue of Model Collector I see that it is still being advertised. I suspect they are waiting to get the order numbers up before commiting ?

Ordered mine from Die-cast collector and haven't heard a thing. I seem to remember that the first place I heard of it was in a CHC newsletter ... but at that time they didn't seem too sure if they were going to get any.

Might be worth asking them again?

I fancy this aircraft however is it still to be produced as a legend?

NeilD
17th August 2004, 20:31
spoke to guy who buys stuff for BBMF and they've not seen/heard anything yet..

maybe worth ask CHC when we meet up on Sunday?

Mine arrived this morning and I will update my website later this morning with it. Surprisingly it comes in the LEGENDS packaging (so the u/c is stuck down)and does NOT include a LE certificate (unless mine has gone astray). Note that the original production run was quoted at 2000 models, but where is the proof ?

CFBC
23rd August 2004, 17:10
Ohhhhhh nooooooooooooo. Tricatus.... Thats PANTS.... No certificate and a Legend too?

They have 2000 to shift and it cost you £20+?? Very ouch........

Much I would love one, I feel that is bad.........

I was going to order one of these!

CFBC

My thoughts exactly as I did prior on the other weathered one and look what thats at now!!!!!!!!!!!! Was a bad move..... No offence Corgi, but no cert either.......

Mine arrived this morning

Just thinking where my dak was, and lo and behold turns up this morning!
Not impressed that it is packed as a legends and haven't found a certificate. I was also under the impression it was limited to 2000 (must have been a misprint for 20,000 !!!)Although should have sussed with the lowish price, as daks are usually £29.99 retail. I suspect this will appear at your local toyfair for £12-£15 quid soon. Otherwise nice model.
Only thing is whether someone can confirm the underside, as mine has no roundels.
BTW - This makes 3 versions of ZA947. What was that comment about Valiants!

tricatus

No roundels or reg on the underside of mine.....

Going by the photo of the BBMF Dak elsewhere on this site (in photo threads),
the underside blue looks completely wrong!.
Looked in Model Collector Magazine today and inside front cover has ad for their special BBMF Dak in 1/72nd (sic). LOL. :D
On the relative page it states that this is limited to 2000 and not available anywhere else.
Still think this will appear at 'fairs cheap though.

NeilD
24th August 2004, 19:34
yeah the underside should be a pale grey/green colour.. also th emodel suffers from 'shiny' camoflage paint by the looks of things.. a real disapointment.. I'll have to retract my statement about being willing to pay full price for one!!

Its a shame this aircraft has been so badly done. BBMF is popular so I cannot understand why they did not produce it as a proper AA. If it was a proper AA with cert they would have sold them very quickly.

In total agreement with your A/C... It is a GREAT shame it's been released as a Legend c/w that packaging as they could have done such a wnderful job as a proper AA c/w:-

1) Decent packaging.
2) Certificate.
3) A bit of history about the plane, roll and the BBMF
4) Leaflet & subscription included in box to BBMF to support them!!

Now, they have 2000 of them, so who knows if they will hit the markets, but be interesting to see.... I would like one, tempted, but - who knows?

Can anyone post any piccies in the review section?

Well lets be honest anyone with a bit of sense would have done a series of the ****** things, I mean two spits; a hurricane; a Lanc; a Dak - hello anyone there......

Already been done in plastic - wasn't a big seller, the box set contained several Spitfires (five I think), two Hurricanes, two Chipmonks, a Dac and Lanc all with B of B Memorial flight colours, plus a limited edition print - got one for £30 at Duxford two years ago reduced from £90

Perhaps Corgi aren't daft after all!

I think a full BBMF set in 1/44th would be a great idea. I really like the 1/44th fighters so I would welcome more/

There was the perspex boxed 3xset 49501 with lanc, spit, hurri in 1/144th. Seen occasionly at toy fairs but probably quite rare now. add the dak and youre about there. Be nice if Corgi re-released this with updated schemes, maybe with a dak??

Mine has arrived. Fully agree with the earlier comments.

1] Legends packaging [which I guess I expected, but what a shame.]
2] Bright blue, not even "duck egg" undersurfaces. [I don't know what particular colour they were trying to recreate but it looks b. awful], unrelieved by any roundels under the wings... is that right?
3] Although I haven't measured it for comparison with other models, the black of the de-icing strip along the leading edges is very heavy handed. If to scale I reckon it would be about five foot wide!

As a Dak fan, I was really looking forward to this release but, [alongside the TAF support version with it's chrome wings] IMHO they have blown a great opportunity to produce a super and highly collectable model. [it's the BBMF's for God's sake!] A major disappointment.

Get a grip Corgi! FYI, kids don't buy and collect Daks ... adult collectors do ... and we demand better than this, even in Legends. Especially if you expect us to pay "rrp" for it.

Loft fodder dammit.

I was disapointed when i saw the photos.. obviously doesnt get better in the flesh by the sounds of things.. worse thing is its a current a/c so there cant be any debates over colours in old phots etc etc.. shame

Mmm. Funny thing that. The astrodome featured on earlier models in both the catalogue and even on box illustrations, but were never carried through to the actual models. IMHO a great pity. They will of course do better in 1/72?

Even if it were I would suspect that the old adage about "leading horses to water" would apply on this one!
