View Full Version : Any more SH-60 Seahawks?

After tooling for the RAN Seahawk, it seems odd that there have been no more since. Think it's about time there was some USN versions especially as there are some pretty wild non-anniversary squadron schemes available! :cool

Mmmmmm ..........go nice with a Century Wings Super Hornet (if they ever do one) and i suppose the Corgi Apollo Sea King would be ok with the Century Cat and Intruder, so yes i would be interested as a couple of different era Air Wings could be cobbled together:)

I think the lack of posts on this thread is pretty indicative as to the size of the market for this model......nothing wrong with the model itself, but it must be one of Corgi's biggest turkeys when it comes to sales figures......

Indeed, not being of the WWII era probably not helping too much either! ;) Oh well, thankfully I still have good kit building skills with the added bonus that it could be built more accurately than most diecast anyway!

Considering it is the only decent 1/72 scale version you would have expected it to have sold well in the USA? Then again, the Corgi operation in America doesn't appear to be that good at marketing..... A pity, as Corgi has a good helicoptor track record.

It will be interesting to see if they produce any more next year, but like many here I'm now getting bored with the diecast thing. Used to be great when corgi bought out their six monthly AA catalogue, seems to now just be a fond memory. Now you may have to wait over a year for that model you're wanting, then find it's inaccurate. :(

All the refs are still there but tooling costs for the extras ,and there are a LOT of extras on the DAP,make it unlikely at present unless there are guaranteed sales.Do you think that a stripped down MH-60L in Somalia as in Blackhawk down ,same markings minus the wings ,weapons and refuelling probe would be acceptable? Brings down the costings a bit.

sniper. As one of Corgi's better moulds I'd take any US Navy Seahawk.

15th January 2010, 17:16
As in SUPER 64 etc?
It would be acceptable in as much as it was an iconic aviation moment in history, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I can still remember the images on the News of what happened to the crew. :(
However, whilst I fully appreciate the cost/benefit argument, I personally would still like to see the fully tooled up version, its a defining feature of the Blackhawk that it can be configured in that way. Besides, I think Corgi owe me SOME external fuel tanks, since they didnt put them on the USCG version!

Pics of the new "Ocean Hawk" up on the FM site, oh dear:( looks like they have not eve touched the casting of the RAN one, the radome, and nose sensors are the same as on that model ,the Radome should not even be fitted!!!!!! As for the colours the top grey looks almost black, even darker than on the pre-pro model , there is very little difference in reality between the greys on the real thing.
This is what it should look like

I'd have no interest in half a model really.. Would love a camo Pavehawk with all it's bits, a bog standard grey USN and a nice colourful Japanese one but not the Dusty Dogs release - bit of a shocker really.
I have the Coast Guard release (and the Hobbyboss kit - for all the bits Corgi left off it).

That would not be half a model but a model of how that aircraft ,"Southern Comfort" was deployed in Somalia on Op Gothic Serpant , a standard MH-60 L ,with mini-guns, no seats in the rear, no attched probe, no EHSS or DAP fitted.

Head Kennel is not pleased, this model was developed ,and I use the word with caution, by someone who was given a contact who works with H-60s for the research. This person was on a short contract with Corgi and is now gone ,it looks like he ignored all advise he was given re this model and did his own thing, I don't think he will be getting any referances in the future.

Am no expert and know this is a SH-60B and the color scheme is different, but looks like what US Corgi was trying to replicate, from the front anyway. Comments please to elucidate the uneducated non-expert novice on the differences between a SH-60B's and F's. Would the model pass as a SH-60B? Thanks.

This has just arrived, a well executed model that is totally wrong. The good news is the unrequired sensors etc are just tacked in place so they can just pop off ,so with these removed it is a much better representation of the 60F. if I can mask the top grey ,which to me looks like dark sea grey, and repaint wih a lighter colour and add a couple of bits from kits ,it should look ok.
