As CFBC mentioned in another thread ( thanks CFBC - you just cost me another fiver ! :o ) a fourth issue of the BBHS' 'Battle Of Britain Remembered' has just appeared and can be found in WH Smiths ( altho' I got mine in Borders ).

Had to have it as I've got the other three ; the editor apologises for this one being two years late !

All I need now is time to read it.....

I think they're now hen's teeth, CFBC :( - the first couple came out in 2000 for the 60th Anni, then there was a big legal bust-up between Dilip Sarkar and the BBHS  ; #3 ( which was pretty good ) limped out in mid-2002 and #4 has only just touched down.....

Just been browsing through my #4. Very well produced, plenty of good reading material and photos, very few adverts. Many of the articles focus on 'lesser-known' BofB stories, and there's an interesting section containing articles by the late Hugh 'Cocky' Dundas which appeared in the Evening Standard in the early 60s and haven't been reprinted since.

All in all, recommended for anyone interested in the Battle. Buy now before they vanish like #s 1,2 & 3 ! ;) :p

I thought that both the Dundas brothers died in parachute accidents during the BoB?
I pick up BoB books from the EvilBay just plonk Battle of Britain in and keep a look out for the one you want, theres two of The Few books on at the minute, going for a song and excellent reading :)

John Dundas was shot down and killed by Lt Rudi Pflanz, Helmut Wick's wingman, on 28 Nov 1940.

Hugh 'Cocky' Dundas had a long and eventful WWII career and after the war worked for Beaverbrook Newspapers and then became Chairman of Thames Television. CBE in 1977, Knighted in 1987, High Sherriff of Surrey in 1989.

He passed away in 1995.

This is one I don't yet have - it's 'Battle Of Britain - The Forgotten Months' by John Foreman ( Air Research 1988 ).

AFAIK, it's just about the only serious book about the continuation of the fighting - Foreman is a noted historian and the book is highly regarded. I'm waiting for a copy to turn up for reasonable price at an aerojumble or show.

For a bloke killed dangling in a parachute 'Cocky Dundas' looked remarkably well in the video of Johnnie Johnson's 'This Is Your Life' I just watched!
Wish I could get the one hour specials they did on Douglas Bader and Johnny Frost. :(
