One of what I consider to be the top five aviation museums in the US is the Experimental Aircraft Association's EAA AirVenture Museum located in OshKosh, Wisconsin.

Their collection includes a Spit and a Mosquito, and all aircraft are in immaculate condition. Lots of movies and virtural tours here:

Thanks for that link Bob, we hope to get to Oshkosh at some point in the future on one of our US visits.
