I will first order the colourful 1940 F4F3. For the "Dora" I haven't chosen yet  ...

Yes, the D-13 would definitely be one to get, aside from the unusual paint scheme, but just the fact its a D-13..;)

So, what do you Luftwaffe heads make of this scheme, especially the upperwing surface. It is the same Fw 190 on the cover of 'JG 26 a photographic history' by Don Caldwell,on the cover is the Jerry Crandall print.Crandall is well known for his research into his subjects, and his picture looks nothing like the model:confused:

Please ignore my blatant iignorance but which one of the three is the D13? (I believe the 'red underwing' FW190 of the Papegai Staffel is a D11  ).

The D-13 is the Pic I posted 3 posts ago Cardinal, with the very strange Camo:unsure:

Thanks Prune, that's the model that will most likely be the most popular, which is possibly why they're limited to 2000 whereas the other two appear to be 1200 each. The camo. may look strange but it is downright purty if you ask me :D.

Done a bit of googling, and of course, this is the yellow 10 preserved at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, and the colours are spot on (I'm pretty certain the restoration team would have got it right).Great, now I can get one:D

has a MG151 firing through the propellers hub instead of the cowling MG131's of the D9.
The "red belly" FW190D is a D9 too.

The D11 was fitted with 2 MK108 and 2 MG151 in the wings, but production was never launched.

The D10 had 3 MK108 (wings and propellers hub) plus 1 MG151 assymetrically mounted in the cowling. The D12 was similar to the D13, except for the central cannon wich was a MK108.

The "Red 4" IS a D-11, as only 7 actually went into service IIRC.. The other main difference between the D-9 and later models is the larger supercharger opening on the D-11 and D-13..
The only visual differences between the D9, 11 & 13 were placement of armament (which changed the hood on the cowl), the propblades and the S/C intake.. The rest of the aircraft is virtually indistinguishable between the different models..
