24th August 2004, 18:40
I agree with you guys about the 110. It's the obvious choice. It fought in battle of Britain and then went on to perform many other functions including a very successful night fighter. Loads of variations possible. Looks great too. There's a great one with complicated radar equipment on nose in RAF museum at Hendon. That would make a superb model.!!!

110 or Ju 88 please!
Red Leader

Ok I'll give you the Ju88 too! That was probably the German's most successful and versatile twin engined plane throughout the whole war! It definately deserves recognition.

yes CFBC,although i would like a 110 first any new german tooling is welcome and would be a sure fire seller,as long as its not sandy cloured, still a bit a mileage left in the 190 ie home defence type. I wonder if chc are delving into a german diecast

Me 110 for first sure, both as a collector and if I was wearing a Corgi hat! High profile, major B of B player... lots of variants and other schemes to go for. [I can hear the chorus for a NF version even now!]
If they do as good a job on the canopy as they did with the Stuka I'll be a very happy anorak! :p

In order,
Ju88
Bf110
Me262
The possibilities for the Ju88 are most attractive. Imagine the night fighter with some nice photoetched radar antenna bristling from the nose.
Corgi, there's a gold mine for you in that casting!
And think of the box set possibilities;
-Lancaster & Ju88 night fighter
-Ju88 night bomber vs Mosquito NF

It was the Focke Wulf Condor that 4 engined bomber. It was used ver effectively in Atlantic on anti shipping activites. Yes thats a great suggestion cause all the 4 engined bombers are allied so far!!

minter
6th September 2004, 11:33
either would be great,but i thought a 1/72 109g before a 1/32 wheres the logic,marketing strategy in that ... over to you agent :)
Agent X20
6th September 2004, 12:10
Corgi and marketing strategy are not good bedfellows in my book.. hopefully they will now steer clear of a 109G in 72 scale and give us something that is not available in that scale such as a 110.. This duplication is getting a little silly.. P51/FW190A/109E/Zero (!) Hopefully if Dragon venture into the RAF market it will be something a little more orginal and not a Mk 1 Spit/Hurri.
minter
6th September 2004, 13:40
hmmmm dont they always go for the ovious/popular types? Like you say hope they stay clear,it would have to be something pretty spectacular in the spit/hurri line to make me buy it

Well, I was strollingthrough the CFBC Mansion Grounds today in my dream and low and behold through the lower part of the grounds I noted two aircraft landed, well on closer inspection I did see what I thought was Mr M/B and friends getting ready for a few hours in the sky..... I just happened to have me camera handy and managed to capture these prior to their take-off South......
Luckily I was not seen and I managed to evade capture, find this old thread to post my pictures and let you guys have a good luck...... :D

how about rudels anti tank stuka.. minimal tooling changes.. and those lovely 37mm cannon. he was after all the most highly decorated german serviceman of all. ! golden oak leaves diamonds swords etc. shot down 30 times, destroyed 11 aircraft, 500 plus tanks, a battleship a cruiser.. he created absolute carnage. and even when he had a leg amputated he was back flying within a fortnight ! beats the hell out of douglas bader. never expected his fw190 to come first as i had never heard of it.

The most requested aircraft in this thread were the Ju88 , Me262 and Me110. Well Corgi have come good on 2 out of 3, and not bad efforts either. IMHO.
I loved the suggestion of a dogfight double set with Lancaster and a German night fighter. That would be a great set, but would sell an around £150 RRP.
The demand for a German night fighter is very high, and I am surprised that Corgi have still not picked up on this yet. Strange that they had done 2 wild sow 1/32 Me109’s , and no Defence of the Reich until this last Me109 release.
With all the demand for an Me110, I cannot see why Corgi has ignored this model. Going for a Gladiator was brave, but surely not a wise as going for the Me110. The gladiator has few adversely fighters it can be displayed with. The Me110 can be displayed in dogfight pose with loads of the existing Corgi fighters. Hell, it can even be an escort for Corgi Stuka’s , He111, Ju88 and Ju52.

Agreed, they could throw a Beaufighter into the bargain, I know it's not german, but hell, what with their habbit of turning their aircraft from one nation to another (back to front) and saying it was captured blah blah...........well you never know

Personally I'd LOVE to see someone (comercially) brave enough to launch/release the one major B.of.B a/c that gets CONSTANTLY overlooked.
The Dornier Do 17 Z.
There's enough scope for various colour schemes ( & nationalities).
I'll have one Eastern Front in white distemper & one in traditional R.L.M. 70/71/65 with Croatian markings please........
Shame it'll most probably remain just a pipe dream - It's ALWAYS interested me more than the '111 or '88 ever will - yet THEY are always available in kit-form & (now) die-cast.
Will just have to make do with the (near-miss) 1/48th Inj-moulded Plastic-kit of the Revell '217.
