Picked this up today... great little model. It's models like this that make me remember why it started collecting in the first place.

Why is the "disco light" pink and the M60s silver:confused:
CFBC

Disco light is actually red, not pink.. Must be the flash.... :)
Although, the M60's are silver...
The casting itself is top notch, I am impressed.... Although, does not take much!

Disco light should have a mirrored finish witht O/D top so looks like the paint will be out.

So you don't like your models in mint condition then :)

Prefer accurate especially with helicopters as I have been around them so often.

Lets hope Corgi USA sales team can actually shift a few of these ( if they cannot sell these then the Hound will just have to accept it is always going to be a bit part player stateside ) and we will not have to worry about container loads turning up in 3 months time .

I think the Blackhawk will sell well in the States, its on the news and in papers virtually every day not to mention the thousands of pilots and crews who may want one .In the UK only rotorheads will want one and some of them will wait until the specialised ones arrive. For the US a good idea ,for the UK A Wessex would have been a better bet.

Got to agree with that. Looks a very nice model, and I'll probably pick one up at some point, but not the most varied of types for me and it makes very little difference to me which one I have. should sell well in the States, but I certainly don't want more than one in my collection.

OK just opened mine:( ITS GREEN ,Blackhawks are Helo Drab which is almost grey certainly not this colour which seems to match Tamiyas olive drab spray which is not OD at all,"disco light" red WTF thats going to be retouched ,rotor head is too heavy and does not have the correct two stage main pylon .Good things the fuselage is accurate with hardly any panel lines and a very fine aerial on the tail.Verdict, nice accurate molding let down by poor painting.

I have had an eye on both the Blackhawks and have ordered the US release. However, I 'cracked' yesterday and bought the first Blackhawk. I think all the Corgi helicopter's have been well executed and the Blackhawk maintains this trend. Very good detail (including a very fine 'whip' ariel) and a great cabin interior. It appears small but has got a great presence and looks really nice with the Dragon 1/72 scale diecasts. I would definitely recommend this one if you are a helicopter fan. Corgi have already announced some new variants but the 'DAP' version would be awesome!
Here are some shots with the Corgi RN Sea King and a Dragon 'hummer'. Not strictly accurate but it gives some good scale reference.

Has anyone noticed that unlike the Sea King or Chinook, the Blackhawk only comes with one set of rotor blades :(.
sniperUK
30th April 2006, 13:51
Tha Blackhawk does not have the same amount of flex in the rotors as the older Sea King etc so the blades provided give a reasonable representation which can be used for parked or flying.

I was involved with these Blackhawks and chose the U.S.Coast Guard Jayhawk scheme for the next one, which I'm sure you've all seen in the new catalogue by now. Also a Royal Australian Navy grey Seahawk....well some of you said you wanted a Seahawk....

Good choice on the Jayhawk Albert one for me anyway, hope the 160th SOAR MH 60 is on the cards sometime.

Have to agree with Agent C, Jayhawk looks very good. I'll be struggling to choose between it and the Aussie Seahawk, will probably be down to what the finished models look like (had a BA chinook with v bad QC which has left me a tad nervous re the finish on distinctive colour schemes) but one will find a home.:)

At Norfolks finest for £11-95 for double vision.........

Wow, that is super low - and another indicator of the predicament Corgi have got themselves in. The Blackhawk, being the current US helicopter of choice, should be a big seller. However, at nearly £40 it was always going to struggle.

It is supposedly de-certed.....even though my records show it as "not limited", so presumably it just has a sticker and a hole punched in the box.
Still a good price anyhow......if J's can sell them for £11.95 you have to wonder how much Corgi sold them to the retailers at and whether Corgi actually made a loss....if not it just shows how over-priced they were originally.....

TDM,
With both Hobby Master and Witty producing good quality planes at reasonable prices I am hoping that Corgi wake up and smell the coffee. £40 for a Blackhawk is mad, £30 for a Spitfire is mad and £40 for a Meteor is mad. I bought the Witty 'Flanker' for £30 at Duxford. It is a massive bird compared to a Meteor. The Witty Sea Fury will retail at £20 - a bigger beast than a Corgi Mk Vb Spitfire...... Corgi need to sharpen up.

They've got to......all die hard collectors know that even the best models are getting dumped by 6 months old to meet the bean counter's cash flow requirements....the Corgi rrp is fast becoming a irrelevance and the de-certing has only made it worse by the way it is applied to everything after a set period.:(
Keep on harking back to the He111+V1, stonking model that with carefully controlled supply I would happily have paid more than £28 for if that was what it took to get one BUT it now seems almost inevitable that all the models are binned, regardless of quality and demand beyond 6 months. OK, the cert may be gone but good grief.....set the lower price to start with and lets get some reality out there...
Sorry, just had a particularly stupid person to deal with at work so had to vent off somewhere!

Next 'UH-60 Blackhawk' will hopefully be a US Presidental Flight VH-60 Whitehawk in the same classic dark green/white scheme as our Presidental Sea King.

Albert,
Nice - though you will need to produce a Merlin to make the next 'Presidential' helicopter to keep the series going. When are we going to get a 'DAP' Blackhawk?
