FOR THOSE STRAYING ONTO THIS THREAD, AN UPDATE AS OF 20/05/08.
Ok, at the risk of causing a small riot in forum land, I would ask that everyone re-considers the Top 10 based on Data's list. Many forumite's lists will not change but I would ask that lists are re-posted for confirmation or changed as appropriate now that Data's own schedule of available models can be considered.

In a real rush of blood to the head that I will probably regret, the raffle prize exclusively available to DAF members who post a TOP 10 will be the absolutely superb Flying Tigers Limited Edition Marseilles 109. If, when the winner is announced, you don't want this 109 (hard to believe but possible), the author signed 'Dambusters in Focus' book will be the alternative prize, POSTED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!
The deadline for the Top 10 submissions will be the end of July with the Top 10 being revealed on 18th October. The model can either be picked up at the BC Day or shipped ANYWHERE WORLDWIDE so you don't have to buy a BC Day ticket to enter! Yes, even the Aussies,Kiwis and all good forumites worldwide can have a bash at this!
Name will be picked out of the hat and, no, I can't be bribed with Jaffa Cakes....well, probably not!

Whooops....a tad unclear re the mechanism of winning the prize as has been pointed out to me.
The prize will be won by means of a raffle and the names included will be those that have contributed Top 10 RAF Bomber lists. Prize will be presented in person if the winner can attend one of the 2008 DAF meets or alternatively will be posted anywhere worldwide.-smile
So, I'll getthe ball rolling with, starting with no.1, my personal favourites....
S-Sugar
Barton Halifax
Banff Wing Mossie
B-25 Mitchell
1939 Wellington
SnS Dambusters Lanc
Grand Slam Lanc
Mildenhall Lanc
CC B-17
Merlin Engined Halifax
A couple of slightly controversial choices and omissions in that list but, hey ho.....-biggrin-
Final Top 10 will entirely depend on the votes cast. Now, before we hopefully have them on display, Friday 13th and the Blenheim may be out so the list may change BUT end of February will be the deadline for all entries to be entered into the raffle. Oh, and I and the DAF MeetTeam can't win so even more of a chance for those entering!

Don't forget bomber Command lasted 'till '68- so a Canberra has to be a must- and was the Corgi ASR Spit part of Coastal Command.
The line up promises to be impressive and I still can't decide my top 10, but a nice sub-set for Joe public could be evolution of the Bomber, something imposible to see in 'real life'. Trying to stick to the theme of ten:
Pick your own scheme-
Blenheim
Wellington
Halifax II
Dambuster Lanc
Grand Slam Lanc
Workhorse Lanc
Mosquito
Canberra
(1/72 Vulcan please, please )
Tornado
Typhoon
Ok the last two never flew with Bomber Command and if a Vulcan appeared something would have to give. But you get the picture.

Ooooh......loophole alert!-laugh- We might just squeeze a Canberra in and, before anyone says anything, a 1/144 Washington could make it if space permits. Knew I bought that blinking Washington for something.-laugh-
However, I think most will realise that the primary focus is on WW2 aircraft to tie in with plans afoot for one of 2008's possible meets.-wink-
You're in the raffle though Stan but come back to us with a WW2 focused list so my spreadsheet doesn't get upset!-biggrin-

The thread states WW2 Bombers so I do not see how the Canberra never mind the Vulcan could be in the list as far as I am aware the Canberra did not enter service until the early 50`s

Ah but in fairness to Stan, the thread was changed due to Stan pointing out that Bomber Command stretched beyond '45.-blush-
However, have reiterated that we are really looking at WW2 aircraft. Canberra may be given a 'wild card' if space permits but a display of WW2 bombers is going to take up quite a lot of space!-blink-

OK chaps, the Elvington event is booked for October (actual date to come with full launch in a week or so) so we need to establish the Top 10 Models that will be a part of the diecast display.
I can reveal that the raffle prize is a truly excellent intercative CD-ROM produced by Flyingzonedirect.com on the Lancaster. The CD has won rave reviews in the aviation press and was prepared in association with the BBMF. Flyingzone's latest CDs are also officially endorsed by the Royal Air Force and you can't get better than that!
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r47/atholforbes/lancasterprize-Elvington.jpg
The CD is normally £26 but is being offered as our raffle prize exclusive to those who post their Top 10 Bomber Command models. The lists can include 1/32 as we hope to have all the 1/32 Mossies present.
The prize will be posted anywhere in the world so, even if you can't make it to Elvington, please post your Top 10 and you can influence the display and be in with a great chance of winning this fantastic product.
Closing date is now March 31st 2008.

Well, It carried a bigger bomb load than a lot of others in the "as listed by the Bomber Command Association" including the Ventura which on at least one occasion flew on the same operation as the Swordfish.

Tis true that we started out also with CC and, to be fair, with some types such as the B-17, the only way that we'll get a UK version in the display is to use the CC model.
The focus of the day has however now firmly concentrated on Bomber Command....who knows what future events will concentrate on?;) Want to swap an entry?
Sadly, no one has yet come up with a Ventura....

Caught out! Yes, a tad guilty at my end due to other pressures keeping me from moving this on.:o :o :o Basically, had to concentrate on finding a new job as the credit crunch did its best to make life a little difficult but now that is over, back to business.
About to be resurrected/revamped and refreshed bearing in mind the list published on the DAF Bomber Command Day thread.:)
All entries to date will be valid but we will now concentrate on the definitive list as BC thread.
Prize has also changed (original supplier dropped out)..ooops.....and will now be a Dambusters in Focus book, signed by the authors and any veterans present at the BC Day.

Right, have been well and truly shamed by my inactivity on this front....:o
So, a slight re-launch but this time using the list of models (courtesy of Data) that we are hoping to gather for the BC Day display.
Select your top 10 from these and all those who enter will go into the raffle for a copy of the Dambusters in Focus book, signed by the authors and any veterans present on the day. All entrants to date will automatically go in.

OK, here's my update. Some of my previous choices didn't make the cut so that necessitated a re-think.
For me, the following:
Lancaster KM-B
RCAF Wellington
Banff Mosquito
Gram Slam Lancaster
Grim Reaper Mosquito
226 Sqn. B25
CC B24
CC B17
208 Sqn. Catalina
Barton (but preferably Friday the 13th) Halifax
Listed in no particular order. I'm assuming each being listed counts as a vote for that particular model.

Thanks very much Red 2!!!! I updated my list, not like I expect to win because I don't think I've won but twice in my entire life. But I suppose I have the same chance as the next fella?

Rest assured, you have as much chance of winning as anyone else. Great thing about this is you don't have to attend 'The 'Bomber Command Day' to enter! Just think Lancs, Wellingtons, Mossies etc., have a ponder over Data's list and post away.
One snag is that I know how much parcel tape Lev puts on Flying Tiggies parcels going abroad so you it might take any non-UK forumites several days to unwrap the fabulous 109! Worth the wait though.
The Top 10 models will be displayed as such at the BC Day in October with the full results available online on the day.

Ok, far too quite on this thread!
This gorgeous 109 will be posted anywhere in the world and to have a chance of winning it, you just have to post your top 10 from the earlier list.
Can't be easier so go on, live dangerously and you could have a Marseilles 109 in a couple of months!:cool

:o :o :o
Ooops....another typo.....
One list per person unless you have a split personality!
However, feel free to revise your list as I will work off the most recent list posted.:)
For the information of all, the BC display is shaping up to be IMPO one of the most impressive ever staged at an amateur event and the Top 10 is central to that display. Added to that the photographer/reporter from 'SAM' and the colour spread feature on the event, this display and 'others';) :D and YOUR Top 10 will receive widespread prominence.
So anyone out there who would like the chance to win what is going to be a highly sought after Maresilles 109 and also input to the BC Day, please just take 5 minutes and post your Top 10 list.

The winner of the Marseilles 109 will however be revealed as soon as I return from my holidays in August and it will be posted as soon as possible therafter direct from Flying Tigers who have very generously donated this prize.
