I hope to get my hands on one soon anyway. A mate of mine knows the chaps that are working on the Vulcan at Southend and says he's asked them for me if they need volunteers. So hopefully one weekend soon I'll be helping them out with it. Apparently they are always after volunteers, especially if they're enthusiasts. I can't wait.

Just had another look. Can 16064 people really viewed this item? I've sold one two items but never got that much interest.
I suppose I could get a loft conversion to put it in.

I hope the bidder isn't some evil scrap metal merchant! Who can afford a Vulcan and find somewhere to put it? Maybe it's Jeremy Clarkson* looking for a companion for his Lightning!
:) Shuttle
* For Brad and Bob et al - Minor British TV presenter who is into fast cars and planes etc. He put a Lightning in his drive way to annoy his wife....!

the saga of this Vulcan is better than Neighbours (!!) be interesting to see what happens when the auction finishes and what the lucky 'winner' does next.. it'll cost a fortune to move the thing, if it could be moved.. theres nothing on it worth having (cockpit stripped apparently).. bizzarre..
so CFBC you'll have to be content with visiting Newark and having a look around the cockpit.. oops sorry, wasnt going to mention that again!!! :p
this is quite nice...

Looking at the bidding history I see that not one but two people have placed bids over £1 million.
The seller has no previous history of buying or selling but has 35 other items for sale. The other items are mainly aircraft related but there are others. Any body had a look at WWII instrument panel. Is it really WWI and how can you tell?

Very sorry to say it but this one's as good aas scrap. I'm a huge Vulcan fan so I really hope it isn't so but I can't see much else in store for it. Tragic, but I reckon the nose will be bought and the rest scrapped.

Actually D/F, it is..... MAssive, however I have the problem of the "Delta" shape wings that will just NOT fit in the space........ However, as Neild say's, if it is moved it will be in large BINS, so I don't have a problem then!!!
Wall covering...... :)

5th November 2004, 16:01

Funny the things you find on web sites...
Pub Landlord Buys Nuclear Bomber?
DUKINFIELD, England -- A former Royal Air Force (RAF) nuclear bomber put up for auction on the internet was sold for £15,000 (about $30,000) - to a pub landlord in England.
Christopher Ollernshaw made the highest bid on eBay for the 40-ton XL391 Vulcan jet. It was one of seven bombers they flew to Ascension Island during the 1982 Falklands war.
The plane will go on display outside his pub in Dukinfield, Cheshire, reports the Mirror.
Previous owner Brian Bateson, boss of Blackpool Air Center, bought it in 1982 for £6,000 after the RAF decommissioned it.
"The RAF flew it in to the airport then parked out front. But it's not a two-minute job to get it started again - probably a couple of years," he said.
