Has anyone got these yet ?
The first volume in the two volume set traces the history of the Mosquito from its first flight in November 1940 through to its production and many variants. The aircrafts varied post-war uses are outlined in roles ranging from oil prospecting and air racing to aerial survey. Told in pictures with extended captions and two colour sections, this reprinted volume 1 combines with the new volume 2 to present over 1,000 photographs, making them essential reading for any Mosquito enthusiast. Paperback. Stuart Howe.

Not yet, but Ian Thirsk at the Mosquito Museum has been working on this project for two years. Stuart Howe's widow asked him to collect together all the photos that Stuart had collected from private sources over the years : they really have never been seen before......

Volume 2 is astounding - nearly 400 pages crammed with hundreds of photos. I've been reading Mossie books for years and only recognized about a dozen or so which I've seen before.
I know that Ian Thirsk and Bob Glasby at the Mossie Museum worked very hard over the captions which are incredibly detailed. It would take a month of Sundays to read through them all but believe me, there is real knowledge here....a pot-boiler or coffee-table book this most certainly isn't !
Some great, great photos here, though - including some terrific images of the famous 'Gestapo-hunter' low-level missions and many pictures of the Mossie's post-war career which has almost been totally ignored in other publications ( and I really love the 'Mosquito as Film Star' chapter... stuff ! ).
A real Mossie enthusiast labour-of-love ; buy it ! :)

Without a doubt - Amazon. They're doing it currently at around £16 with free delivery and that is a bargain for what you get.
Just type 'Ian Thirsk' into the Amazon search box and up it'll come.....:cool

Good bookshop if you are ever near the 'Old Vic' in Waterloo.

Oh my goodness, that is superb! Those low passes below tree line height.
Lucky enough to see the Mossie flying a few times but this just reminds me what we are missing in not having a Mossie in the air. I still find it difficult to watch the BAe Mossie without a small lump in the throat remembering the tragic loss of it and its crew. I also belonged to the 'friends' of Strathallan (junior member, honest!) and that also causes pain of an altogether different kind, thinking of the airframes that used to be there.
