Just got back from the corgi presentation / opening of new part of bbmf visitor centre at Coningsby . Few pics to look at. All planes are undergoing their out of season servcing so it was good to see their 'guts' ! Thanks to Terry our tour guide - top bloke made it well worth the trip. We got goodie bags from BBMF and corgi - got a Hawker Typhoon amongst other nic nacs. The new triple set of the BBMF looks great but the new 1/32 Hurricane looked better imho. In all a great place doing a damn fine job. - mostly volunteers as well.

I popped in to BBMF this afternoon, after the events had died down. My first opportunity to look at the set in the metal. Very nice, particularly the Hurricane.
I also liked some very small models that were with it. The BBMF Dakota and one of the fighters, Spitfire I think. Possibly 144th? Think I'll get a couple of those for my desk.

Jim,
That could actually have been the Corgi Showcase BBMF range..? :)
Were they accepting visitors today at the BBMF then?? What did you get in and see? Thinking about it, I could have popped in as passed on my way back from down in deepest darkest Suffolk/Norfolk! :D

Just back from a wet and windy Conningsby. Had a great day at the BBMF to witness the presentation of the 1/72 3 piece set and 1/32 hurricane by Corgi.
Highlight of the day was definately the tour of the hanger. This took best part of 2 hours and was an absolute delight to get up close to the aircraft and have a really good look over them. As joecrow has already mentioned, they were all undergoing their winter overhaul, so most aircraft had panels, off, engines out, etc which gave access to view parts of the aircraft not normally seen. The insides of the hurricanes were a sight to behold!
Got a goody bag from Corgi, containing a 1/72 Typhoon, badges, stickers, etc and another from the BBMF containing a couple of books, badges, lanyard and some piccies.
Anyway, thanks to Corgi and the BBMF for a great day out.
And finally a few piccies...

I went in at about half two-ish. I only went into the shop to see the models. They are on display at the back. There were a few people milling about so I think it was an ordinary day in the afternoon.
I think you are right about the showcase models. They didn't look bad though.
Interestingly, while I was there a bloke was looking at the BBMF 1/72 set. As it was the launch, he wanted to know if he could buy one there and then or did he have to order it. I had to break it to him gently... I told him about Modelzone though, that seemed to cheer him a bit.

Picked up a few interesting bits of information from the guided tour that I didn't know about, like the tail fins on the Lancaster are actually from a Lincoln and the tail wheel is from an Airbus.
