Does anyone have any good colour photos of any original airline vehicles from the 1950s-60s? If you want airline vehicles, I will need some period photos of BEA, BOAC and British Eagles vehicles that we can work with. I can only find distant shots in the background of airport photos.

what would be nice is the BEA bus in 1/76th (as the matchbox one). Something I believe Bus collectors would dearly love. But again lack of schemes would limit it. Three at best?
Notice EFE have got a proper RMA 1/76th BEA bus coming later this year.

Can anyone give me a heads up, on where I might locate an airport worker figure? In particular, one that is directing an aircraft to a parking spot with flashlight wands. I am looking for something like this, or similar, around a 1:34 scale, but anything close would do, even if it meant buying it as part of a set of figures. Thanks.

Albert,
I'd be keen on some 1:144 'generic' ground service equipment such as refuelers (generically: red-ESSO or yellow-SHELL), generators (generically: white), and towing tractors with bars (generically: white or red). That would be a heck of lot easier for collectors of the Corgi diecast AND kit modellers to add interest to their collections without being too 'airline specific'. Generic passenger stairs are always a problem as more often than not, they have to be airline specific. In my case, I replaced the Corgi passenger stairs by grabbing a 1958 Monogram TWA Constellation kit and adding the correct era airline markings myself, as seen below. (The figures are Preiser 1:144 airline crew, self painted)
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm82/upkeep/DAF/cpa_britannia_departures550.jpg
That 1958 Monogram kit was approximately 1:131, but with a few modifications, it works very well. These passenger ramps are now 100% historically accurate for CPA ca.1961+. I sure would like to be able to add some generic GSE, as outlined above, to my displays.
Of course, I would also be happy with BOAC marked GSE too, as I have about 3 Corgi BOAC models that could stand to be tarted up on display! (2 Britannias and a Stratocruiser) Some decent passenger stairs as well for this airline (ca.1958) would be most certainly welcomed, and due to the high volume of BOAC propliner models out there currently, it could be viable.
If this stuff was made up well, priced decently, and marketed properly, you'd also attract those who kit build 1:144 classic propliners, as the forums often seem to have people who are inquiring as to if and/or where they may find these accessories. There is still a lot of interest in 1:144 within the kit building set, and it my observations that there seem to be quite a lot of them out there.

Thanx. Yes -- the Stewardess is on the top of the second ramp. I found that I only had to cut the TWA steps down one level and everything matched the doors perfectly. Yeah -- I'm pleased as punch with the way all of this has worked out.
Nice EFE Duple Vega! I grabbed that one too, but it is WAY TOO BIG to fit in with my 3 Corgi BOAC group. Now it sits alone, away from any BOAC aircraft. A real pity, actually.
That's the problem I find with 1:76 and 1:43 airline vehicles. They really want to be mixed in with aircraft.

However, just picked this up. Made by Schabak so quality not as good as some models but looks sweet.

I know most of you guys are into the retro stuff, but every now and again there is a call for 'contemporary' vehicles. And like the retro world, precious little is available in the scale we'd prefer.
I ran into a number of modern ones (1:76) when trolling through one of my favourite online retailer in Liverpool [ HERE (http://www.ehattons.com/stocklist/results.aspx?searchfield=British%20Airways) ].

Creative Master Northcord not only does the BA one above but also does a number of Heathrow specific buses [ HERE (http://www.ehattons.com/stocklist/prodlist.aspx?ManID=104&PrTyID=152&ScID=1) ]. There are about 4 on the page and all are 1:76 (OO).

OXNMM056 1:148 British Caledonian Airways Morris 1000.
OX76CA024 1:76 BOAC Bedford CA Minibus.
Got my hands on a Bedford CA. Note quality of finish and deatil on Oxford diecast is improving rapidly. Lovely little model. Shame my Revell 1/72 BOAC 707 doesnt have wheels. :o

Would this be the item you speak of Mr. Aviaction?
If so, this 1:50 model is currently available directly through Goldhofer [ HERE (http://www.goldhofer.de/gh-en/shop/artikel/Modell_AST-1_Metall_Massstab_1_50.php) ] for €60,00. Looks like there is a drawing of an airplane on the side too.
Tempting . . . :cool

Yup thats it. I think there are a couple of versions with minor (serial number?) differences. However 60 euro is almost 60 quid at todays exchange rates.

Depsite recession and no wonga, managed to snatch this of the bay. amazingly came from the same seller the Emirates 777 came from even though was a completely different search criteria. and similarly not expensive. ;)
Cracking model.
Wiking 1/43 (BIG!) Rosenbauer Panther Fire engine of Newcastle International Airport. Apparently quite a rare ltd edition?

And another Vanguards 1/43 Ford Anglia I wasn't aware of, so had to get one.

I saw that Emirates 777-300 over at DA.C. Impressive to say the least. BTW: I had a bit of smudge on a pax window (actually a double offset print) on my AF 777 and was able to remove it with a flattened toothpick soaked in Testor's Model Enamel Paint Thinner. I just lightly rubbed it back and forth and the smudge just eventually went away. You might want to give that a try on that smudged 'CY' on the roof. The model is well enameled white with a clear coat so the tampo printing just sits on top -- rather precariously I might add too.

A couple of 1:200 retro collector chaps have decided that waiting for GSE is getting beyond them, so they are taking the matter into their own hands.
According to [ THIS ] (http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/1-200-scale-model-aircraft/98513-announcing-gse-200-bea-bus.html) announcement, a different-than-Oxford 1:200 BEA d/deck bus will be produced for the retro collector.
The mock-up photo looks pretty crude at the moment, but if this can be swung, we may have a new and interesting source for European retro GSE!
There has been chatter about stairs too.

Rather tempting, if I do say so myself. I rather like this one. :cool For the record, eHatton's is a real first-class act, as I've bought from them several times before.

Yeaaaahhhh . . . both of the above are out of stock now. The lower one is on it's way to Upkeep Manor along with a nice EFE 1940's Guy Arab II Marleybone 23 grey d/deck jobbie.:cool

It's a future-istic looking piece of kit, airport appliances usually look ahead of their time in my opinion :)

Just got the Oxford Diecast Morris 1000 Van in the colors of British Caledonian.
actual scale is 1/148th. somewhat smaller than the 1/43rd version in my collection.
Nice little addition. Possible better match to Corgi 144 Caledonian Britannia, but compared to 1/200 architect model cars in my collection, it appears only slightly larger.
Finish and detail is good, but shocked to find it's body is plastic on a metal base (Oxford Plastics?). note the RF BEA bus is metal. Must be the only way to get clear windows.
So for about a fiver posted, a bit of a bargain compared to other suppliers.
So next to my Inflight LE VC10.
