Hi guys,

Im looking to purchase pretty much all of the 08 corgi catalogue and was wondering where do people purchace thier models from.

Ive bought from Ebay, MZ, FT, avaition retail direct, flying mule, and direct from flying operators for their specific aircraft.

Ive just looked at my pre order at flying tiger and they offer 20% off over £200 orders which is good. Ive added up my order and even with the 20% its still £345. Just wondered if there is a model shop that can offer an even better deal.

Im ready to place the order asap so that i can get these models when they are released.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Check out the promotions page......

http://www.diecast-aviation.co.uk/Promoters.html

For pre-orders, a 20% discount is about as good as it gets.....the good thing about Flying Tigers, particluarly for the bigger stuff, is their flat-rate postage.

If you don't want to pre-order, but still decide to get a model pretty much on the day of release, there are some good ebay dealers/retailers such as brianbillie, 604st, gjcorgi and retrotoys (as examples) where the discount will be anything between 25% & 35%.

There's also some dealers who are forum members and if you ask nicely might do you a good deal such as marky, Mr Spock and Blue Sky.

Also check out the US sites such as Flying Mule......sometimes the difference in SRP more than offsets the extra postage.

Is the 'deal' purely monetary... does stuff like reliability, service, packaging etc.. etc count..?. Yep I bet you could find a cheaper source.. there's always somebody cheaper somewhere, but invariably I have always found yer tend to screwed somewhere else down the line when there is bugger all in it left for the dealer...-biggrin-

Sorry but its your call and to expect forum members to nominate one dealer/retailer over another is only going to start what will end up a moderated, or withdrawn thread...

Hey ho..

I think most forum members on here have their own 'preferred suppliers'. Having only really dealt with Flying Tigers due to their help with the Kent Spitfire I can't really comment on the others.

May I suggest a visit to the promoters page as these guys help contribute directly to the forum. Which I know is hugely appreciated by all.

Thats what i thought Charley, i just wanted to find out who they are. Just this second popped down to MZ (maidstone) to get my reserved BBMF (not set though).

I look at the promoters page and notice that they are all the ones i use too. I think ill stick to who you know and FT are pretty first rate as has been mentioned.

Hey ho..

The "Deal" represents all things you mention. I know what you are saying, getting it on say ebay could be cheaper but you are uncertain to what condition the box/plane will be in. I was simply asking where people get theirs from and who could recommend a good price and P&P source.

To be honest, the 'cheapest' dealer varies from model to model. I usually pick the cheapest when buying via ebay, but you don't expect the same standard of service (although most I use are the same sellers over and over so yes you do get excellent service with many ebay sellers)

I have placed all my pre orders for next year with Flying Tigers not because they will necesarily be the 'cheapest' but I know that the prices will be fair and realistic and I also know that my order will be treated with an excellent level of customer service from someone that gives a damn about their customers. Anything that I don't want desparately enough to preorder but may decide to buy when I've seen them, well I'll probably shop around, but there are a whole variety of shops that I use, Jumblies, Brianbillie and Jacksons via ebay, and even Hattons if if they have a bargain and I don't want it to arrive there and then! I tend to try and spend at a variety of sellers as and when I can

To be honest, any one of the Promoters on the Promotions Page (http://www.diecast-aviation.co.uk/Promoters.html)are good or they would not be on there to be frank about it! I keep tabs on them and speak to other collectors about their service, packaging and supply.

Ok, they are not directly associated with the forum, but I do care about you lot and the service you receive.

Feedback is always appreciated to me so I know that they are doing their job! If required, I will get involved as I know these people very well and expect the service to be good as it also the Forums name that could be involved too.

I'll buy from whoever gives the best deal, and have bought from most of the major retailers and thru the Bay. I've always found Mr J's to have great service at the right price, and is well within driving distance for me.

Good advice!

Used to get some good deals at toy fairs but these days (www) traders are less keen to 'give' their produce away when they can get a better price online-smile.

I have tried most outlets at some time or other but have to admit that, for me, nothing quite beats buying from my local model shop (even if it costs a couple of extra £'s)

Hang on old froot - he was overpriced and the likes of me, you and the populous in general having a window shop wasnt going to put jam on his table...

The days of sticking models in a window with some rrp labels on them was never gonna make anyone a squillionaire... even in the good old days.

Anyway you've still got one over in Poole which is only a donkey ride (and short swim) along those golden sands.. dont forget your colour coded armband just in case you get lost...-biggrin-
