Thanks Subs... Could very well be my next purchase if the price drops a little bit more from £24.99 (Play.com). :)

Acquired "Company of Heroes" last week and been playing it now on and off for a week or so.... Pretty neat, some good touches and the game play is good. A little like an updated Red Alert style come WW2 Normandy landings etc...

A lot of cut scenes, but on the whole very good.....

Love the Shermans!

Just playing the Campaign at present, not tried online or skirmish as yet... Acquired mine via Amaazon Marketplace for less than £20! :) Keeping me quiet a few hours.

Looks great, but I wouldn't buy out of shear principle. Contrary to to what many Americans like to believe, they didn't win the war alone! If it had to option to command a British unit, then I may be interested, until then it's just yet another "the Americans won the war for everyone" scenario!

Sorry to be so negative, but it really pi$$es me off! At least in IL2, there is a recognition that the war was fought between many nations. Even the British Pacific Fleet is represented in the Pacific Fighters add on, something that many Americans are totally unaware of, or unwilling to admit the RN/FAA contribution to the final defeat of Japan!

Sorry mate, it's just how I feel, and no I'm not anti Amercan as many here will indeed know!;)

There just seems to be an unending bias toward US subject matter in the military games world (probably cos many of the game houses are American of course), IL2 FB/Pacific Fighters being of Russian origin seems to be much less biased and offers the player much more diversity, you can even be Romainian! :D

Love the Shermans!

Have you used the Sherman calliope yet m8 ?
An upgraded version of the M4 Sherman, the Sherman Calliope has a mounted rocket projector rack on top of its existing turret. Designed to lay down a barrage of deadly fire, the Sherman Calliope is well suited to removing enemy fortifications and troops with its deadly barrages.

Whooer, not yet.. Just on the level with the bridge that needs building! Learning still, but love the whole game... Used to love Red Alert, but was so false, but this is more accurate....

A British version would be well  indeed... Also love the P47 straffes too! Don't like the wreckages when they are downed though.. :(

OK, for the uninitiated, what on earth are you talking about? Is this X-Box or PS2 or PC?

Last 'storm the beaches' game someone foolishly let me have a bash on had me pinned down for an hour on the beach. Got so hacked off , started shooting my own company!:o :D

I played the demo this week downloaded from this site and anjoyed it up to a point. I thought the renditions of the small infantry squads were excellent in the AI and weapon damage accuracy etc..... Camera views are excellent etc..:) ...But I get really narked by seeing opposing armour trying to ram each other and taking shots at each other from about 2 feet. I know the developers have to try and code the game to make it fit a small screen but the sight of Shermans and Stugs bouncing off each other while blasting away is just nonsense. Brings a potentially good simulation down to arcade level. I think the best pc simulation armour actions are still to be found in the ageing Panzer Elite. Overall I think company of heroes would have been much better if it had kept more to infantry on infantry actions. That said I'll get it in a couple of months when its reduced to about £15.:)

Yup, my limited stategic skills can cope far better with the simple maxim
'forget the flami*g fighters, it's the blo*ody bombers we want' . :)

Still, Xmas Day sounds like a good excuse for a shoot-em-up on the beaches on a PS or X Box!

Oh sorry, did a BoB quotation slip in back there? ;) Duxford,Sat 17th March 2007..... Be there or be square!:D

Still yet to get the first one, really want it now as they have had excellent write ups, but can't justify it as I'm still working my way through Medieval War II and losing badly :( typical

Ohh you gotta get the first one, put MW2 down now. Its so damn good especially the defending missions. Think i had the cook and a mg team defending a hill being overrun by stugs and won, some nailbiting stuff.

I have both but havent played Opp forces yet been a bit busy. :(

Blimey there's so many good games out and I'm playing catch up with the last five years of releases. Plus new ones on the horizon like Unreal Tournament III and Crysis. Not too mention Gears of War jumping from Xbox to PC
But I do prefer the RTS so there's Supreme Commander and C+C Tiberium Wars to look out for but COH is definitely the next one as WWII is my thang.
Oh not forgeting the Half life Universe and Warhammer, when will it stop

If you like the old strategy games you should try Combat mission really poor graphics but the gameplay is exceptional. 3 versions out desert, russian winter, and western front which you can get dirt cheap. :)

Ah some many games, so little time. Come back to me in 6 Months time for an update on "what I'm playing" (could be a new thread?) , should have finished MII:TW by then
Good heads up on the WWII RTS's though and of course Half life will have to be visited soon, still stuck on Doom3 and Quake 4 and to think I was deluded enough to believe I was any good at FPS's
