Hello
The wife wants to go to Bluewater (Kent) tomorrow. Does any one know if the Model Zone has any bargins at the moment ?? I have already got the Jetks, RAF and Mischagen B24's.

Any body been up there today ??

David,

I was in the ModelZone today at Bluewater. They have the standard Corgi AA's on sale much the same as the other branches. The RAF B-24 seems to have sold out now. At £30 it was a bargain.

DC - They have the 1:32 Unwin Spit with ground crew and dawg... on offer (in the window). You could always put your name down for the two MZ commissioned Hurricanes whilst you're there... :)

Looks like there is nothing new :( Convinced the wife not to go this weekend.

Off to China next week for a couple of weeks work. This should let the hard pressed bank account recover. Maybe when I come back there will be some new offers.
:)

I was surprised that MZ persist with some of their RRP models. 2 weeks ago the RCAF welly was still up there at £80. Hartman was also there at £89.

Arn't you better off spending on die-casts while your IN China rather than MZ?

Then again maybe a bit un-proffesional returning with a suitcase full of die-casts :D

Don't know if it is of any interest but as at this afternoon the Sutton Modelzone has two Wellington special duties (AA34804) for £29.99 (each!), in addition to the usual stuff

Reminds me of a corny old song along the lines of "what did Della wear (Delaware geddit?), she wore a brand New Jersey" and so it went on.

Well Im off to Blue Water again tomorrow. Is this going to cost me dear:confused:

Wife is comming too (must be the vibration from the engine ;) )

Thinking I might get me a Kent Spitfire..... going to read his book after tail of a Ginney Pig, so might as well kill the inevitable desire for his spitfire now.:)

I'm back from MZ Bluewater and I have returned empty handed :(

All the B25's were gone except one Tokyo Raider in the cabinet. No B17's to be seen.

There were 6 Jerks Naturals at £30, 5 Malta Wellington at £30, 1 Barkhorn 109 at £40, Burma wellingtons at £30, 1:32 109 Gotz and red 6 at £40,

1:32 Park and BoB VC Hurricanes were on display. I had a real close look at them both and was more than a bit disapointed at the finish.

The pilots looked terrible, the radio wire's were fraying, the Gun Cover etching on the VC hurricane looked awful. The paint finsh looked very ropey, leading edge of the wings was all over the place.

I had just been having a close look at my PRF spitfire, so the quality of the 1:32 Spitfire was fresh in my mind. The quality of the Hurricane is far below that of the Spitfire.

The Quality of the Hurricane makes me think that some one was told to " Just get this one finished ! we won't be doing any more 1:32 castings" . I shall make a prediction  The Hurricane is the last of the Corgi 1:32 castings  I really really hope I an wrong..... thankfully I normally am :) but I got a bad bad feeling man :(

Shame the comments you hear on the Hurri are mostly negative, as many were really looking forward to it to go with the Spit.
You can always do what I'm gonna do dc, wait till they get to £25 and do a re-paint.
Then again, most people got into die-cast to avoid having to do that:rolleyes:

£40 would be the maximum I would pay for the BoB VC, but I think it will hit £30 on the web. The Park Hurricane is very poor, I bet it drops £20 like the Stinger Mustang.

I think I would be tempted to do a weathering job on the Park Hurricane. Would not need an air brush then. You would only need about 4 different colours and a few brushes (bit of dry brushing :) )

I am really worried that this is going to end the Corgi 1:32 venture. I am glad to see the 1:32 Lane Spitfire is starting to get higher prices on Ebay....but one hot day don't make a summer. Most of the other 1:32 fighters seem have a high of £40.

With the FOV chalange comming, Corgi should be looking at a RRP of £45. This is what the US would pay for them, so they must be able to sell them at a profit at this price.

On the other hand, if Corgi do stop 1:32 they may become a rare beast.....only 100,000 in the whole wide world  ....better snap em up quick

The Hurricane has been well thrashed out.. somewhere along the line it all went a bit tyts up.. nose colour decals wing undercart string and now pilot and guncovers.. why they think we need all the gimmicks... IMHO they knew at Head Kennel that it was basically incorrect but they have published and be damned... I dont think its the end of the 1/32 line, just a disapointing setback... and for many we wont have a Hurri on the shelf with a Spitfire..

I think you will see the likes of the 190 P-47 F4U and Zero before they are done..

Yes the RRP is high... but if you mean those FOV 1/32 jobbies in the black boxes with the polythene see through.. they look crap.. and itys unfair to compare the pooch produce to them. the ones that do look goog are the 1/32 plastic jobbies...

I hope you are right, I really want an FW190, P47 and Stuka:)

FOV are about £30 so I would judge that the better Corgi Quality would make a Corgi RRP of £45 realistic.:)
