Albert,
Will it have all the HC2 'mods' and can you display it without the cargo etc? Nice choice though!!

I like that static, non-moving look. Kinda reminds me of that old U.S. Army definition of hovering:
"Hovering is for people who like to fly.....but really have no where to go...." :D

Just seen some pictures of the Black Watch off to their new 'hotspot' in Iraq driving the bog standard Land Rover so it is still very much in service. What is interesting is the inclusion of a vehicle in a AA release. I asked Albert on the old board to press Corgi to release some 1/72 scale ground vehicles (like the one's Airfix make). I have got some very nice 1/72 scale 'jeeps' that go well with the P-47's and P-51's etc but wouldn't a RAF Bedford QL fuel bowser look great next to a Lancaster? Or a Coles crane? Anyway, just a suggestion to make the AA's come to life.

Too right! I am hoping this is the start of Corgi including vehicles and ground equipment. They advised me that this was the first one to test reaction and sales before they made any more, so we'll have to see

Albert,
Good news! Will the Landrover be die-cast or metal? I hope Corgi do bite the bullet as I could see this being an interseting 'spin off'. It reminds me of the Airfix Hercules that included the Bloodhound missile when it was released. Happy memories building that one and please Corgi, make a good job of the HC.2!

I have ben advised that Corgi have the tooling for the more pointed nose Chinook and the first one with the modified tooling will be released in the second half of 2005. Can't reveal which livery, but I think it'll please Agent at least.

I saw the Guns-a-go-go on a U.S. site and it looks great.
Fully equipped with front and side mounted cannons.
Couldn't tell if there was a machine gun on the rear ramp.

I have supplied Corgi with info on the LandRover Defender, so it should be amended in time, although indeed the old LR is still in service.

Nice one Albert, thanks for listening! I wasn't aware that the older landys were still around, the Defender would look much better though, and will stand the test of time too. ;)

Right, the next question that you might be able to answer - is the LR Defender 'airportable'? I can't find any info to say it is and also I think there are still many of the older LandRovers still in service. If we can't find that vital info, the shape will stay as it is in the catalogue. Thanks

Albert the answer is yes all Landrovers are air portable the LW one was developd in the late 60s for the paras and marines and could be slung under the Wessex. The chinook can even take then inside which is why the US Army Rangers adopted them as the Special Operations Vehicle to go with the MH47....now theres an idea

That's great, then I'll see what I can do to change it.

Albert,
and please Corgi, make a good job of the HC.2!
:) Shuttle
HC.2
The US Army's next generation Chinook, the CH-47D, entered service in 1982. Improvements from the CH-47C included upgraded engines, fiberglass rotor blades, a redesigned cockpit to reduce pilot workload, redundant and improved electrical systems, an advanced flight control system (FCS) and improved avionics. The RAF returned their original HC.1s to Boeing for remanufacture to CH-47D standard, the first of which returned to the UK in 1993. Three additional HC.2s were ordered with delivery beginning in 1995.
Apart from a few additions like anti-missile FLIR pods, the HC.2 appears to only differ from the HC.1 internally. The differences are only minor, so don't know what you are looking for? Perhaps change the rotorblades from plastic to fibreglass???

Albert,
I was referring to the overall scheme and the few 'extras' that make difference between one mark and another. I am sure Corgi will make a good job of it.

I think the bo****s Maple is refering to are the large rubber fuel bladders often seen as an under slung load on chinnoks, usually when working with TRW or TSW.
