Here are a few shots I took when I received these two birds last month. I rate the Wildcat as one of the finest diecasts I own. The Mustang and I had a bit of trouble at the start but with the help of a bit of superglue at the landing struts and wing tanks, we've become better friends.

Brilliant photos Ara1, thanks for posting.
Interesting that the Wildcat has such a barrel of a fuselage but, in comparison with the Mustang, such a tidgy cockpit canopy.

I like that Bluenoser! Got one on the way from Motormint and it sure looks like a winner. Hoping to have this one gear down. Any wonky gear issues Ara? My other EI Stangs are a bit unstable.

Heya datacroft, thanks!
Great observation of yours. I've studied the 'Stang and 'Cat for years and never realized how much real estate was in the Wildcat! A tight squeeze for the pilot for sure!

Hey Parsig, how's it going?
The blue nosed Mustang with white trim and a silver finish will always be iconic. I love the look.
My problems with Eagles's Mustang are:
Too much machine gun exhaust
Gap in underfuselage air scoop
Loose wing tanks and landing gear (down position only)
Gap-filling superglue solved the loose parts problem, and when this machine is tight, it makes all the difference in how you handle it, and how it sits. It's got a great solid feel and displays well with my other prized fighters: the Wildcat, Hobby Master's Spitfire, and Franklin Mint's Stanford-Tuck Hurricane.
You've got a great plane on it's way to you!

Elmers glue works best on loose parts if you don't want them glued permenently..;)

Hi Ara1,
Do you think a dab of acetone will take care of those excess exhaust stains?
Thanks,

Hi Ara,
You keeping posting pictures of your Carousel Wildcat and I keep getting tempted to pick one up. Have to admit it would look great sitting next to my HM Saratoga Brewster Buffalo, and the two Lexington Buffalos that should be in by the end of the month. Overall, looks like Carousel did a better job on the Wildcat than they did on the P-40, so may just have to pick one of the preware versions up. Just curious is the Carousel prewar Wildcat modelled after a one off of the US Carrier Ranger?

Hiya Cruves,
Yes, USS Ranger. Here's the official title from the C1 box: USN VF-4 Red Rippers, Charlie Shields, 1940.
I brought this diecast to a party Sunday and it was a hit. The comments made were "Great paint job", "Lot's of weight", "Excellent quality". One person noted how it's typically hard to paint a model yellow, yet this looked perfect. He's right, in regards to model building I remember how tough it was to render a convincing yellow finish. This Wildcat is the real thing shrunk to 1/48. The only negatives I hear about are the rubber guns and antenna.
See ya soon on MHII

flyX,
Hey it's great to hear from you bro!
Acetone may work, I'm afraid of what it may do to the finish too? Have you heard of this remedy? Have you done this to yours?
