Just don't think about driving in unless you get there very early. There are 2 roads into Southend (A13 and A127) and both will be chocker.

2 railway lines serve Southend - park up somewhere along the line towards London and get on the train. Though local I've only been a couple of times; as Johnnyboy said the line up isn't particularly inspiring and given the lack of landing facilities the aviation 'ambience' is kind of detached.

Still, went last year (or the year before?) and saw impressive diplays from the Sea Vixen and Typhoon, which made it worthwhile. A trip to the airport may be worthwhile to catch some of the display aircraft, but sadly the local Vulcan doesn't appear to be doing a taxi run this year.

Not a bad line up, shame about the apparent weather there.
Here the rain is reaching biblical proportions and reminds me of the much maligned but now much missed Middle Wallop airshows which were always held in May in similar conditions most years. The last one was held later in the year and the weather was glorious:rolleyes:

I notice there have been slightly less post-show posts than there were for Duxford last week.

If anyone did go they have my deepest sympathy and admiration. 11.50 hrs after my last post it is still raining - probably like most of the country. I heard (but didn't see) maybe 2 aircraft go over this afternoon. ****** shame for those that attended and I hope some show took place. Hope it eases off a bit tomorrow.
