Convair is excellent you will not be disappointed... ( it is small though..)

707 is Inflight... usual high standard.. English down one side Afrikaans down the other.. ( what really narks is that corgi could be doing this with 737's.. 1-11's..)

That Convair is a cracker for the money. And that inflight looks loads better out of the box. Somehow don't think corgi would be in the same league. What reggie is it? I've probably seen the real thing.

Depends which ones they are...

Depends on yer point of view...

The last one the SAA one was £60 after a little haggle.. but that is brand new just out and I havent seen em on the Yankee sites..

Some of the older stuff has been dumped, but thats nothing like a Corgi dump.. you are talking runs of 200-250.. (Cargo versions about 100).The pants is the USAF grey TC18 707 and that goes for $49. (normally the starting price.).. some may like it..

The rest seem to go for £75 - $100 ish..

Then yer have postage..

Then yer get customs.. perhaps..

So add $14-18 postage.. $25-$35 if its insured.. BUT if its insured yer may pay Customs..

I have found uninsured by far the best.. and the only problem I have had with a non appearance was from Mr Fraudster.. so thats a lost $90...( he may pay up yet.. I count that one as lost.. cos Paypal are absolute anchors... but thats another story..)

So we is between $90-$120....which puts it cheaper than the UK BUT the gap is narrowing as the exchange rate falls....

If yer can get em for £56 (£75 less 25%) then thats good.. as long as it dont cost you £50 to get down there.. can I ask which ones they have... and are they okay.. never dealt with them (yet) I gather CAM have a sale on - I emailed them and got sod all as a reply.. I dont wnat to go all the way down there to see naff all in their sale..

There are however one or two which are starting to fetch silly prices... basically anything Pan Am and some of the Braniff 707's.. (one of the latter they only did 48 of)

And some NEVER come up......

Anyway.. a cheaper alternative came today.. a Skymarks 747.. its the 'other' colourful one.. the other manufacturers aseem to have opted for the red one..

At the price of a Buerling Spit, I know what I would rather have... although these may never be worth much.. I do like em.. although before anyone states, yep they aint as good as Herpa (£50) or Inflight (£150)

Agent X20
18th October 2005, 21:37
Guy stuck up 5 VC10's.... turkey shoot time.. naw.. they were at good money..

Well I didnt bid $250 for the BCal one...
The BOAC one I had...
The Super BOAC one I couldnt find a photo of to see what the differences were to the Standard..
The BUA one I screwed up on the bidding.. well the computer went slow and I lost track of time.. :D

So kind of a second thought ended up with the RAF one..... but I like it...

However with postage and Customs (another 50% on top of the models price)she came to nearly £120.. think they are only about £130 new ( can you still get em..) ... ooops... but hey..

The bidding just showed how much of a favoured bird the VC-10 is... Is not a terribly good model either.... :D

Betcha Inflight come out with one... If its early BOAC (blue tail white stripes) I will buy at RRP!! mmmm...

Anyway a couple a piccies...

Anyone got a Pan Am billboard 747...??

That is a lovely model that Herpa Pan Am and I cant see why it is so cheap.. everything else Pan Am is a licence to print money.. I got mine at $38 from the States... Just need the Inflight Billboard Pan Am to go with it, but the sods want $350 for one...

£50 is very good and at that, shopping over here becomes viable again... there been one or two interesting pieces on the Bay of late.. just havent got me whotsits into gear into getting them.. only problem I have is that the ones that are missing are the expensive hard to get ones... there was a set of the Braniff 707's at $600 ish.. I should have had that..... kicking meself..

Agent X20

Invariably some of the older stuff tends to command the higher prices as it depicts the aircraft of yesteryear, however for some of those models the quality and finish is rather suspect.

From the JTA official precision models comes a lovely little YS-11.. it comes in variety of guises.. this was the Southwest Air Lines livery..

If I see anymore of these, I could well be tempted and at about £20-30 they are affordable(ish) .. they somewhat raise the ante in prop driven models.

From the Inflight website...
We are proud to announce a further six new aircraft under development which will be added in the near future: these being the Boeing 737-200, Boeing 737-300, Boeing 727-200, McDonnell Douglas DC-10, McDonnell Douglas DC-9 (series -30, -40 and -50), and last but not least, the McDonnell Douglas DC-8-63.

For the second half of 2006, we are looking at a further wide-bodied aircraft to be added to the collection, as well as the first InFlight 200 propliner. ... gonna be expensive year then...

Photty of recently acquired Gulf Air VC10. :) Made By M.A.M. which appears to be another associated with CAM? 1/200th Solid metal. Appears to be decalled, but lacquered over the top. Undercarriage white metal and quite crude casting. Overall a sweet model. Only real gripe is still not correct appearance to nose/cockpit??

Working from home today and postie turns up.. result..!!

Air Macau (Cargo) 727 turned up today all the way from HK.... looks like a Herpa to me... cant complain as packaging with these is excellent.. model totally sandwiched in a plasticky foam... Model well detailed and compared with one or two of the Westerns I have recently purchased really is far superior to some of this older stuff that I really should give up chasing.

It does look a bit bland with no windows, but its different :D

I gather this is the 'Herpa' one is the 100 which also encompases the latest Phoenix releases, the TWA and Pan Am ones.. yummy.. and the Hogan Sabena one.. very yummy... Add then the Lufthansa, Hapag Lloyd and Bare metal AA one and theres a few dollars gone..!! ( and Agent only has this one so far.. been too busy wasting time on Western Models and Yankee sellers trying to roll Agent..)

Then for the later marks and longer fuselages, there will be the Inflight ones.. no doubt hundreds of em.. at some rather good prices, I gather about $60.. as long as that translates to £30.. and not £60 things should be okay.. :D

A year or so ago I accompanied the Goon on a Huntingdon jaunt... The Goonybird has very sharp eyesight and plunges like a fish eagle when prey is in sight.... so much so you are normally left talking to yourself for some time before you realise he is off haggling with some poor dealer, giving the guy real grief and thats justr to get a couple of bob off.... me I go for the atmosphere and a few chats with the dealer folk... hey ho..

Anyway the Goon picked up a 1/300th StarJet and a show or so later he pointed the very same package out to me sitting on a dealers table in with all the other StarJets... it was as per his original purchase a fiver... and so the Agent purse was prised open, and after the lepidopterists were shown to their seats, the model was purchased and brought back..

Well its been sitting around the Agent household and I really ought to do it some justice as it is a lovely little model...

No 1. It is most probably the heaviest civil diecast I own apart from the Inflight 747's... if I threw this at Mrs Agent she would not get up.. it is solid...!

No 2. It is by far the best packaged model I have EVER come across... foam on the top, then a series or 'sorbo' rubber sheets...reveal the model in all it's glory...

No 3. .. and it aint that bad...

what it does tell me is that it is time to get some studio lighting and a proper set up, the fuselage is metallic, but it aint metaflake.. :D

Anyway.. I attach a couple of photos.. if you see one at the shows, I can strongly recommend it, however I WILL NOT be held responsible for any further purchases made or financial loss sufferd by those who come over to the 'gaily coloured' civil side... :D :D :D

Such a shame it wasnt a Pan Am or BOAC scheme.... Hey Ho...

Bobs looks to be 1/1..

The Inflight one is 1/200

If thats not what you were asking then its.. (in old money) 14" long and 12" span... bout the same as a Corgi 144th 707. Its kinda the maximum size**, IMHO for diecast, they are very very heavy and hopefully the U/C is of a non deteriorating alloy.. (unlike Westerns.. )

** you wont see these in 1/144, they would just be too big for volume stuff, and too heavy to be solid diecast and keep the U/C to scale, if hollow then we we back to joint lines.. :(

Excellent model... will go away now as no doubt Goony will be on soon extolling its virtues... me.. time to pay for the 737... :D

What bowls me over is the little details. Note the red plastic lights and antennae on top of the fuselage. the twin clear plastic landing lights in the wings. The detail underneath, Metal wheel hubs with rubber tires, and the vents etc. The wing root join, while noticeable, is extremely well shaped and blended. And last is the detail in the Tampo printing, the wipers and emergency cutout sections. I don't beleive anything else comes close. And regret not collecting from when launched at Heathrow fair a couple of years back.
Now if they could get those lights replaced by mini LEDS........

One of those moments to savour... Post Office left a card stating that they had tried to deliver a package... ooooh.. goodie.. pop into sorting office on way back from meeting.. go to sorting office, pick up parcel... sir, we have another one here for you would you like to take it with you.... result...!!

American Pan Am collector is selling part of his collection to fund a Pan Am Inflight 747 so he sells his Pan Am 727 to fund it.. for $27 BIN... ( £37 here..) Was really worried that it would be damaged but no... model is gorgeous... real metal finish so it has that tarnish about it and an evr so ever so tiny mark on the middle jet where the plastic has rubbed... just see it in photo 2... the mark in photo 1 is a hair.. The yellow is cheapcameraitis...

Well that was a result...

and then... well, most probably the best die cast.. naw.. definitely the top ten... absolutely gorgeous.... I can see why collectors are going for the sixteen individual registrations... You dont have to like civvies.. I am now glad Corgi hasnt done one as they wiould have blo*dy awful joint lines...

Hogan 1/200 Concorde... G-BOAC (£39) (£44 inc pp)

and superb packaging as well.. they deserve sucess with this....

Highly recommended.... makes the Corgis.. and even the likes of yesterdays Westerns look like toys... roll on Air France....

Both models - very heavy...

Agent X20
8th March 2006, 22:20
Its Phoenix, they do that one and a TWA one... (when Mrs A is out I will photo that one.. bought that at £25 with the Lufty one... - Luton)

The scrummy one (727) is your Sabena one which they would not discount at all at Luton, (£37) so I think it might be Customer card purchase time and a trip to those 'ard people.. as I am also missing the American and Hapag Lloyd... thing is at these prices...they are excellent value and so so much more professionally made than the pooch attempts at civils.. plus they give me a buzz which I aint had for a long time..

8th March 2006, 22:20
Is that Pan-Am 727 in 1/200 scale as well?

Looks a lovely model.

Agent X20
8th March 2006, 22:20
Yep.. 1/200 both of them.. sorry....

When the sun shines, I will take em outside and wind the f stop up as far as it will go on me cheap and cheerful and take some proper photties... I only managed 5 minutes snappy time tonight before Mrs Agent came back..

BE CAREFUL if you are after a Hogan Concorde, seem there are one or two offering same scale Concordes on the Bay at the £50 mark which are not the Hogan model... it should look like the photos and of course come in that blue box packaging...

You need to start the collection as soon as possible... abandon all other scales.. in fact send Lofty Agent a couple of grand and we will furnish you with your very own bespoke 1/200 start up kit.. and within weeks you will have recouped your initial investment as now you will be investing in real metal..

All 1/200

Herpa 727 Lufthansa.. diecast
Phoenix 727 TWA diecast
Herpa Convair 440 Rovos air.. Limited edition ( supposedly)

Light poor today in garden... imminent downfall expected...

scramble
9th March 2006, 15:41
I've only got one Herpa 727 the AA one with tarnish and all...that's what put the brakes on for me, but after these pictures... am seriously re-considering, problem is where and when to flog the Dragorgi stuff!!

Agent X20
9th March 2006, 18:06
Bit like that meself and then I thought... if its not tarnished, what would it be... well it would never be mirror finished -- okay the real thing wouldnt have a fingerprint on it, but the metal would not be perfect.. so actually the tarnished look is most probably the best they can do... and it is miles better than silver paint... so now I can accept it - am a happy bunny..

Funny though how your taste changes over a week or so.. I dont know what it is about those little Convairs but I think they are sweet.. wanted the Lufty one but the one at Luton had a bent tailfin... so I bought the Rovos one, its an LE anyway, it was the price of one of the 727;s and I came away thinking why?.. cream finish yick, looks tobacco stained...

After a week its really grown on me and it is a very sharp clean model... in fact one of me favourites... it also photgraphs well...

Hogan 1/200th Concorde arrived today. G-BOAC, may have to get the fleet?

Corgi just lost the plot not doing this plane.
Comments about lack of schemes invalid. Hogan currently doing Air France and British Airways, But, have done each registration so you can collect the whole fleet. As Agents comments, peeps are collecting the whole lot:eek:
And have red "fag packet" and landor schemes to come, as well as Pepsi, Singapore and All those "what might have been".

can't wait......

15th March 2006, 18:21
In a way glad that they aint as no doubt we would have seen a blo*dy great join line down it...

The Hogan one is excellent, well packaged.. i thought at first it was too big as Concorde was a relatively small plane, but no .. its 12" and a teesy bit over.. exact..

Agent X20
29th March 2006, 15:37
From the States.. £9 each including postage... and thats buying at retail prices..

ModelPower (also being branded elsewhere as Del Prado..)

FW200, well I thought it should have been bigger, but no to the mm, its to scale... the DC8 alongside just shows how small the Condor was.. Nice model and I never thought I would see an FW200 in 1/200 at £9...:) or one for that money with a swastika..!!

YS-11... Crap scheme, it should have been an airline, but hey at £9... Its shown against the Hoghan Southwest Airlines model which is at least twice the price.. It is clearly the same mold, the Hogan having that shade more detail...

DC3 - This does look a bit skewy, the tail is wrong, but it IMHO compares well with the Herpa and certainly with any Western that is 10 times the price. Feel that they have just used any old font for the registration..

All models had little blemishes on them, the finish and quality control were not as good as some others, but we are talking a fraction of the 'normal cost. In comparison, the likes of many of the Corgi 1/144 models are simply crude, especially when it comes to the likes of the undercarriage.. both the Condor and DC3 have intricate undercarriages, compare that to the Corgi 144th Lancaster..:(

Next up is Ju52 / F27 and Viscount. I have a feeling that the latter will put the £125 Smallworld Viscount in the shade... ...Better get me order in...

Unfortunately apart from an Italian flying boat, all the other models that they are doing in the series are of different scales, i.e not 1/200, pity that the Comet and Caravelle are 1/250.. which I find strange as I would have thought an FW200 was the same sort of size...

Only downside, is that you have to cut open the packaging...

Nice piccies AX20. I'm waiting to see if they appear over here.
BTW get "Airliners" this month (the American Magazine-not the UK one)
Great picture article on Braniff DC8s inc. the Calder.
In my opinion they looked better with the Two-Tone as opposed to the mono pastel colors on the 7-0's:)

Agent X20
29th March 2006, 18:40
Oh, they will be over here soon enough no doubt and at a fiver..! I was however pleasantly surprised.

The Inflight Braniffs, I missed a set (6) about a year ago.. $650.... hardly small change but I dont think we'll see another set.. theres only 48 of the light green..:(

Pity I dont collect 1/400ths as Aeroclassics have just come out with a set of 6 coloured Braniff 727's.. very scrummy..

Anyway heres the last couple of recent purchases the Calder DC8 and the all time favourite blue 707... $155 for the Calder..<ouch> and $65 for the blue horror..

Calder is as per the Swissairs.. they came with detached nosewheel.. no time for gluing today too windy .. too cold.. I am going to have to get a tent and spend more than a hundred or two on a camera..........

.... makes yer larf when you can get the Corgi 707 for a fiver....

Nice photos, Agent, thanks for sharing. New camera?

Agent X20
30th March 2006, 20:41
No its not a new camera, its an old un, in fact two... a Fuji 602 that I bought sometime ago which was a couple of hundred and then on reading up, I bought a Nikon 995 (off E bay for not a lot of money at all... they are supposed to be good at closeup stuff.. and it is... although the 602 has a higher f stop..)

Then we (thats I and the Merlot) had a sit down and had a good think about it... need huge depth of field.. so need light.....

So its outside (inside and flash is carp..) two sheets of wood at right angles and white paper stapled to wood so it dont blow away...... (the professionals use a tent and lights), then the whole image is taken for a roller coaster ride with Micrographix Picture Publisher which I do like, alothough it doesnt have the 'layer' features that the more modern stuff has, i.e. if I cock it up, I can only do one undo..:D This creates a far brighter sharper image.. which then is dramatically sized down for forum publication.

Tri does it a lot lot better, but there again his equipment  must be fifty times more expensive then mine, however his images and subjects are larger, (the subjects... a lot lot larger.. thats my excuse..)

When the photograpic market settles down then I will get something decent, however the prices over here are plummeting at present.. but that of course could take the 'fun' out of it.. am still looking to do a hangar and odds and sods, but its very delicate, living with Mrs Agent can be like walking on egg shells sometime..( but we all suffer that..)

As I dont really have the space to display them, photography is the next best thing...:D

30th March 2006, 21:07

Surprised when postie delivered my Inflight 200 Alitalia DC8 this morning from Hong Kong. (well quick)
Appeared well packed. and box inside absolutley new/mint.
lifting polystyrene top revealed one main undercarriage come adrift, but the other one snapped. (note these are cast metal)
Now the way these boxes are designed, with compartments, the only way the wheels can get from the model (where they should be) to a corner compartment, is that they were put there like that before packing.
So, extemely wee'weed off. (Agent thanks, you did hint at this guy!)
Probably just have to write it off, down to experience.
Otherwise despite Green titles looks really nice, and will deffo have to get the matching hogan caravelle.

Sorry to hear that the wobbly wheel curse has gotten to your Alitalia - this guy is a ferking menace and the next time (thing is there wont be one..) I will leave negative feedback - he was the seller, well that sorta feedback, dealer with the 'dirty winged' DC8..

Did the Alitalia come with the little strips of polythene.. that usually gives a clear indication whether it is new.. if those look like they have only been 'sat on' once by the model then it could be new, but of course that doesnt explain how the wheels got from one part of the package to the other.

Think some sellers must think we came in on the last banana boat:D

But prefer larger models.
Certainly in retrospect Corgi could have wiped the floor if they had gone 1/200. But crucially were (ill)advised to go 1/144 in what appears to be an attempt to protect the 1/200th market by those same advisers!

Sixty notes seems to be about the average at the toyfairs for the 707/DC8 range.. and they are £75 with the 'usual 10% off' from the dealers.. The pound dollar parity gives you a chance at about £50 from the States but then you get the odd one going astray or coming in busted.

SAS not out yet..:(

Love the 727 since it's in my favorite color scheme.
I had occasion to fly in Convair 580s many times in previous years onboard North Central Airlines based in Minneapolis. Like many others, they've changed over the years. They became Republic Airlines when they bought out Southern Airlines. Later Republic bought out Hughes Airwest, and were then in turn absorbed by Northwest Airlines.

Sort of "the big fish eats the little fish.....the bigger fish eats the big fish"...& etc.

Nice to see these, Goony, thanks! I wonder what year the C-880 was released? Cathay Pacific's livery is striking and one has to ask him/herself why Jet Wings was allowed to reproduce this color scheme when Corgi was not.

17th June 2006, 21:39
Bob. I've never found out why Corgi pulled the Cathay 707. Is it the case that they could'nt get permission to use the colour scheme, or did Corgi have second thoughts about the model, thinking that it probably would'nt sell well?

Unfortunately the recent purchase of Digital Photo illustrated (for the Canberra article) just showed how lacking one is in the 'quality' camera department and that one really should invest in a proper bench, liights, etc to take the photos on, let alone some sort of SLR camera..

I took the last two models and next one out in the garden yesterday..

....whilst the sun was shining (as can be deduced by the sharp shadows) the wind was a killer.. it was gusting all over the place and at one point blew me bit of card all over the garden... Fortunately £100 worth of diecast was not sitting on it at the time, but it will if we keep taking the piccies like that, only be a matter of time..

CFBC
15th July 2006, 13:06
Yeah, agree with you Agent and think I should invest in a bit of lighting and benc as you are thinking, but in the camera department i am happy as although I would love an SLR, it's the dosh and then lugging everyting around with you too and lenses, etc... Ok, my pics are not perfect, but at least I can lug the camera all day without 10kgs of gear and still be ok at the end of the day..... Oh and it fits in a small rucksack.....

Gaps on the civils are tiny compared to Corgis gaps (Going by pictures). There will always be gaps it just depends if the company makes an effort to reduce them as much as possible.

Agent(s),

This is a pointless debate as we obviously both have different views. I agree that the limitations of producing a diecast model will produce gaps etc but I am happy to put up with some of the limitations. It seems that some models will get bashed over it whilst if it is a civil aircraft it appears to be OK?

I don't think you Guy's will be happy until Corgi go bankrupt.............

 Shuttle

Agent Carr
12th September 2006, 23:29
Biggest gaps at the moment appear to be in Corgi's finances........

AC - come over to the "Dark Side", A nice Inflight Japan Airlines DC8 - would probably hit the spot......complete with 'rising sun' on the tail:)

Do not tempt me.

Do not want Corgi to go bust I need something to laugh at!!!!!! (Only joking)

From what I have obsereved the Civil makers go to great lengths to get the model right. Corgi do not even bother and are happy to make 39 models with the same flaw.

Aviaction,

I think the new Witty and Hobby Master models are certainly getting better and I hope Corgi respond with their new models. I have seen the civil aircraft being produced but I am not interested in them. However, as Agent Carr has pointed out, Corgi have produced models that until recently no-one else has bothered with. These include models I am very interested in as an aviation fan. For that reason alone I am glad Corgi have been around. I am saddened by some of their marketing decisions and their QC issues and I hope they can turn it around. I just find a lot of the negative discussions detract from what should be a relaxing hobby....

Yes... its is that magical fairy dust that all 1/200ths are blessed with...:D :D :D

This does seem to be a problem with

Metallic Paint
Using sunlight as the lighting medium
Using photo enhancing software.. to 'blur' the refelections will then lose the model detail..
The reduction of image size to 700 pixels across
The reduction of image size to under 100K
The fact that the model is tiny... so the Metallic flakes are way out of scale...

There again, it could be the operator (as he was sober when they were taken..) .. some days are better than others...

I do like the caravelle, wonderful piece of aviation marvel from the continent! The first caravelle actually had a comet nose section, which explains the familiar look of the cockpit...at least on the real bird. I don't know, but the windows do not look correct...too small, or the silver framing is too thick...and the curve of the cheatline seems inaccurate too. look at the picture of the real bird!

I see what you are saying Mr ETOPS, however for an old **** like me, this will be the only time I ever get me paws on a bit of diecast that resembles a Caravelle.. what has gone before pales into insignificance and what I could produce would look like a piece of doggy doo... Unfortunately I dont have the millions to commission my own casting..:(

So I have to like with it.... I know its wrong, but its the only bit of French sexy stuff there is amongst all the Boeings..... The Swissair one came today.. the cockpit is even worse, but to me its that vision of 1960 something....:D

In Minneapolis in years past the skies were filled with Convair 580s. They were operated by North Central Airlines (photo #1), which changed its name to Republic Airlines (photo #2), and after it absorbed Southern Airways and Hughes Airwest, it repainted all its aircraft to appear more modern than they really were. (photo #3). Of course, Northwest Airlines - watching this activity from the sidelines - decided enough was enough and so they bought out Republic and all became Northworst. More's the pity.

Minneapolis is on the Great Mississippi Migratory Waterfowl Route and so North Central adopted a flying duck ("Herman") as their logo.

These 580s were exciting to ride in: the initial acceleration on takeoff was huge (puts jets to shame), they had the proper amount of vibration and shaking which convinced you that you were, indeed, flying, and the noises of the fuel pumps, flap motors, and such were harmonious music to a prop-lover's ear. Too bad they're history. :p

Very nice Mr A, but where's the Union Jack on it? do like the old Concorde (god that sounds wrong :( ), but prefer the later "Union flag" BA ones. Is a bit of a beast. On a connected note, do any of these manufacturers do the modern British tour operator etc liveries? I can't say as Hawiian air etc does anything for me, but if could get an Airtours 757, Britannia 767, Go 737 etc, I'd be tempted.....:cool

Craig
15th April 2007, 22:23
Modern??!! Go have Gone  Britannia have gone (TUI at the moment and changing again?), and I don't recall Airtours for a good few years.....Woosters push fits are fairly plentiful but don't expect stunning detail. (rather cr4p really)

That Air france is a stunner-one to get. :) But my salary hasn't gone up 90% in the last ten years (radio article last week) :(

Yep, all relative Aviaction! Airtours is MyTravel these days (but the Airtours livery is far smarter) and Britannia is now ThomsonFly, but as you say the push fit stuff is all I can find. Can get them for about £7, but somehow they leave me feeling pretty unsatisfied. Does anyone do any of this stuff in metal? (personally I thought Britannia's final blue scheme was pretty stylish) Surely some of this would be a good bet for a manufacturer? Is frightening how fast all these things change, Go was the last airline I travelled on.....:o

Can't say I have ever picked up a civi diecast and studied it but your pics usually suggest that the fit/finish and general quality (for the money) is better than the military stuff.

For comparison I would say that GA have the best military WW2 castings to date and since this company have been making civils for a lot longer I guess that these are better still? I would also guess from your posts that Gemini Jets are by no means the best civi's out there?

So how come civi's are generally better quality than the military stuff?

Agent X20
23rd April 2007, 20:46
Civis are better than... (well lots would say that they are not..) the military stuff as IMPO there is very little detail to a civvie as far as the casting goes... its all in the tampo printing/decals..

As to Gemini... gawd.. I wouldn't know... some of there stuff is good... some not so.... At 1/400 the propellor stuff really suffers and looks a little poor....

Move up to 1/200 and IMPO its about the optimum... You can have DC3's and 747's.. that you couldnt do in 1/144 (a 1/144 747..  ) and a DC3 in 1/400 is just too small... If der hund had gone for 1/200 or 1/400 then with half a braincell there would not have been any concern at present over the civilian brand..

Anyway when you can get 1/200 models like this for £45... 'kin jewellery..

Very nice Mr A, Aeroflot's new colour scheme is certainly eye-catching. Nice to see you return from your absence! :)

Great pics Agent especially the last two Varig's, just love that Airline scheme:cool:

Picked up a Varig 747-400 myself from ARD on Saturday but unfortunately was only in 1/400:D . Beautifull looking model all the same:)

Nice pair of Varigs. Iconic scheme, unfortunately another airline consigned to history.
At least you could read the reggies on these without binoculars.

Phoenix (or is that gemini:LOL: ) Tu134, I suppose your piccies may have looked better than mine

woo... hoo.... 500 posts.... that would only take a day if we were talking 1/32 brown jobbies...

Your piccies may have looked better.... but you chose to invest in literature.. (he went home with a box of books ...bulk deal..:D :D :D )

Pan Am is the sweetest though...:D However if the Gemini/Phoenix .. (new merger) 134A had been iconic Aeroflot then that would have taken the gold award.....:cool

Have to sort out that BEA set... but guess what..?... its raining again...
